The background music is increasing my anxiety more than the waves!
I like the background music. Eerie.
Same here! 😂
Yah the music is completely unnecessary. The picture is enormous enough.
😂😂😂
😣😃4 real though😣😥
I can honestly say that after years of living by the sea that I've never seen waves like this in like forever !
Im from St Just ive seen them before from time to time.
Never underestimate the power of nature.
Yeah those are giant waves. Like mid ocean waves. That must be an island? I don’t know the area. Surprised there were no surfers there. Virgin waves.
Those were cute mid waves. I’d like to surf those and then chase some real ones 🌊…
@@-live8659 be careful. Ocean can devour you.
Absolutely terrifying waves, couldn't live near that, but beautiful mother nature, none the less ❤😮
There's a book called Heavy Weather Sailing. In it he describes waves apparently up to 180ft and there were big waves on the waves.
He said they were like mountains. He said it's hard for most to understand how a small craft could survive such monstrous and horrendous conditions, but that experience and skill can put your odds in your favour.
Sound like a "3 sisters", i.e. 3 rouge waves in succession, one larger than the next.
@@charonstyxferryman Yeah could be 👍
Wild 🌊🌊🌊
I keep the odds in my favour by staying inland. 🤣
And the wives wait with their families for the fishermen to return safely.
Just a quick reminder that mother nature is in charge
So, slow down the video to about 30%, then add some atmospheric music. Seems like the film editor was in charge. Was somewhat expecting some "news reporting," rather than click-bait.

@Izzyyoutcast.
I had exactly the same thought, wonderful :)
I could live right here & be at peace.. these massive waves are so beautiful I could cry 🥹😍
You spelled terrifying wrong 😅
Terrifying yet beautiful. Nobody should EVER underestimate nature and what it's capable of

@@metalmicky there was a clip of Jennifer Garner on Conan O'Brien's late night talk show, old news, but it's been recirculating... Jennifer Garner said something about "sneaked into the room..." Conan says "snuck into the room." She interrupted herself saying "sneaked into the room. Snuck isn't a word, Conan. You went to Harvard and you should know that." Long story short, he was handed a dictionary, looked through it and what do you know? Snuck is indeed a word....
My point is, don't correct me thinking I'm wrong when I'm not. You're not wrong either. Both spellings are acceptable and still mean the same thing. You can Google if you want. I'm not ashamed to admit that I double checked. I fact check myself far more often than I fact check others and I actually appreciate when someone clears up any confusion and I learn something new in the process. "You learn something new everyday and if you don't, you weren't paying attention." Yay for learning something new! Happy to help (it reads rude, but I genuinely not my intention)

The power and beauty of Mother Nature brings me to tears ❤❤❤
I have a feeling that the camera angle and zoom is such that it gives the impression the waves are bigger than they really are.

It is.
so, you've never experienced heavy seas ... got it
@@gazjaz2010 That's true, but that doesn't mean that the waves in this video are as big as they look.

You do realize that despite the water looking taller than the house in spots, it never washes over the house???

@@djzktym Lmao!
Beautiful and terrifying at the same time
The PoV and panning is spot-on and the music is the icing on the cake! Well done! 👍
I think the slow motion of the footage makes the waves look even bigger than they are
...along with his camera being zoomed to the max, the affect he wanted
Nope, sped up the video and they're still that big.
How did this not wipe out everything around it...looks like a freakin tsunami
Telephoto lens makes the house much smaller than it would otherwise. Its like those shots of the moon with a tiny house in the foreground making the moon look huge.
Not to mention that house is alot higher than those waves and the camera is higher than the house but still, go stand in front of those waves and those waves are massive!
I was in 60’ seas in a storm in the gulf of Alaska back in 87, it was surreal in a terrifying sort of way.
Yeah that’s huge. Funny , I too was in 60 foot seas in the gulf of Alaska (blowing 80-90) out of Adak. Was about 95 if I remember correctly. Crabber FV/Storfjiord
Mad …!
what kind of vessel were you in?
A 200’ mud boat converted into a salvage tug.
@@Queequeg61 well, sounds like it was up to the task. 🚣♂
This what my nightmares are made of. When the waves are higher then the hill. You can't even scream, "run for the hills!" 😳😲🥺😱
They appear higher because of the camera angle 😉
Those are monster waves for sure, but no way higher than the hill. Also, that's probably a cliff there, but you can't see it because of camera position/perspective.
If you fall in the sea and it's like that, the best thing to do is to start drinking the water to reduce the sea level. Once it's low enough you can simply paddle to the shore.
I've often said that myself....a straw also helps to get a nice, even flow of water ,should you happen to pack one in your sea kit.... along with some tasty tuna and sardine sandwiches 💧💧💧💧💧🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🤣😂😁
😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😅
Yeah, cause its frothy and bubbling. Def can't swim it.
LOLOL
Would love to sea these giant waves in person like the ones in Nazare, Portugal
At Cornwall you would freeze your ass off in the water. It's roughly the same latitude as Labrador although it is warmed somewhat by the Gulf Stream.
I love watching the surf feeds from there.
@@Smedley1947 The sea temperatures in Nazare and Cornwall are surprisingly similar. Around 16-19c in summer 10-13 in winter. I was surprised!!

