Storm Kathleen waves swamp unwisely parked car in dramatic scenes

Dramatic footage shows Storm Kathleen battering a Cornish town yesterday and an unwisely parked car being swamped by waves threatening to carry it into the harbour. The video was taken on Saturday afternoon, April 6, outside the Ship Inn pub, in Porthleven, and shows huge waves crashing into the harbour as onlookers can be heard screaming.
A red car can be seen parked on the harbourfront and is almost swept away by the water. Patrick Aston, who captured the dramatic footage at high tide yesterday, said that, while the car luckily didn't end up in the harbour, it was lifted closer to the edge a few times by the force of the water.
The dramatic scenes came amid heavy wind and rain brought on by Storm Kathleen which battered Devon and Cornwall until around 10pm yesterday. The counties faced winds between 50 and 70mph and warnings were issued that they could pose a threat to life.

I live in the Northeast of England where my house, right on top of cliffs, overlooks the North Sea. It is normal in winter and early spring to see the sea like this.
