It’s possible that the roster cuts stem from voice acting problems too. What if the voice actors for the cut fighters weren’t available or were charging more than the not AAA budget would allow? And since they redid the characters almost completely the expenses were likely almost as high as creating a new character from scratch.
@@protocetid I doubt it. I'm a (admittedly much smaller scale) game developer. Voice acting is added very late after everything else is made. It also didn't stop them from putting in characters whose voice actors aren't doing any work (like April) or are dead (like Powdered Toast Man). There's also the fact that they started changing some voice actors aside from just the ones that traditionally use child voices (like I noticed more Avatar voices were replaced in the last Avatar game and this one with more Chinese/Hong Kong descended voice actors)

I LOVE the amount of charm they put into her! I wouldn't be surprised if they made Jenny one of the first characters to unlock in the campaign just to have an amazing conversation with Nora! She's also my biggest main!

Speaking of being a swiss-army knife, her SUPER totally should've been her body exploding into an amalgamation of weapons with Jenny going berserk, like an 'all-out attack,' if you catch my drift.
All the amazing things happening with jenny recently is just lifting up my spirits as of late, and it so relieving and awsome to see she has her own dialouge and everything unique to the campaign! And its always a pleasent bonus to have the xj sisters show up atleast as spirits in game, im hoping to see xj6 show up somehow.
Honestly I feel like for the scope of this game Jenny's super should've been launching her opponents into space and firing her telescopic laser cannon at them from the first episode of the show. It would be a really great spectacle, fit well in the games format, and overall be a great reference to one of the shows most iconic transformations (from the first time we even see Jenny no less).
Glad to see all this in action before I get the game. And, like you, I also advocate for Vexus to be in for DLC. And I have a suggestion for her new voice: Susan Silo. Besides, if you've seen Xiaolin Showdown, you'd noticed how Wuya sounds similar to Vexus in her non-ghostly form.
I don’t know if it’s fair to say the 11 cut characters were cut for marketing a future game. Obviously no one can know for sure that wasn’t working on the game, but considering we how much work was done & redone in the *very* brief time between NASB1’s EOS and NASB2’s launch, bringing back everyone from the base game would’ve almost certainly meant either compromising on quality or excess crunch, assuming crunch wasn’t already necessary. I get being bummed about the cuts, I’m certainly gonna miss Leonardo, but considering just how much we got, from newcomers to new modes to reworks, the current roster is entirely justifiable. I do agree about the costume & DLC price gouging tho lol
If they wanted to avoid crunch, maybe they shouldn’t have released a sequel to a game that released 2 years ago, especially a game as involved as this.

Jenny being in another all-star brawl is just awesome. Wish they could add most of the character especially vexus. Glad to see our favorite funny blue robot girl from a show we all know and love.

Like, seeing Jenny as the option for the 2nd unlockable character in the campaign, I had no idea I was gonna be playing what felt like the closest thing to a proper Teenage Robot game! Well, more like a new entry in the Nicktoons Unite series, due to the crossover nature. But you get my point. I had a big ol' smile on my face at almost every turn! Far better game than the first! Also, concerning the costume DLC in the Ultimate Edition, and I know none of us knew about it before launch. But there's a costume pack DLC that actually adds all 25-costumes from the Ultimate Edition. It costs $19.99, but it beats paying the $80 price point. Which might be a bit much just for costumes, but eh. Least there's options. There's SO many things I wanna say, but I'm gonna try to save it all for my review! Which might be over a week away from happening. Yeah, I'm slow, but quality comes first! Also, I got the game two days before launch, and it took a while to just do the campaign. Least I know what rogue-like games are all about now!😅

The devs were given a limited amount of time, money, and manpower by the publisher to make the game. They probably COULD have brought everyone back, but at the cost of other content like the campaign and new characters + stages, which were the priority for a sequel. Not saying you cant feel let down or disappointed by them, but roster cuts are a normal and expected part of fighting games, there's really no scum tactics here. I do hope we get some of the vets back later, and I really think we will see most of them again, but the devs made the right call focusing on polish and new content instead of being obligated to bring everything back.

