  • Who are you, and what is the meaning of your life? The answer to these questions won’t be complete until you address where you came from. Many people today believe life has no ultimate meaning because they claim the human race came into existence by chance. But the Bible presents a different picture. In this message, Dr. R.C. Sproul teaches that mankind was purposefully created by God to display His character and glory in the world.
    This message is from Dr. Sproul’s 57-part teaching series overview of the Bible: Dust to Glory. Learn more: www.ligonier.org/learn/series...

    • @MikeAcousticMusic

      I would add that there are two concepts to behold concerning our likeness. Scriptures says one day “we shall be like Him”, speaking to genuine believers. This means that God is perfect, He is the Perfect Him and we one day will be perfect being that He is perfecting us (Romans 8:29 into the image of Christ, His Son) and we will one day be the perfect us.
      Being like God cannot mean being God or a god. It can only mean God will be God and we will be able to be with God. God alone will be worshipped and we will not be.
      So here these two things to consider:
      Communicable attributes
      Incommunicable attributes
      Yes the list is not “listed” yet we can detect and discover truths concerning both of these categories. The communicable attributes are those that God also has that He has created us with, thought, will, intellect, emotion, desire, perspective, personhood and so on.
      The incommunicable attributes are those which He is and we are not, complete, eternal (always existent), autonomous (self sufficient), divine, and much much more.
      By nature, we are limited to what we have been made to be as God being unmade is unlimited to be what He by nature is. Yet God cannot be both holy and unholy. He cannot lie, He cannot be both God and not God. God also is governed by His own nature as we are governed by God and His governance.
      I hope this is helpful
      Your comment made me think of this often left out truth of attributes. Blessings in Him

    We are indeed powerful creators - there is no doubt about that - but we are not as powerful as God. We are made in His image indeed. In giving us His image God has given us the ability to do what we want - to do and to create or miscreate along whatever lines us feel are necessary - but we cannot overpower God.
    And so if something has been done to us or by us, or we've witnessed something, we must remember that we are given absolute freedom, and that we are not going to be "punished" for following the guidance that we think is true. For anyone who does anything thinks it's right, thinks it's going to bring them what they want. They think it's going to bring them closer to their goals, whatever their goals are.
    But so many of us have had our minds so contaminated with untruth that we are not able to discern when we are off-track. We simply are not able to discern it. We have been so deeply indoctrinated through fear and mental and psychic manipulation that we do not even know.

    Colossians 1.15 explains that we are created like Jesus who Himself is God, who is finally revealed in Revelation, sitting on the Throne.
    Likeness is that, our flesh is the image of our spiriyual us, as Jesus is the image of the Invisible God.
    Such likeness can also be likened to the King and the Kingdom, where, God is to Kingdom, and Jesus is to King.
    Where there is kindom, we know that there is Land, king and citizens.
    Where there is God, we know that there is Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
    Where there is Man we know that there is body, spirit and soul.
    That is our likeness with God. But our dominion like God’s in heaven, is here on Earth.

    Man was created like God, was he not?
    But where are we like God, when He does all the work of Salvation and we do all the work of perdition, starting with original sin?
    But,... do we know ALL the history of Salvation, OR do we think we do? I have strong reasons to think that we lack fundamental information and that we only convince ourselves that we know the history of Salvation!!

      The way we know Jesus came to earth was by the incarnation by the Holy Spirit in the Virgin Mary.
      But... would this method be the only possible one?
      From my research in Theoretical Christology, I came to the conclusion that there was at least one more possible way.
      This process arose, as is common in research, based on a mathematical model, which is actually simple. But given the sensitivity of the subject, I think it's preferable to leave it for another opportunity.

    • @70AD-user45

      What is the other "one more possible way" Christ came earth? I'm interested in biblical Hebraic numerology, like the examples you gave, and would like to know what your mathematical model is.
      The number 40 was very important in Hebraic numerology. There was the Exodus, 40 years, and there's a 2nd Exodus the NEW Testament. The Exodus in the New Testament was spiritual nature which started in 30 AD with the ministry of Christ. A righteous remnant of believers were coming out of the Old Covenant age and into the New Covenant age of the Messiah.
      40 years after Christ's ministry, the temple was destroyed in 70 AD, which brought an end to the Old Covenant age. From 30 AD to 70 AD was the 2nd Exodus and it's the same time period as the 1st Exodus, and that's no coincidence.

    • @johnmartin5671
      @johnmartin5671 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@70AD-user45 From the 1st coming, the process consisted of an incarnation of the Holy Spirit in the Virgin Mary.
      Now, theoretically, the process of the incarnation of the Holy Spirit could also be repeated at the 2nd coming. As the biblical descriptions of this coming are vague and sometimes fanciful, this thesis can perfectly be admitted. Of course, it would not be in a virgin, giving rise again to the birth of Christ, but in a man who fulfilled the conditions of holiness necessary for the incarnation of the divine Word.
      There are two mathematical models:
      The possibility of an infinite amount of information being provided in a limited and small amount of time:
      y = tan x in the range [ - pi/2 ; + pi/2 ]
      The asymptotic approximation to infinity:
      y = 1/x when x -> 0, y -> infinity.
      I don't know if I answered your questions.

