I so agree with this. And even though Hussain Dalal had done a decent job as a dialogue writer in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani he messed it up big time in Brahmastra. The dialogues just ruined the performance of the actors for me. I hope the dialogue writer is changed too.
I don't think the love story is the problem... It's the fact that the love story takes up SOO MUCH of screen space in the story and sort of overshadows everything else is the problem Most Spiderman movies have the love story at the centre but doesn't take over the entire plot hell, baahubali also had a pretty big love story going on but didn't take up the entire plot
Love Story adds to the Screenplay when it develops organically and doesn't hinder the goal of the protagonist. Also, audience should feel an evident chemistry between the lovers. I'd tell you, Chemistry between Munna & Circuit was better than Shiva & Isha.
They need better chemistry. Deepika’s chemistry with both Ranbir and Ranveer is fire unlike thanda chemistry of alia ranbir but Ayan needs to inprove dialogues. The writing is poor the dialogues extremely poor.
I thought the chemistry was fire. The girls in the theatre were loving it while .en seemed bored. TBH dialogues were the flaw not the chemistry. On the scenes where the didnt talk they looked at each other so sweetly
Deepika's chemistry with Ranbir and Ranveer is considered to be fire because she has done three movies with Ranbir and four with Ranveer. As someone has rightly pointed out its the dialogues that underwhelm the performance and not the chemistry between the lead actors. Personally I loved the moments in which Shiva was mesmerized with Isha and was completely transfixed when he saw her for the first time. The climax was also good when Shiva ran upto Isha amidst all the destruction and rashiya was playing as the background score.
1. SRK vaanarastra should have been more explored 2. Nagarjuna sir character also ended abruptly 3. Ranbir acting chops not well explored 4. Post interval 30 mins were dead slow 5. Dialogues were even more bad then a Cartoon Network Hindi dubbed versions 6. Amitabh Bachchan the guru how come it began wasn’t at all explored So that means there are more misses then hits and we are unfulfilled
Every film has a certain flavour. A superhero film is not supposed to deliver Satyajit ray level depth mixed with woody allen level nuanced story based cinematography . This superhero film, just like Avengers, Iron Man etc etc, is meant to be an adrenalin rush and a huge whistle inducer. Also, on a different note, the world class India rendered VFX is something we all should be so so so proud of an Indians. To each his own and I understand that you have your own opinion, which is perfectly fine, I just couldn’t help commenting because it’s almost like ppl have stopped looking at glass half full and it’s almost like it’s become cool to be a critic!
Couldn’t agree more about Alia’s character…. Till the last minute i was waiting for Alia to come up with something so it all makes sense for her to hop on to a journey with a complete stranger 😢
I guess she was with Ranbir for purpose. It was not coincident that suddenly Ranbir found him n he got his power. Perhaps she would betray him in future.
@@shashianandtoppo that would be crazy, i am hoping they give her something to redeem for what she has been reduced to in this part, i am not able to digest that there was no much significance of her character considering Alia is sucha capable actor
@@shashianandtoppo Then what about the whole 'power of love' thing? The thing that love is something bigger than the astras. All of that would go down the drain. Sure, Alia's character is suspicious but, if she betrays him in the future, that would absolutely make no sense. They definitely have to redeem her character in the next part.
What was the point of making her a Bengali (Isha Chatterjee) if the only purpose is to mouth a couple of Bengali dialogues at the pandal? It sounded awful, too, being a native Bengali myself. Get ready for more of this in Anushka Sharma’s Chakda Xpress.
@@shashianandtoppo that’s like almost every Ranbir movie. The girl just serves to be a tool for his character’s development. Isha had no depth, no personality, no arc of her own.
Ranbir and Alia felt out of depth. While Ayan’s writing was a letdown in terms of the love story I feel like Ranbir and Alia too failed to portray magnetic chemistry and attraction in a fantastical way like divine paths crossing. Very few actors can elevate a weakly written script and add in their charm and pure acting chops. These two sadly aren’t and rely heavily on good writing and direction. Can’t believe a screen test wasn’t done.