Each character needs to be designed around each other, they would need campaign lines, costumes, and a new moveset. Still, this game came out two years after the first, I wish that they had a later deadline so they could work in more characters. My take on that has nothing to do with the developers and everything to do with GameMill. I seriously appreciate them getting me this game for review purposes and also for getting me high quality renders of Jenny for the thumbnail! My take on the pricing for the game and its DLC is firm though.

I just randomly got this vid in my feed after searching for Jenny's showcase trailer, and I had no idea how invested the fanbase was in her inclusion. I just happened to enjoy her kit after getting her first in the campaign. This was an interesting vid, seeing it thru a MLATR fan's eyes was cool!
Jenny in nickelodeon all star brawl 2 is the best choice. I mained her in the first game and i mained her in this game. I basically use Jenny a lot more than the other characters. I'm also happy that Janice Kawaye still has Jenny's voice nailed perfectly, even after so many years.😊💙💙💙💙😊
I'm just hoping that they will continue supporting and updating NASB 2 even after the season pass is done. just, give it more fighters passes (season pass) like Nintendo did with Smash. they now have the base that i wanted the original game to be, i'm very happy with it, even in it's 1.1 state that it's in now. when it comes to the campaign, i was very surprised to hear the characters being fully voiced with new lines and it was great to hear Nora's voice actress return aswell, i was not expecting that at all.

I like the voice lines but I still wish they acknowledged each other. I found some pitches from the Anime Superhero forum. Garfield to CatDog:..maybe living with Odie isn't all that bad. SpongeBob to Aang: so you control the four elements...?? Does that make ME a bubble-bender?? Jenny to Lincoln: you got a bunch of sisters, too, huh? Do any of yours shoot lasers!?!
Time for a few unpopular opinions on my part: 1. I'm not sure that Jenny's popularity in All-Star Brawl is anything but a testament to the fact that she's a perfect fit for such a game, being a superpowered robot designed for fighting bad guys. It may not be a sign of the show having a renaissance, and if anything I think Rob's new story was more done to commemorate the 20th anniversary. 2. Even if the show IS having a renaissance, that doesn't mean it will get a reboot. And IMO, it shouldn't, at least not on screen. 3. The show's animation style doesn't translate well to 3D, which is why every 3D model of the characters (including here) always looks a little bit off. 4. I don't think I would buy either game because the ability to play as Jenny is literally the only selling point for me. 5. If they ever have another playable character from the show, then I'd love to see them include Misty in the future, for the same reasons Jenny was a good match. Now for some of my more positive opinions: 1. I'm presuming they brought back Janice Kawaye to play Jenny in this game, just like in the first one. If they did, then props to them. You should always keep the original voice actors unless there's a specific reason you can't. (I will always be bitter about how Disney shafted Kathryn Beaumont in Return to Neverland.) 2. The fact that they included Jenny at all in the first game is a major victory, given how obscure the show is compared to most other Nicktoons. 3. To see so many gamers who aren't necessarily big fans of the show remembering Jenny and embracing her in the first game did my heart so much good, especially when I saw that Hungrybox made a video of himself playing as Jenny. 4. Giving Jenny original dialogue this time rather than recycling lines from the show (or some variation on them) is a huge upgrade from the first game. Same for Wakeman. 5. I appreciate the inclusion of Jenny's Sadie Hawkins dance dress as well, as it was one of my favorite "alternative" forms of Jenny on the show. Come to think of it, I might wanna try some fanarts of Jenny wearing that dress with a pair of heels. (And before you accuse me of sexualizing her, just giving her heels isn't the same as Rule 34. Pretty and glamourous do not necessarily equal pornographic. I've made my feelings about sexualizing Jenny abundantly clear on here, and if I thought such a fanart was inappropriate then I wouldn't think about doing it.) I might even do a couple versions of it, including one with her wearing a pair of Capezios and another with a pair of LaDucas (which, for those of you who don't know, are both RL brands of dance shoes.) You're right that the Smash comparisons are unavoidable to an extent, but it's not illegal to appreciate both series on their merits. I myself owned SSB Melee as a kid and have played SSB Ultimate a few times. (There's actually an interesting story about when I got Melee, but I'll hold it unless you really want to hear it.)
I’m not calling for a reboot, I’m just enjoying the attention that the show is getting. As far as I’m concerned, the past 2 years have been more fruitful for MLaaTR fans than the 10 years before it. Jenny being on the cover of these games, getting merchandise (figures and plushes for the first time), Rob working on a new story, and teasing he could do more, a more active community than ever before, and more wonderful fan creations now than I’ve seen archived from when the show was first airing… it all adds up, and I would absolutely consider this a My Life as a Teenage Robot renaissance. As for your opinion on the game and the model, totally fair enough!

