Every single time i watch this episode i got goosebumps, its such a vibe, that serious part with everyone chasing Jenny gives me the extravagant ambiance of a true movie of My Life as a Teenage Robot.
I just watched the episode and felt the same, it's so different from all other episodes that came before. During that chase scene all I could think was "wow, they are really not sparing their budget in this episode"
@@Onimirare Totally, o really think that If a movie of My Life as Teenage Robot suddenly happen, this Episode plot to better would be just the cause of goosebumps for every Mlaatr fan.
I would like to see a huge and epic finale for Mlaatr só all it's comunity could sleep with a smile and satisfaction. I really apreciate this show, it's even one of my inspirations to work with robots.
Rob Renzetti: "We need a catchy first line for our new MLAATR Christmas special song at the start and end!" Random person at Nickelodeon: "Why not something that ends in gay?" Rob Renzetti: "THAT IS BRILLIANT ANIMTE IT AND GET THE VAs IN IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!"
I don't think I've seen this episode back in the day, but I can totally see all the references here. When Todd Sweeney reformed and gave away his presents to everyone, I can't help but say that it was a reference to "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" by Dr. Seuss! Even Tuck said: "Some say his heart grew three sizes that day"! Overall, a pretty solid MLaaTR Christmas special! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all members of the fanbase!
I feel if Brad, Tuck, and Nora had properly apologized for assuming the worst out of Jenny so fast, the episode would've gone over better with other fans. Not doing that just has them look really bad. Especially Brad. Who has the gall to say they always believed in her. Dude, own up to the fact you misjudged Jenny. Still consider this their lowest point in the show.
The part where Jenny was getting chased by rockets and looked seriously damaged... gave me flashbacks to Transformers 4 where a good medic autobot named Ratchet was being attacked and then killed by humans, despite the autobot trying to run away from them
All that had to be changed was for have Nora, Brad, Tuck and Sheldon be on the same side and they try helping Jenny. There, just one small change and this episode would've been better, i mean its like if Professor Utonium tried harming the Powerpuff Girls if he thought they turned evil, it's just heartbreaking to think about.
I really liked how this Christmas Special stood out in comparison to the other Christmas Specials on both Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. Most of the other Christmas Specials revolved around stopping a villain from trying to destroy Christmas, or the characters learning about the true meanings of Christmas. A Robot for All Seasons has Jenny being mind controlled. There's not really any other Christmas Specials that I am aware of that had the main character being mind controlled by a villain.
I'm SO HAPPY MLAATR got a Christmas special! I watch it every year in tribute! Plus this video was one of the best videos ever made!!! Happy Holidays and a happy new year to all MLAATR fans!
Sad that on this very Christmas special, (for the most part) Jenny just gets utterly snowballed, even though it is not her fault. If I I did something like that, I'd probably get bombarded with nuisance puyo
I've always loved this Christmas special for just the sheer insanity of it. I love how it mashes up different ideas one has seen in Christmas specials before from Santa being out of commission due to injury to a grumpy and villainous boy wanting vengeance against the holidays and kind of just runs with it and of course, there's that reveal of what Todd Sweeney did to Jen and the very tense chase that occurs. There are some issues I have like how Brad is just willing to go on the attack even though this is his best friend and Nora seeming like she should know there's the possibility her daughter could've gotten hacked but overall that's minor. This is still a very fun episode. As for its supposed mean-spiritedness? I mean it kind of is but I feel like it's done with a purpose. To me, it's not something like say SpongeBob's Squidward torture episodes where it's a never-ending symphony of agony that you want to see end. There's a clear reason for why Jenny becomes the town's most hated person. Really the only problem is due to MLaaTR's structure there isn't room to address it and I would've liked to have seen Jen actively confront her friends about this.
To be honest with you, I still think the one year time skip makes this episode fell out of place in the shows' timeline, even though Rob himself confirmed that it is. I might have an idea of when said episode "could" take place, but I'm as unsure as some of you are.
Two things for me. Missed opportunity where Jenny turns into a bulldozer and escorts Tuck to Toys store. While at the time she was running over people, should've played MK Wii's Coconut Mall. And the other part before blowing people away from the toy display area. I felt like the way Jenny and Tuck posed before landing him inside. That pose almost gave off Classic Sonic and Classic Tails vibes. Other than that. First episode in the series I had watched before
I found this episode... *very* odd. As like... a *huge* part of Jenny's journey, is learning to not let others use her like a toy. (Innuendos and all) And in this one she just... eagerly *wants* to be "used" by someone? It's just... very weird to me. Not to mention: *Randomly* an entire year goes by, lore wise? xD Atop that, all her friends just... don't believe her. Despite the fact she has *never* talked during the other events. It has a lot of weird going on tbh.