It's like, if they are saying, then it is there lol 😂 Divine crossing was Shanti & Om in OSO. If it was 90s or 2000s SRK would've killed the character Shiva 🔥No one can play a deewana aashiq as him!
There are occassions where even someone like Rajkumar Rao has struggled because of a weak script like Fanny Khan. A good performance needs a solid script irrespective of your calibre.
This is a wrong notion. No matter how brilliant an actor you are it's difficult to elevate a weak script. Even in Gangubai Kathiawadi the second half felt a bit of a drag in a few parts but Alia Bhatt's performance was so powerful and nuanced that one could not help but admire her. Its not easy to do this everytime. Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor are self-admittedly director's actors. The director is akin to an anchor of a ship. His vision has to be laser clear so that the actors can emote in a better way. If the storyline is deeply flawed there's nothing that an actor can do no matter how brilliant he or she is.
It has to be Ranveer because there was a closeup shot of hands of both Dev and Amrita for a few seconds and guess what the right hand didn't have 6 fingers. :P
The love story wouldn’t be as much of a problem if the love story was as grand and soul-wrenching as they projected it to be, which it sadly wasn’t. The two hands meeting of Dev & Amrita had more chemistry than Shiva & Isha had. Yes Love is the most beautiful thing but don’t let it eat the whole movie. But I loooved the VFX. I’m so proud that Indian movies have finally have gotten to the place! I’m still keenly waiting for part two. I just hope the writing gets as much of an importance like the VFX did!!
Yeah it felt odd because their love was supposed to be so powerful that it’s even more powerful than the Brahmastra. Lol that’s really unbelievable since they barely knew eachother. They either should have just kept the love story on the side, or if they wanted to give their love so much importance they should have developed their relationship more.
" The two hands meeting of Dev & Amrita had more chemistry than Shiva & Isha had " lmfaoo the concept of two people who harness one of the most powerfull astra's after brahmastra is more intriguing since we are talking abt the world of energies & astra. I understand the importance of simplicity in love tho, also when their hands meet the sort of influence they created by overlapping some opp colour strands was beautiful to depict from romantic pov
Films like Sadak, Kalank and Brahmastra have exposed so called good actress Alia Bhatt. She fumbles when the script is bad and the character is not written well. Actors like Kalki, Konkana, Vidya will thrive even in badly written roles. Alia's acting has been praised as if she is some Meryl Streep. All thanks to Kjo. A good actor will act good even when the script is bad.
They lifted heavily from the Harry Potter plot Dev Amrita - James Lily Amitabh - Dumbledore Brahmansh's young warriors- Dumbledore's army in Order of the Pheonix Ranbir being Agni Astra - Harry being a Horcrux Dumbledore's line love is the greatest magic- Amitabh- pyar sabse badi taakat hai
I would say Dimple was Professor Mcgonagall, but she did nothing more than just got Alia around in a helicopter. And SRK’s character is kind of a ripoff of IRON MAN
@@darshanshettynow it's not kuch bhi. Ayan Mukherjee himself confessed that Harry Potter was one of the influences growing up. There were other influences of course. But these were very prominent influences in the plot.
Like Anmol said in one of his tweets, that no matter how much one analyses the film - the audience is enjoying it ! That's the validation a movie of this scale requires. Having said that, the core characters need to place a stronger connect with the audience for the upcoming instalments to work. Every character you introduce needs to have some role to play in taking the story forward. For example: What was the point of introducing Shiva's friends to us when all the very supposed to say is bantai bachi. What's their contribution in Shiva's journey? If nothing, don't introduce them! Why mention Isha being rich and Shiva being poor if there is no underlying context to it!! Fingers crossed for the second part !!
Only 38% recovery is done.big flop on the way. Looks like it wont even cross the rrr hindi collections even afte getting much higher weekend.stop defending a shitty film.
Most of the introductions I found illogical but i think Shiva being poor and Isha being rich has a reference to mythology......Lord Shiva absolutely had nothing no family no home no wealth......yet Devi Parvati who was the daughter of King Daksha fell for him and left everything to marry him.....so that can be a reference.