Even if they, for some reason, *had* to use the Shiva blades for her Ultimate Attack it didn't have to specifically be the Raggedy Android sequence. Why not take inspiration from other sources, like they've already done for several characters? Been Playing Castlevania a lot, Have her pull out the rocket skates in conjunction with them and slide across the stage slicing rapidly like the Kali Soul from Aria of Sorrow
You can get the DLC costumes without getting the ultimate edition as it's own DLC also Jenny has another costume Shadow Jenny(As i call it) each character has like a all black colored with Purple outlines costume once you beat them 3 times in Campaign as for the game i'm loving it's really fun my only issue so far is once you beat the story of the campaign you can't replay the story without starting a new file meaning unless you do that you can't see all the story conversations with each character which sucks even more when Korra for me didn't even show up until after i beat the story with Jenny. if i could keep my records i wouldn't mind as much restarting

Personally kind of annoyed that Jenny doesn't have her canonical height. I mean, sure yeah: Balance reasons and all that. But they could at least have made her accurate compared to human characters.
Iv played platform fighters in my time starting in 2019 with smash bros ultimate honesty I played the original nick all star I wasn't a big fan yea the lack of air dodge and rolls made it feel awkward and unfair cus you get beat up easily but now I know that the 2nd game added those I might consider getting it I'm not gonna play it as much as rivals of aether (that's my favorite platform fighter) but this looks like a fun platform fighter to play with friends I'm also happy that my life as a teenage robot is getting recognized again but yea I agree the price is bs I'd rather wait till the Christmas sell

My take on that has nothing to do with the developers and everything to do with GameMill. I seriously appreciate them getting me this game for review purposes and also for getting me high quality renders of Jenny for the thumbnail!

I just randomly got this vid in my feed after searching for Jenny's showcase trailer, and I had no idea how invested the fanbase was in her inclusion. I just happened to enjoy her kit after getting her first in the campaign. This was an interesting vid, seeing it thru a MLATR fan's eyes was cool!
Jenny in nickelodeon all star brawl 2 is the best choice. I mained her in the first game and i mained her in this game. I basically use Jenny a lot more than the other characters. I'm also happy that Janice Kawaye still has Jenny's voice nailed perfectly, even after so many years.😊💙💙💙💙😊
The cut characters aren't for a "Everybody's here" type thing. Literally the norm for fighting games to keep the roster fresh and stay on budget.
I'm just hoping that they will continue supporting and updating NASB 2 even after the season pass is done.

they now have the base that i wanted the original game to be, i'm very happy with it, even in it's 1.1 state that it's in now.
when it comes to the campaign, i was very surprised to hear the characters being fully voiced with new lines and it was great to hear Nora's voice actress return aswell, i was not expecting that at all.
Okay, not that it wouldn't be SICK to have Vexus in the game as either a boss or player character, but I have to ask, even if she DID make it, would it be worth it without Eartha Kitt?
Vexus wasn’t voiced by Eartha throughout all of My Life as a Teenage Robot, Cree Summer voiced her in an episode already

