    Air bags dont actually increase tow capacity you need a actual spring upgrade to increase tow capacity. All air bags do is level out the weighted down truck you need heavy duty springs for the increased weight.

    Correct me if I'm wrong here but air bags do not increase towing capacity. They just raise the back end if you don't have a wdh.

      While it doesn't affect the actual towing capacity for power, it does increase the safety by leveling out the rear end to rectify Squat solves the truck bottoming out, trailer sway and body roll, light steering and braking feel and also the uncomfortable ride due to the jarring and bouncing.

      @GearheadJT so it increases towing capacity. So tired of the pc answer.

    Nice step by step video. I’m struggling to tow a Jayco 263 RBS 30’ bumper to tip. 700 lbs tongue weight empty 6500. I have a 2016 Tundra, so plenty of power, but even with equalizer weight distribution anti-sway, over 45 mph, bumpy roads, back roads, just can’t relax. I installed some of these airbags. One thing I wish they would have included is the cradles because if you Jack the truck up to change the oil, it pulls serious downward pressure and can damage the airbags. For crying out loud Airlift, why not include the with all sales and let people know why. Now I had my oil changed and the right one is leaking, pray it’s just the loose line. If not, I still have to buy the cradles, hope they replace the damaged bag, and take it all apart. All this could have been prevented for $50 and some pre-installed education

    you cannot increase the tow capacity. it is limited by the FRAME and axles of the truck. a spring or bags will only level it out.

    Im a 2nd Gen owner, but im beginning to come around, because of aftermarket support. I tow, an towing is important to me. I like that 10 speed Transmission. Not totally sold on that V6.

      Having owned the truck now for over a year, I can tell you that I have 0 regrets and am super stoked on the power and overall build quality of the truck. I would say the only thing I miss on this vs a V8 would be the exhaust note. Aside from that, this truck has been a work horse.

    How does the tundra pull with the Travel trailer loaded. And with more people in the truck? Looking to get a 36ft travel trailer under 7800lb pulling with a 22 tundra sr5 TRD off road package. Your thoughts?

    I have a 2022 Platinum with the tow package and airbags. My camper is 600lb tongue weight, and 5000lb dry weight, and it significantly squatted my truck. The factory airbags did nothing to offset set the squat. My question is can I replace the factory airbags with the ones you are showing?

    Are you running a weight distributing hitch also. Thats a lot of psi. I ran a set of these on my 2nd gen with a WDH and maybe 40 psi to lvl it out even when loaded heavy for a vacation week. My camper is 34' 6300 dry weight. Definitely looking to add to my 22 Tundra to help out the coils a bit with leveling, but i do run a WDH always with something our size.

      For the sake of this video I didn't have the WDH connected, based on previous experience with other trucks, with a wdh the bags will be round 40-50 psi. In my opinion running a weight distribution hitch in conjunction with helper bags is the best way to go.

    So, is the compressor water proof, like crossing a stream?

    • @GearheadJT
      @GearheadJT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good Questions, according to AIR Lift:
      Question: I tow a boat, can the control system components (compressor, manifold, etc.) be submerged in water?
      Air Lift: Although the control system components can withstand the elements such as rain and snow, we do not recommend submerging these components as they are not completely sealed waterproof units. In this case you might consider mounting your compressor system components towards the front of your vehicle instead of the rear.