@@debosmitaganguly3961 that is a good idea but I wish the movie actually touched on it then, no point in having that be the reference if you don’t hint at it and no one catches it
Shah Rukh Khan's cameo was the best part of Brahmastra. Loved it. The man is made for the big screen and it shows in every frame that he is in. Such a God level screen presence and SuperGod level talent. Everyone in the theatre instantly started cheering and whistling ar Khan's entry and his bits. Ayan n Karan should chalk out a good script for SRK as the lead. ❤
I wish they had Hritik in part 2 alongside Deepika. Hritik completely fits the part of a superhero and both him and Deepika are good looking people. They would really have a sizzling chemistry and a new pair to bollywood.
I enjoyed Minnal Murali more than Bramhastra since everything was so engaging. I wish we also give more attention to movies which are really good even though they don’t have the grandeur. And count them as our best super hero movies. Also, I would like to see different super hero powers which are rooted in our culture.
The truth is if we keep supporting movies like this Bollywood will keep making more big budget laser shows with zero substance for the next 10 years. Better to support smaller movies like Tumbbad or regional films like Minnal Murali. These movies deserve the recognition Brahmastra is getting.
Bhai first time hain ...koe v perfect nhi hota hain .. atleast chance to do...may be second part main aur v acha ho..kitna classiccal film dkte rhega ...
@@samsayungvlogs1454 yeh first time nahi hai bhai, Bollywood has been making fantasy mythology and superhero movies for years. We had Mr India in the 80s, then Rakesh Roshan made Koi Mil Gaya and Krishh, and Shahrukh Khan made Ra One. And don’t forget Rudraksh, Jaani Dushmaan, Drona etc. Aise “first time first time” kar kar ke har baari then we will never improve. How many more “first times” do we have to tolerate in Bollywood?
Its so amazing to see Jammy growing so huge in the critics world. I was one of his first subscribers when he didn’t even reach 10K. I trust his reviews as his comments exactly match what I think
If the makers of the movie just go through the comments and fan theories, they will have a brilliant foundation to lay on... They just need to first realise ki kahan glti hui h and then try very hard to work it out...
The story lacked soul and direction. The acting was also bad which no one has pointed out strangely. The dialogue delivery was so bad. And they made the whole movie about love being the most powerful but the love story lacked any depth. Even if it’s the destiny thing you have to commit to it which they didn’t. They wanted a modern cliche romantic story while also wanting audience to buy the old school destined to be with each other phenomenon. And because of that it was all over the place. We don’t feel anything for them or their love to believe that their love is more powerful than brahmastra. Ranbir was terrible for this role and i feel another actor would be more suited for this role. Dev seems a more interesting character and could be an amazing anti hero and i hope ranveer is the one who is signed up for it.
You have written exactly what I was feeling when I saw this movie. Literally gave me headache. So much waste of money and time. They should have hired a better director and screenwriter
🤣🤣🤣 it's funny how they all have the same expression of cluelessness throughout the movie. A part of me wants to talk to Ayan about what he honestly thinks about the movie. Because honestly speaking, it's a very slippery sloppy movie. And this is coming from a person who was rooting for the movie. The bad acting can also be attributed to the horrendous dialogues. Also some people are confusing story with screenplay. They certainly had a potentially great story, which was absolutely murdered by the screenplay.
@@zuko_24568 that’s his face in his coming of age man-child movies also but it suited those characters and made people hail him as this second coming of marlon Brando.
if you think they're acting was bad then u should see how bad u are, everyone tries to put in their efforts to entertain u guys and yall just give unnecessary criticism. Criticism is required but this is extremely baseless
For me brahmastra was a lump of disappointment packed with good VFX ! >Bad acting (except for Amitabh, >Mouni Nagarjuna and srk) >Bad writing >Terrible dialogues >Mediocre directing ( & I know Ayan's potential and other works ,hence a greater disappointment) >Unnecessary song in the beginning ,aka dance ka bhoot (no wonder 400cr expenditure, what a waste )
being able to talk about the flaws of a well made movie with so much respect is just a fresh breath of air... loved this discussion! Love you Anupama ❤️
The whole thing about how the astras are something you *hold* (other than Ranbir's Agnyastra) is a huge bummer. The two sidekick villains did more with the nandiastra and vanaraastra than Nagarjuna and SRK did. The world building sucked big time but everyone acknowledged the potential. Hope they go back to square one and make part 2 awesome!