Awesome that the land slopes enough that a home can be built that close to such massive waves!
Yeah, cliffs. What's up with that?
It's not that close! It's an optical trick of telephoto lenses called foreshortening effect that compresses and distorts the distance and size of objects.
@@citetezIt's not the cliffs.!
@@markrigg6623 Yes, check the perspective on the house, the roof lines are almost vertical and parallel, suggesting that the horizon line is way outside the top of the picture frame and thus the elevation of the cameraman.

Angle is everything. Waves look taller than the house...
Oh I'm sure they are taller than a two storey 😂, the house is just closer and in a cliff
Beautifully terrifying❤
These are like the ones regularly experienced at Nazaré in Portugal which can reach 80+ feet high.
The size of these waves are common. I’m from the Northeast of England and live right next to the coast. Waves like this are not unusual at all.
This is just our local pond with a bit of a breeze.
@@scottsando8827 🤣🤣🤣👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Its even more impressive at the correct speed.
This takes my breath away.
That looks like 1:10 sunami type waves. My goodness. I revere mother nature. 🌊😱😱😱😱
It's better at 2x speed and muted.
Beautiful & majestic! Thank you for showing these.
The camera angle is terrible 😂. We have no perspective of scale.
Non riesco proprio a capire le prospettive dell' insieme.forse guardando qualche video dello stesso posto in una giornata migliore 🤔
Correct!!!!
That's the whole idea
Yes that’s what I thought….the 2aves seem higher than the roof of those h9mes but then the angle probably gives that eff3ct.
I agree, it’s probably deliberate, distorted for effect. I don’t believe any non-tsunami wave is higher than that cottage in the foreground. Storm waves get high, but not that high🙂
They're mesmerizing 😮💙🩵🌊🌊
Wow, I wouldn't stand there lol
That being said, I still think it rather foolish for those folks to have stood watching so close to the sea; it only takes one rogue wave or an exceptional gust of wind and you can find yourself in the drink with no way out and no hope of rescue.
Deadly and beautiful at the same time
I would love to see that in person... from a safe distance. Is the camera angle making it look higher than it was?
@sea-pin it was a storm with 96 mph gusts in a place which gets decent sized waves anyway off the Atlantic.
Also without a telephoto lens from this far away you wouldn’t see the waves at all.
At Nazare they also use telephoto lenses
Those are not 15 foot waves.@sea-pin
@sea-pin this is footage of storm noa which was reported to have waves above 25ft. It was also reported that Cornwall got the worst of the storm.
Super easy to google the facts.
Most likely. They also slowed down the video to make it look bigger and scarier than it is.
@sea-pin 25ft waves in the North Atlantic coming into the west coast of the UK and Ireland are not unusual at all. 40 and 50ft waves are seen during most winters. Look along the west coast of them on satellite images and maps and you'll see how rugged it is due to thousands of years of being pummelled by the north atlantic.
Awesome. The sea can be terrifyingly beautiful.
They are mind blowing. Is it normal?
Fairly normal storm waves for this area. 20ft plus isn't unusual, I'd estimate these at 25-26ft based on the 20ft waves I went to see from this same car park location in March during Storm Nelson. A bit further South at Sennen Cove, they're even more spectacular as the car park is much closer to sea level and there is a huge rock just off the RNLI ramp that breaks the waves as they come into the cove.
I cannot imagine the size of those waves ! so terrifyingly amazing ! Nature is a permanent marvel !
Looks insane, but the angle makes it appear like it's a tidal wave that is going to wipe out everything, but it's really the horizon and the curvature of the earth that makes the wave appear much higher than sea level than it really is!
I don't understand, please explain it, I'm confused, I See the waves are bigger than the hill 🤔
Now this is the stuff that keeps me up at night 😭😱🤯!!! Like RIGHT now! 🫣
Pretty frightening. When you think the waves in the way back are mountains cuz they’re so incredibly huge. Lucky to be up high

Onlookers don't appear to be concerned at all.

I'm guessing not too many wood houses around there.
We don’t have wood houses in UK. America has wood houses.
I've frequently been onboard ship in waves 60 to 80 feet on the Grand Banks off Newfoundland.. It's different watching them pounding the shoreline, but no less awesome.

Wow! What I wouldn’t give to be there in person and see that RAW POWER of the ocean!
Where is cape cornwall?....nowhere in the uk named as this!
Lol the clue is in the name! And yes there is….
It’s West Cornwall, England north of Lands End near St. Just. It’s actually Cornish. I don’t think England ever seized control if it.
It's just west of St Just on the north west coast
It’s incredible that only wind created the energy??
How windy it must be in those storms way out at sea
I really miss my time by the sea during the day and the fog by night.
The way the bushes and trees shake is enough of an indicator.
Bro, am I wrong, those are like..hundreds of feet tall? The 3rd or 4th is just absolutely monstrous. Sitting here imagining that hitting my house... instantaneous obliteration.
No, They’re about 30 or 40 ft tall which is still huge, but they look so big because of “forced perspective”. You film it from far away with a huge lens and it makes it look bigger than it actually is.
Just one cubic meter of seawater weighs 2,200 lb. Case you're not familiar with metric that's roughly a 3 ft by 3 ft 3 ft Cube.