Not the best Christmas special ever. What would’ve made it better would be if Nora and a few other Tremerton citizens knew that Jenny was brainwashed in addition to Sheldon. Basically, after Jenny wakes up and is attacked by Brad, Tuck, and the others, I can see a random stranger (who would eventually become one of Jenny’s closest friends) finding Jenny and taking her to a hideout where Nora, Sheldon, and the few other Tremerton citizens who still have faith in Jenny are hiding out. Believe it or not, I see the few citizens actually being Miss Binky and her students as they saw Jenny as a true superhero at the end and this can be the redemption for that episode. The stranger introduces herself as Della, a multiracial girl who is a year or so younger than Brad and Sheldon and explains that she is on Jenny’s side as is the kindergarteners and Miss Binky. Sheldon and Nora reveal themselves and after a brief reunion and test, Sheldon explains the story regarding how Jenny’s been attacking the holidays and how Sheldon believed that she was mind-controlled. Or as Della call it, being hacked. Nora admits that she was skeptical at first because of how she upgraded Jenny following the nanobot infection Vexus caused. Sheldon and Della convinced her as well as the kindergarteners and Miss Binky. Unfortunately, they could not convince Brad or Tuck and everyone outside of the small group thinks Nora is on their side as part of a cover-up. Jenny realized the situation and before going off to face Todd, she thanks the kids and states that if things work, they’ll be getting extra good gifts from Santa. Miss Binky also wishes Jenny luck and even apologizes for thinking she was bad as her students convinced her that she’s not. Jenny, Della, Sheldon, and Nora come up with their plan and the episode plays out normally until the end. Before Jenny kisses Sheldon, Jenny goes up to Della and asks why she believed in her despite not knowing Jenny personally. Della states that it was kind of obvious that a robot known for protecting mankind was hacked if she vanished only to destroy holidays for an unknown reason. Della adds that she knows Jenny is good and will not act out unless someone is forcing her to. The two hug and their friendship starts. That’s my belief in how the episode should go. What do you think
Not a bad alternate plot, but I'd have made it into something like It's A Wonderful Life where Jenny gets to see what things would be like if she never existed.
When I first saw the episode: I was amazed at the way Rob Renzetti made with this episode, ofc ppl say that had some dark moments, although they weren't as bad as I thought they were. I've seen way more darker moments on kids cartoons such courage the cowedly dog, Phineas and Ferb, and Hey Arnold. I mean these dark moments tells the audience that this is real world, like real world isn't always perfect and shows how the main character their struggles and their issues. Though Jenny experienced such as her friends and the town are after her. It showed how a boy wanted revenge over for not having a family for Christmas, yes that's very heartbreaking and sad. Needless to say, the episode did have a happy ending which that's fine and I love this Christmas episode, my rate of this episode is 9/10.
They should have given the scriptwriter of the episode a warning(not to make the episode so dark or treacherous),but he simply did what any series script writer would do...do the complete opposite.
This a question to the mlaatr fandom and community. I must say that I have never seen such a strong fanbase other than the shrek fan community, but I must say, why is the fandom is so addicted to this cartoon? I love watching it when I was a kid and even now but I must know why is this fandom so strong and active to this day?
Speaking for myself, I had forgotten about the cartoon for years and when I rediscovered it I fell in love with its visual style. I felt like it deserved more attention than it got, so I started making fan groups and this channel to bring us together! I know other cartoons have just as many or more passionate fans, I’m just happy that this community has grown to the size it’s at!
Oh boy, where to begin? Perhaps I just list my thoughts because I have so many: 1. Like Nathan, I don't consider this episode canon, even if it's officially regarded as such. It's just too mean-spirited and throws off the chronology of the show too much (not to mention its minor plot holes you mentioned). While I agree that having someone fill in for Santa on Christmas Eve is cliched (and I said as much in my previous comment), I still would've enjoyed that more than what we ultimately got. In fact, I hate it so much that I haven't watched it in literally ten years, with no plans to do it again any Christmas in the near future. If you like it, that's fine, but I love Jenny as a character too much to enjoy it beyond the animation. 2. This episode is worse than the kindergarten episode IMO (and yes, it's kindergarten, not preschool, despite what the title would suggest) because all the hatred that Jenny gets is due to things she did while under the control of somebody else, and in the kindergarten episode she largely brings it upon herself by being such a jerk to the kids at first. (I actually don't mind that episode too badly because she seems to realize her mistake by the end and comes to like it there). 3. Jenny is not actually gay, as demonstrated by her interest in boys throughout the show. (Though it's not just JennyxVega fans that imagine her as a lesbian, but also JennyxMisty fans). Yes, it's a dumb and perhaps outdated use of the word "gay," (and the whole song is kinda dumb), but it's important to remember that there was a time when "gay" primarily meant "happy." I was born in the 90s but didn't realize it could mean anything else until I heard it used as an insult (like "that's so gay"), and even then it took me a few more years to find out what that alternative meaning was. (Until that point, I thought, "how is it an insult to call someone/something happy?") Of course, I'm sure you're joking, but I don't think people should take it seriously.
what a misunderstanding. On the song, the word "gay" has other meaning so, "we never felt so gay" means "we never felt so happy".