Exactly! The side kick of Mouni survived longer than Nagarjuna with Nandi Astra 🥲 And I particularly didn't like the idea of bringing in guns in a world of Astraverse world or something related to mythology. It felt like two different worlds colliding in a bad way! If the guns had so much power to kill someone with a Nandi Astra or Vanara Astra , what's even the point of an Astra!!!???
I mean really?😂 I have never seen such efforts to justify the bad story and worst dialogues. BTW I have seen the movie. Script is bad and dialogues are the worst. Only Shahrukh and Nagarjuna are the good elements of the movie and once they left everything just falls apart.
Ayan was so inexperienced for a project like this....Look at Rajamouli...Till magadheera he just did normal films which good stry nd characters....Even in magadheera he did just a small part of vfx past life stry which takes place in king nd queens era...then he did eega with good revenge love stry nd then he made baahubhali....thats what a director needs experience which ayan clearly dont have....
I have my doubts about Ayan being this amazing director. To be honest he has a bias towards Ranbir and wasn’t really suited to the hero role here. He should have cast someone else.
The vfx should be supporting a story...thats how film making works. But in this case even after spending mad amount of money the film is getting mixed & negative reviews. What the hell was ayan really doing for so many years? And why the hell they did not realise that half of the movie is just "SHIVAAAAAAA" Absolutely disappointed. U cant just say that vfx to itne ache the yaar coz u cant set such a low bar by accepting pathetic script with ridiculous dialogues like tum meri button ho!!!
@@amruthaparulkar1405 That film was made to attract us in a different way..are you saying Brahmastra should have had such over the top nature? Don't compare. The ambience of the two films are very much different than one another.
They should make intercut spinoff movies (or a single movie), with SRK + Vanarastra & NA + Nandiastra & Guruji for world building purposes (like the history, how Bhramhash was formed, who were the early weilders/guardians of the astras, importantly the importance of kavachs etc) before part 2 & 3. Let they take all their time to work on the latter, koi jaldi nahi! ✌️
Great chat! Would be amazing if you were able to ask a lot of these questions about the script and dialogues to Ayan if you can get him on. Would be an interesting chat and hopefully help Ayan to fix these in the sequel.
Everyone's criticizing the dialogues. What were they doing all these years? Just like LSC they worked too hard on aspects other than those that actually matter. Vfx alone won't make the film interesting.
@@rdpathan Aamir's acting and the Punjabi could have been better. I think they got carried away with the lengthy process of adaptation and getting the rights of Forrest Gump.
The underwhelming aspects that they described at the start of the discussion about poor dialogue writing, weak screenplay, love story taking up lot of space of the main plot, etc are enough to understand that it is a badly made movie. I don't know why people try too hard to defend this movie and pretend to be waiting for the second part. Most of Hollywood franchises ditch the idea of a sequel if their first part itself doesn't deliver properly. When you can't get the primary aspects of making a movie correct, forget about making a pathbreaking, superhero movie in Bollywood. VFX and CGI cannot save you. Also, one important point which critics don't actually bring out is that this movie was initially supposed to be inspired by Rumi (hence so much focus on the love story) and later moved to AstraVerse; I guess the makers were thinking of cashing in on the recent Hindutva wave in the country. This brings to my point that the movie took so many years to make was because the director himself wasn't sure how to bring about his idea in the movie and jumped from one plot to another. Tumbadd took 6-7 years to make, but it remained true to its core idea and we could see how well made that movie was.
My Family hasn't been to the movies since Hero:Love story of a spy. They absolutely loved it. Especially the younger lot from my family. My cousins forced my sister to take them to watch Brahmastra twice already. This is the reason why a lot of Disney/Pixar/animated movies work at BO. As parents leave their kids in the theatre and relax.
