Noah on Depression

  • At the start of his third year, Noah began experiencing trouble with routine activities like studying, working out, paying attention, etc. He slowly grew averse to any uncomfortable feeling because it felt so different from anything he knew. Soon, he believed that he lost himself and there was no way for him to experience joy the way he used to.
    After staying silent for a couple months, he finally opened up to his mom who encouraged him to visit a therapist. It took some time for things to get better, but talking about his mental health to someone was a huge relief. He soon had the realization that it was perfectly normal to go through depression. Nothing was wrong with him and he didn’t have to fight this battle alone.
    Noah reminds us that we are stronger people because of the struggles and challenges we experience. And, if there is a challenge you’re working through, your first line of defense should be to talk about it with someone. He didn’t realize it at first, but there are people out there who care for you and see their happiness as your own.
