    Listen, hear the sound
    The child awakes
    Wonder all around
    The child awakes
    Now in his life
    He never must be lost
    No thoughts must deceive him
    In life he must trust
With the eyes of a child
You must come out and see
    That your world's spinning 'round
And through life you will be
A small part of a hope
    Of a love that exists
In the eyes of a child
    You will see
    Earth falls far away
    New life awaits
    Time it has no day
    New life awaits
    Here is your dream
And now how does it feel?
No words will go with you
    And now what is real?
With the eyes of a child
You must come out and see
    That your world's spinning 'round
And through life you will be
A small part of a hope
    Of a love that exists
In the eyes of a child
    You will see

I saw the Moodies once in Philly and before the show Ray fell through a stage opening and broke his flute so an announcement came on the PA asking if anyone had brought one to the show. And luck would have that someone in attendance had so Ray played it and even brought the young lady out to thank her. It was a moment I’ll never forget and reminds me how much I love this band and their incredible music which will never be imitated.

Here the Moodies show us their view of our world through the eyes of a young child..".Eyes of a child" reflect those qualities that most of us are born with and those which we can have again at any age: innocence, spontaneity, non-judgement, trust, REALNESS and LOVE ! What a beautiful song this is, and 1 of many.... what a creative period in music this was (late 60's/early 70's) I know because I was THERE ! LOVE and LIGHT to all AWAKE beings...

Remember...remember, there was a time when they saw through the eyes of a child...as has each of us. We have gone blind due to our world, contaminated by what we have seen and done. What we have seen others do. We cannot go back. But if we can show the children, perhaps they can do better. Yes I am an idealist , but also a realist, I know what I would like to see...and I know just unlikely it is to happen. Perhaps the young will see what is coming...or perhaps not.

A never ending reminder that there lies within every single one of us an incredible being of love and light. I was just coming of age in 1970 when I bought this album, the first of many I would have from the most wonderful band of musicians I’ve ever heard. These songs are so much more than just songs - they’re lessons and insights into our higher nature. Hopefully we’ll continue to reach out and discover more of it.

This song just popped out of my memory bank tonight and I found this…Ah yes, it is just like that. In 1969 I was 18. Now I am 64. I loved this song then, and I love it now. I sent a link to a dear friend who is much beloved by her grandchildren... because she has never forgotten how to see with the eyes of a child.

I was 16 in 1953 and loved everything they had done since their first big hit, Go Now. We are all a small part of a love and a hope so clearly seen in the eyes of a child. We only have to reach for the stars, but something always seems to get in our way. We are our own worst enemy.

Todays music not only doesn't compare and match up .... IT CAN'T COMPARE AND MATCH THE MUSIC OF THE MOODY BLUES!
first off you have to actually pick up an instrument and learn to play it (then master it) .... Then you have to have the talent & brains to write something meaningful and with a message.
The MOODY BLUES will live forever through their music
Thank you Michael Dallas Barnhill for turning me on to so many things, but especially this band and their music .... That is a debt I couldn't repay in ten thousand thousand years

I remember in 1970 hearing the song Nights in White Satin on the radio. I went to a local department store to see if I could find it on an album. I first bought The Children's Children album and it wasn't on it, but I then felt in love with their music. I then bought Threshold of a Dream album and Search of the Lost Chord album. Wow, I found a treasure. At some point I finally found the album Days of Future Past, which had Nights in White Satin on it. I am forever thankful for their music. Thank you colordream for keeping their music alive. If I had a favorite album it might be Children's Children, although they made so much beautiful music. Music that is timeless.

The wonderment this song embodies reminds us of what we strive to understand and protect in our kids and, later, our grandchildren-- never let us forget the innocence in them we are responsible to protect.

This is a great description of the effects of LSD, which the Moody Blues were experimenting with during their Lost Chord, Children's Children, Threshold period. Those three records were effective psyhotherapy for me as I approached adulthood. Long time ago. 🤓

How do you know that?? I ‚m sure they did not take drugs like most of the bands at that time

    • @sarahtonin4649
      @sarahtonin4649 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@marietjie I know from numerous comments from Moody Blues members.
Like many British bands, they experimented with LSD, after which they recorded Days of the Future Passed. In Search of the Lost Chord even includes a song about Timothy Leary, the so-called "high priest" of LSD. When word got out that The Beatles album Revolver had been largely inspired by their psychedelic experiences, other artists decided to give it try, if they hadn't already. Acid had a powerful and lasting impact on the arts.

      @marietjie 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@sarahtonin4649 How can you tell if the "numerous comments" from band members are true? Which band members?
Ja there is a song about Timothy Leary's , "exemplary lifestyle", composed by Ray Thomas. Does that mean that they experimented with drugs themselves?
If so, they did not go overboard like most bands did. They did not ruin their lives and health. There were no scandals.

    • @sarahtonin4649
      @sarahtonin4649 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@marietjie Listen to what they themselves say about their experiences, including the comment from Justin Hayward I just posted. The information is available. Why are you so horrified by the idea? "Drugs" are not all the same thing, and a lot of musicians of that era used psychedelics and marijuana, neither of which are addictive, or even particularly dangerous, unlike meth, or heroin, or cocaine. In recent years, marijuana has been headed for pretty universal legalisation, and LSD and psilocybin have been used to cure addictions, depression, and anxiety in terminal patients. When you say "drugs," I think it matters what drugs you're talking about, since nicotine, alcohol, and caffeine are so widespread, even among young people.

Seeing throught the eyes of a child really is the sweetest and least harmless of priviledges. to have bestowed upon you. It is a terrible shame that so many people reaching adulthood lose that precious commodity called "Goodness".

@NephthysMesheop thanks for that .. yes we should see the world and our surrondings through the eyes of child.. You know when we grow up we sometimes forget that we all still have that little child inside of ourselves who is alive and it is up to us to keep them nutured and when they want to be seen or heard allow them to be. Where do you think our little child has gone they are still inside of us all. It is still the best part of us all. Our Imagination and Our Creativity our Innoccence./Love

Yes this album is truly a wonderful masterpiece. My favorite band is Yes. Been listening to them for 10 years and I am 23 now. So I know fantasy, love, humankind kinda stuff mostly from them. For instance; the album Tales From Topographic Oceans by Yes is entirely about spirituality, love for the human race and our history.
From what I understand all of the songs are different, but it has a unifying theme of honoring our ancient human ancestors that have all helped together to create the beautiful and sometimes terrible world we live in now. I am rambling so lemme say this: Tales is my favorite album, as well, of all time.
One day I found this brown record in my closet in a record box from my various relatives. I instantly recognized it as one of the moody blues albums I hadn't heard and to be honest I never was really too into them. I only knew threshold and DOFP.
So I throw this puppy on the record player and sit down to smoke a fat ass bowl as i always do. I literally, PHYSICALLY, and instantly get my head blown off by the begginging of this record. I always blast my records and this begginging is an explosion so hahaha. Anyway by the time this song and then beyond hits you are on a whole nother level of musical existence.
When it takes you on the cosmic swirling trip through beyond and then blasts you out into space completely with Out and In... holy shit man. Hearing that for the first time was so unreal and brought me so much joy because I rarely get to hear such good prog fresh anymore.
This album is one of the only prog albums that I would consider close to the level of Tales From Topographic Oceans by Yes. What's even more amazing, is it was released in the 60s.
    Peace.