I guess this is also the reason why the dialogues were dialed down so that this demographic could understand easily……n obviously bring their entire family alone…….smart business strategy too😊
@@MyMintu007 still you don’t need to make the dialogues so dumb. Koi Mil Gaya and Krishh movies were loved by kids and those movies still had good dialogues
This is a bit like awarding a consolation prize for participation....Movie of the year? I watched this movie twice so my support was there...was it a good movie? NO. Was it middling an childish...YES.
I admire the JAPANESE, they come up with original content in most of Animes and they have been doing it consistently. While India struggles to create something original even after giving 10 years in a project.
HAS to be DeepVeer as Dev and Amrita... I can't think of anyone else especially given their backstory I can already see the glimpses of Raam-Leela I don't want to be another person talking abt this but Ranbir Alia don't have that on-screen spark that Ranbir-Deepika or Ranveer-Deepika have

I watched in theatre and throughly enjoyed the movie… story and VFX amazing… now a days everyone seems critics if this movie would have released before covid in 2018 or 2019 it would have been blockbuster
I still believe that the best super hero genre movie is Bhavesh Joshi in terms of scripting, and in terms of scale, bgm and vfx, Ra.One was too good for last decade. Brahmastra is more of a sci fi, mythological than a super hero. We need a Tony Stark in Bollywood, reboot Ra.One with Aryan Khan or someone of his age, kinda Spiderman of our universe. We can have Chitti, Krish, Bhavesh, Shaktiman, G.One, Minnal Murali and Shiva and Dev (like Thor). Kabhi kabhi sochta hoon mein hi script likh doon. 😂
If they had cut out the whole 5 minutes of animation and amitabh voiceover, the whole movie would have worked better. Because they explained everything already, the dialogues and characters appear dumb!!!! We already know everything! Had they not revealed and explained everything, we would be as excited for each detail revealed!
Why don't we just accept the fact that movie is so bad that we have so many drawbacks and bad aspects of the movie to talk about but very very less things to appreciate about. Yet, we are so dying to make it sound like it's a good movie. But why?
I was hoping they made the villain girl twin sister of hero ,one goes with mother and another goes with father. That would've been more interesting. PS. I am still mad that they killed air bender who was most interesting out of those side character and proceed to be happy
Prithviraj Sukumaran, director of Lucifer, decided to start the pre-production work for the second part L2 Empuraan after spending all the time with the writer Murali Gopi and locking a script to the core. I wish bollywood with the big budget and actors can spend a little more effort into getting it right on paper first. It felt like Ayan went from his vision and imagination straight to shooting and creating the visual extravaganza. Another thing I felt was about editing, the movie opens with the introduction by Amitabh Bachchan but he is not shown, then it introduces Ranbir, quickly skips to introduce SRK, and before letting that exhilarating set piece settle down you are back to Ranbir and then his first sight of Alia. The visuals also change from a temple scene in Mumbai to a modern penthouse in Delhi and then again back. It was jarring. I wish if they opened the movie with the Scientist (SRK), in the modern setting of a Delhi penthouse, with no explanation of the astras and brahmansh. Then when that awesome SRK intro is over (obviously with better dialogues), and Mauniroy gets the piece of a rock (keep explanations for later) and finish by killing off SRK. (she found the scientist by herself so i guess she can find the artist too, it could have been a mole in brahmansh, who was in favor of Dev, to be revealed later), SRK possibly dies with the dialogues of light vs darkness and then you introduce Ranbir.. Take time to tell his story, meeting alia, develop love story and kesariya, only when he sees the news of Srks death on tv he gets the vision.. As his connection is with Dev, when mauni goes back to dev and talks about finding Artist only he gets the idea to go find Nagarjuna. And keep Nagarjuna as the protector of shiva and alia until shiva gets his full power, and he could have been killed by the possible mole in brahmansh. Shiva and alia escaping that car chase themselves was too good to be true without shiva having powers. Nagarjuna takes them to Amitabh and then he tells the story of brahmansh and astras.. Interval block could still happen, as Nagarjuna is fighting Mauniroy and other villain, the second guy attacks alia and ranbir protects her, but hurting her badly with fire. Then he could explore his fear for fire with Guru and take the time to explore his family story. Potentially while alia is getting healed, by power of brahmansh and he cant leave without her. And it could go on.... And they should have finished with showing a menacing Dev for real (Ranveer most likely). I wish also if shiva also had power of water (something unique in astraverse) combining abilities of both his parents. When Mauniroy uses it against his fire i wished for that. May be it could have been great reveal for Alia, as a possessor jala astra, and send by guru to find shiva. This movie has such a beautiful vision, budget and cast. Hope bollywood can improve the way it tells these stories.
