DCS World - USE YOUR iPAD AS A UP FRONT CONTROL OR INTEGRATED CONTROL PANEL IN GAME - iUFCExport APP

  • So, yesterday, I was searching for something that would be simple, inexpensive, and effective as a means to replicate my F/A-18C Hornet UFC and F-16C ICP without buying a $500+ piece of hardware or download a handful of software programs. I found lots of information on DCS-UFC for Android devices and considered dropping $99 on a tablet...but I already have a newer iPad and luckily, I stumbled across iUFCExport, a free App by Luc Walterthum. This video just overviews the simple steps I took to get it working, and by luck, it worked the first time and is still going strong. See links below, and the GitHub link has all the sub-links you need. Drop me a comment or question and share with a friend! Cheers ~ JUICE

    • @AIRWARFAREGROUP
      @AIRWARFAREGROUP  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Asger! Quick Checklist:
      - 2017 iPad or newer with IOS 12+ running (Settings, General, About)
      - Scripts Folder in DCS Saved Games with both Export LUA and iUFCExport LUA files in it
      - Windows Powershell Run as ADMIN with inbound and outbound port scripts ran
      - Fire up DCS, Open iUFCExport APP on iPad and select the aircraft you are in...
NOTE: Are you logged into Wifi on the iPad?
Sometimes, I have to hit the 1 on the number pad to get my UFC to wake up in game and on the iPad.
      Troubleshooting Ports:
If you prefer to configure these rules with the Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security application, please follow this link. Note that configuring the outbound rule goes through similar steps, except that you have to use port 7677 instead of 7676.
DCS doesn't update the displays on the iPad
Sometimes, your local network router may not accept local multicast and you wouldn't see anything displayed in the UFCs on your iPad (like the ODU/OSB texts).
In that case, you will have to try another outbound IP address. You would have to replace the 224.0.0.1 address in this line of the iUFCExport.lua script.
      iUFCExport.HOST = "224.0.0.1" -- local network multicast IP address
There are 2 options. They require you to get your iPad IP address. You can get your iPad IP address by going to Settings > Wi-Fi. Then select your wifi network in the list. The address you're looking for is in the line IP address.
      Option 1
Use your iPad IP address, replacing the last of the 4 numbers by 255. This will allow for a local broadcast.
For example, if your address is something like 192.168.1.33, use 192.168.1.255.
If it works for you, fine, you won't need to change it again.
      Option 2
      Use your iPad IP address.
Unfortunately, if only this option works for you, then you won't be able to drive several iPads from DCS.
Ports 7676 and 7677 are already taken by other applications
In rare cases, you may have to adjust the base port used to communicate with your iPad. By default it's 7676.
To do that, check this line in the iUFCExport.lua file:
iUFCExport.OUTBOUND_PORT = 7676 -- change this port if already taken. If you do that, don't forget to adjust the iPad application ports too.
and replace 7676 by the port of your choice (as long as it's between 1024 and 65534).
      Don't forget to:
adjust the base port on your iPad application, as explained here: github.com/wluc9875/iUFCExport-iPad#configuring-other-ports
adapt your Windows 10 Firewall rules to use your new ports (base port and base port + 1)
Poke me on Tactical DCS Discord if you need assistance, I'll try to help!

So iUFCExport is an Apple app for iPad, it's independent from the amount of monitors you have. I have Windows 11 and it works great. What ever you have for the screen showing the cockpit, the iPad mirrors that with touchscreen controls.

Hi all, I hope someone here can help.
I'm just following the instructions but when I open my existing exports.lua file it opens in notepad and not the program shown here. I copied and pasted the script as instructed but when going to save, it warns that formatting will be removed which I'm afraid to do given that I'm totally clueless with this stuff (I've never ever touched any coding in my life).
I don't want to cause problems with the existing export.lua file as I've got trackview and SRS working nicely.
Should I download something else to use to add the script before continuing?
Just getting started with the FA18 as my first hifi DC plane so I can see this being an amazing tool!
EDIT@ I've just tried the free "Serris Code Editor" software and no error messages while saving. Here's hoping it works.

Better to be safe than sorry for sure. I was new to lua editing 2 years ago, and found a friend to help me through it.
      Some Tips:
      1. Make backup copies of your files you plan on editing.
      2. Ensure your program is running in Administrator Role.
      3. Re-Read all instructions before attempting changes.
      4. Watch as many videos and Google your subject many times to get comfortable experimenting.
Hope these help. Does your I-Device have the proper OS required to run this app?
