  • He's supposed to fully heal between phases, since the regular rematch after you get the ultra boots (when you remember the badge block in the alternate path at boo's mansion is now available) has 50 hp, and the default hp on the superboss is 80, but because the game is limited to a 99 hp/fp recovery cap, curse runs are a bit easier than intended because he can't even fully heal.
Some things to keep in mind during the fight when using a curse badge:
    1. As shown in the video, you can time a kill with your partner with a first move on a turn in order to initiate phase 2/3, then use star beam on Mario to remove the attack buff he gains upon phase transition. He already has insane damage output due to the double attack from Ultra Curse, let alone making it a bit higher.
    2. I did not use Frigid Stomp because he's actually immune to statuses in both the original rematch and therefore the superboss, so you can't use Frigid Stomp or Chill Out to lower his attack. (The original rematch does allow you to use certain statuses such as time stop, but the superboss is fully immune to everything.) You need to manage his damage output with other methods instead, such as defense badges, water block (which I didn't end up using at all), and especially Cloud Nine from Lakilester, which provides a post-defense 1/3rd damage cut, because his fling attack is unblockable, so only cloud nine and regular defense can reduce the damage. Rejuvinate can also help recover some hp.
2.5 Beating the regular boss rush to unlock the Shield Stone and beating Master 4 to get the Auto Guard badge are also extremely useful. The Shield Stone allows you to attempt superguards, but they only have a 1 frame window (hence the inconsistency), and Auto Guard means you'll still perform a guard and get the standard damage reduction + damage dodge(s) + status immunity should you fail the superguard.
    3. He gains extra turns on each phase as seen in the video, phase 2 lets him attack twice and phase 3 lets him attack three times. His mega quake attack counts as two turns however, hence why he'll only attack once when using it in phase 2 and only twice in phase 3. However, the reason why the mega quake counts as 2 turns is because it hits grounded partners (Goombario, Kooper, Bombette, Sushie), effectively stunlocking them if you don't have feeling fine equipped.
    4. Quick Change is also useful, as you can use it to swap between Lakilester for Cloud Nine, Buzzatrice for Rejuvinate + Hustle Spell, or Bow for Fan Smack (or Outta Sight if you mess up and need a turn of damage immunity) freely. Perfect Stand (a badge gotten in the Pit of 100 Trials) can also be used as well, since it's only 1 bp and will halve the damage taken from the next attack taken when at full hp.