Unpopular opinion: i want Ram Charan to play Dev in part 2. After seeing him in RRR, I don't think anybody can play Dev and be at par with Ranbir Kapoor or even better.

Thank you, my lady, for your late take on “Bhramastra” (“Illusion Weapon”). I will eagerly await your late take on “Brahmastra” on that fine day in the future when you stop looking down on Indian languages.
Nobody mentioned anything about acting of Ranbir Kapoor. Has finally people got to realize what I had realized long time ago. He is a mediocre actor. People unnecessarily hype him up. And not talk about him when he is bad. Just spare him. But certainly didn't forget to down Mouni. But Anmol backed her up. I get impressed by the guy and his sensible nature, diplomatic ability the more I see. Anupama is just trying to turn the negative aspect of it to positives. :p "How of ten does it happen that you say what could have happened ? " :D
As u asked in the end, regards chup: y giving so much importance to critics. Well here u r openly disecting a film together, which is entertaining for the viewers but doesn't go down well with film makers. Critics surely have the powers to a large extent in makin a film a success or disaster. That being said, nothing is beyond word of mouth public feedbacks.
Ayaan Mukherjee just announced a Vanarastra spinoff. Maybe they'll either announce a separate series for Nandiastra or cast him in that same movie and name the movie after the both of them.
You can see the glimpse of ranveer singh in post credit scene of brahmastra where he is standing and looking upward ranveer singh in beard look watch that again
after watching RRR from Rajmouli Sir this brahmastra movie is a torture to human senses and waste of money. telgu, tamil, kannada, malyalam movies have taken indian cinema to the next level, RRR is biggest blockbuster in US cinemas and these mumbai blokes cant catch up. the international production houses have to just invest in south movies to get their profits, mumbai folks have miserably failed to give returns.
Ranbir doesn’t have the balls to act alongside RS because he knows he will chew him out raw just by his sheer larger than life screen presence. So all his fan boys can rest easy because this is NOT happening.Left to him, Ranbir himself will do it or take a lesser actor to play Dev.
Iron man had a small think called an “arc” or “soul” where they showed billionaire playboy understand his old ways and how he needs to put others before himself. This movie Brahmastra on the other hand I fear set Hindi cinema back 10 years.
Before Iron Man, Marvel didn't have any attempts at "MCU" or do their own movies so I don't know who told you that it happened. Blade, X-Men, X-2, Spider-Man 1, Spider-Man 2, all happened before the MCU (by different studios) and are to this date, considered to be better movies and scripts than most of what the MCU has pushed out. If anything, this apologia is pretty much the end of Indian Cinema, it seems, because people are willing to eat garbage and make excuses.
Iron Man was the first MCU movie. Brahmastra is the first Astraverse movie. You should actually be comparing Brahmastra to the first Iron Man. Bollywood has already tried this concept before, we had Mr India, Krishh and Ra One, so Brahmastra is not the first attempt. That’s an excuse people are using to defend the movie and ignore how bad it is. How many more “first attempts” are we going to tolerate from Bollywood?