    Genesis 5:3
    And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
    And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years,.... The Septuagint version, through mistaken, gives the number two hundred and thirty years:
    and begat a son; not that he had no other children during this time than Cain and Abel; this is only observed to show how old he was when Seth was born, the son here meant; who was begotten
    in his own likeness, after his image; not in the likeness, and after the image of God, in which Adam was created; for having sinned, he lost that image, at least it was greatly defaced, and he came short of that glory of God, and could not convey it to his posterity; who are, and ever have been conceived in sin, and shapen in iniquity; are polluted and unclean, foolish and disobedient; averse to all that is good, and prone to all that is evil: the sinfulness of nature is conveyed by natural generation, but not holiness and grace; that is not of blood, nor of the will of man, nor of the flesh, but of God

      The “Royal We”: The Queen assumes the “Royal We” for a good reason. She is the Head of the Government in Great Britain; and she is also the Head of the Church of England. As Head of the Church of England, the Queen views her position as the Ambassador for God on Earth. God is “Royal”; and He (God) rules in the heavens over the affairs of mankind. The Queen is “Royal”; and she (the Queen) rules on earth over the affairs of mankind. Therefore; as the Ambassador for God on Earth, the Queen assumes the “Royal We” to mean “God and I”. The “Royal We” is sometimes referred to as the “Majestic Plural”, because in both cases, the same principles are applicable - God is Majestic and the Queen is Majestic.
      *
      As affirmed, the Queen is the Head of the Church of England. The Pope is the Head of the Church of Rome - The Roman Catholic Church. The Pope, in his capacity as the Ambassador for God on Earth, also invokes the “Royal We” to mean “God and I”.
      *
      The position of godhood is the highest conceivable position in all of existence. The next highest position in all of existence is absorbed (wrapped up) by the use of the “Royal We” or the “Majestic Plural” in which a creature (man or woman) assumes a divine connection or attachment to God in terms of supremacy, power, knowledge, or otherwise.

      @@HearGodsWord Man was created with a body, soul and spirit. (Heb 4:12, I Thess 5:23) Our soul consists of our mind, will and emotions. Despite the fall, we still retain the image of God. (James 3:9, 1 Cor 11:7, Gen 9:6) We still retain our own will, and our capacity to be restored into a right relationship with God, which God will not violate. What is unbiblical, is the fact that Sproul believed no man has the ability to choose or receive Christ because of our fallen nature. Yes, we were created for God’s glory, in His likeness, in His image, which includes our intelligence and reason. However, we have the capacity for fellowship (John 17:21-23) unlike the angels or any other created being, when we are regenerated, born again, and our spirit comes alive. They twist scripture (Eph 2:1) to say we are dead, and have no ability to choose. Unbiblical. Dead, refers to our spirit, which died in the fall of Adam. Our body and soul are very much alive (obviously) and it’s a matter of exercising our will to receive or reject Christ. Many are called, few are chosen. How do you know you are chosen? You respond to the call.

      @@mikem3789 We have the freedom to choose, but we choose according to our nature. Unless we are born again, we cannot even see the Kingdom of God, let alone choose to be a subject of it. However, when we have been regenerated, we will exercise our will to bow before our Lord and ask for His mercy as the tax collector did as related in Luke 18.
      With respect to Sproul's belief in infant baptism, that view reflects the practice of circumcision. It is a demonstration of the child's membership in the covenant family. It is no more the thing that saves than believers' baptism is. I subscribe to baptistic principles, yet I would suggest that the use of both types of baptism together might be appropriate. Infant baptism being a reflection of the circumcision of the flesh and believers' baptism being a reflection of the circumcision of the heart.

      @@basilfoster5245 I respectfully disagree. Joshua said: Choose this day who you will serve. Jesus, John the Baptist, Peter and Paul all proclaimed that man should repent and believe. God would not command us to do something without giving us the ability to do it. That’s foolish and it’s inconsistent with His nature. Yes, we can’t save ourselves. Yes, we all deserve eternal condemnation. But we can certainly cry out for God’s mercy. Even a guilty criminal before a judge will plead for mercy. God in His mercy provided a way. He presents salvation as a free gift by open invitation. Whosever will, let him come. Jesus compared the Cross to Moses raising the bronze serpent in the wilderness. Whosoever looked was healed. Would you take the position that God only preordained some to look and be healed? The rest He predetermined to die by the snake bite? You believe God, you take Him at His Word and He does the work by His Holy Spirit.