Who are you again?
Time for a few unpopular opinions on my part:
1. I'm not sure that Jenny's popularity in All-Star Brawl is anything but a testament to the fact that she's a perfect fit for such a game, being a superpowered robot designed for fighting bad guys. It may not be a sign of the show having a renaissance, and if anything I think Rob's new story was more done to commemorate the 20th anniversary.
2. Even if the show IS having a renaissance, that doesn't mean it will get a reboot. And IMO, it shouldn't, at least not on screen.
3. The show's animation style doesn't translate well to 3D, which is why every 3D model of the characters (including here) always looks a little bit off.
4. I don't think I would buy either game because the ability to play as Jenny is literally the only selling point for me.
5. If they ever have another playable character from the show, then I'd love to see them include Misty in the future, for the same reasons Jenny was a good match.
Now for some of my more positive opinions:
1. I'm presuming they brought back Janice Kawaye to play Jenny in this game, just like in the first one. If they did, then props to them. You should always keep the original voice actors unless there's a specific reason you can't. (I will always be bitter about how Disney shafted Kathryn Beaumont in Return to Neverland.)
2. The fact that they included Jenny at all in the first game is a major victory, given how obscure the show is compared to most other Nicktoons.
3. To see so many gamers who aren't necessarily big fans of the show remembering Jenny and embracing her in the first game did my heart so much good, especially when I saw that Hungrybox made a video of himself playing as Jenny.
4. Giving Jenny original dialogue this time rather than recycling lines from the show (or some variation on them) is a huge upgrade from the first game. Same for Wakeman.
5. I appreciate the inclusion of Jenny's Sadie Hawkins dance dress as well, as it was one of my favorite "alternative" forms of Jenny on the show. Come to think of it, I might wanna try some fanarts of Jenny wearing that dress with a pair of heels. (And before you accuse me of sexualizing her, just giving her heels isn't the same as Rule 34. Pretty and glamourous do not necessarily equal pornographic. I've made my feelings about sexualizing Jenny abundantly clear on here, and if I thought such a fanart was inappropriate then I wouldn't think about doing it.) I might even do a couple versions of it, including one with her wearing a pair of Capezios and another with a pair of LaDucas (which, for those of you who don't know, are both RL brands of dance shoes.)
You're right that the Smash comparisons are unavoidable to an extent, but it's not illegal to appreciate both series on their merits. I myself owned SSB Melee as a kid and have played SSB Ultimate a few times. (There's actually an interesting story about when I got Melee, but I'll hold it unless you really want to hear it.)
I’m not calling for a reboot, I’m just enjoying the attention that the show is getting. As far as I’m concerned, the past 2 years have been more fruitful for MLaaTR fans than the 10 years before it.
Jenny being on the cover of these games, getting merchandise (figures and plushes for the first time), Rob working on a new story, and teasing he could do more, a more active community than ever before, and more wonderful fan creations now than I’ve seen archived from when the show was first airing… it all adds up, and I would absolutely consider this a My Life as a Teenage Robot renaissance.
As for your opinion on the game and the model, totally fair enough!

Even if they, for some reason, *had* to use the Shiva blades for her Ultimate Attack it didn't have to specifically be the Raggedy Android sequence. Why not take inspiration from other sources, like they've already done for several characters? Been Playing Castlevania a lot, Have her pull out the rocket skates in conjunction with them and slide across the stage slicing rapidly like the Kali Soul from Aria of Sorrow

also Jenny has another costume Shadow Jenny(As i call it) each character has like a all black colored with Purple outlines costume once you beat them 3 times in Campaign
as for the game i'm loving it's really fun my only issue so far is once you beat the story of the campaign you can't replay the story without starting a new file meaning unless you do that you can't see all the story conversations with each character which sucks even more when Korra for me didn't even show up until after i beat the story with Jenny.

I had to restart the game too, I realized I was recording in low bitrate 720p and I had no way to get the dialogue again without doing that

You think Jenny's special is lame? Garfield's is worse. His ultimate is his favorite foods come to life and beat the opponent off the stage. that is SOOOOOOO lame. GARFIELD DOESN'T EVEN APPEAR AT ALL.

Yeah the costume DLC is whack. Chances are you only want one of the costumes if any. They should be in the base game but if they REALLY want to sell them do them 0.99 a pop.

Iv played platform fighters in my time starting in 2019 with smash bros ultimate honesty I played the original nick all star I wasn't a big fan yea the lack of air dodge and rolls made it feel awkward and unfair cus you get beat up easily but now I know that the 2nd game added those I might consider getting it I'm not gonna play it as much as rivals of aether (that's my favorite platform fighter) but this looks like a fun platform fighter to play with friends I'm also happy that my life as a teenage robot is getting recognized again but yea I agree the price is bs I'd rather wait till the Christmas sell