I really hope that the makers work on the dialogues in the upcoming parts of the film and also understand that we don't really want to see the love story aspect of the characters....we are watching the film because of what's the story behind 'brahmastra'. That is why we chose to see the film at the first place. Rest, the film was amazing 🙌 can't wait to see part 2🥺
this film 100% deserves the support, truly an admirable effort by the entire team. sure, it has flaws but no film is perfect, it should just be enjoyable to the audience. really looking forward to part two cuz i know Ayan takes audience criticism very seriously, can't wait! ✨

Like the various failed (or at least compromised) attempts to craft an MCU-style universe, it puts plot over character, mythology over in-the-moment intrigue and future-tense exposition over present-tense entertainment. As you (should) know, the MCU became the MCU because it focused on the core heroic characters (and their supporting allies) and prioritized establishing winning cinematic variations on its marquee characters. It treated the interconnectivity as a seasoning or a garnish. Part One - Shiva is entirely interested in generic world-building with almost no time and energy given to specificity. It banks on the abstract concept of superheroes and cinematic universes (with generic lore that is randomly cobbled together from Marvel, The Last Airbender, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars), arriving in theaters in 2022 like a mistake from 2018.
If they could have given atleast one bramhansh member a backstory the movies standard would have elivated.... A little guy get killed and Noone felt nothing... Noone even talked about it in any reviews .. If they could have give him a backstory or how he's struggling to control his powers or not paying realy attention as he's kid but in battle he proves himself and saves isha and then died it would have given so much depth..
and none of the characters even cared afterwards that poor Tenzin died😭 seriously I don’t understand this movie at all. There was no emotional connect to any of the characters, no depth to any of them, everyone was so one-dimensional.
I wonder if this movie was directed by SS Rajamouli sir himself what changes would have he made, especially with the budget and VFX he can play around with.
Tbh SS RAJAMOULI uses the vfx as a tool to enhance his vision. But he would have definitely made the core story really emotional that you will feel every emotion of the charecters. Eg: Makkhi. How beautifully he establishes the. Love story of Nani and Samantha that you literally feel pity for the insect(Makkhi) and hatred for Sudheer.
Saying that audience are enjoying the film is a bit premature and whoever is calling it successful already, is out of their minds. Film of this scale has to have legs to turn any sort of profit and everyone should at least wait until the second weekend is over. I haven't seen anyone who has wholeheartedly enjoyed this film. The feeling that it has to be watched in theatre and hype around it has helped it over the first weekend, but for long legs the storytelling has to connect and I have my doubts on that.
Top notch VFX and CGI. Great score and music overall. Cool action sequences. Interesting setup for the sequel. Does have flaws but there always is room for improvement. As much as people hated the love story aspect and Alia Bhatt's overpresence in the movie, I think Shiva needed Isha particularly for the climax to channel his powers in order to save the world or to save Isha since Shiva can trigger his powers through Isha. Srk's character being named Mohan is what feels like an 'easter egg' since Ayan was the assistant director for Swades. I feel that Ayan should've kept Mohan for longer so that he could maybe team up and meet Guruji(Big B) and Artist(Nagarjuna). I also feel that Vanarastra(Srk) was underpowered given what they could've done with the potential of that Astra, atleast visually. We should give this movie a chance but with an open mind because Ayan and the team of Brahmastra have spent a decade to not only create this particular movie but to create the Astraverse despite various challenges and setbacks and this is the first time that a movie of this scale and magnitude is coming from India. The setup for the sequel is actually good and I am very hopeful to see the necessary changes for the second movie in the Trilogy. Great attempt overall and a great leap for more Vfx and CGI driven movies from India!
The years to bring the cast, create a universe, learn the vfx, BIGGEST bring money and have AMBITION to do this while he could have made ye jawani hai 2 or something and just be done with it. You may not like how it turned out but many have and thats why its doing the numbers.
@@narufan5999 I agree with this completely. This level of VFX is not easy at all to showcase on the big screen. What people do not understand is that Marvel and DC movies have a separate budget allocated specifically for the VFX but in case of Brahmastra the entrie budget of the movie is Rupees 400 crores (that includes VFX). Even though I agree with the fact that the storyline was a let down but I have huge hopes for the second part because there's a lot that is left to be discovered. A lot of the plot loopholes would be resolved in the second part and there would a great character development too because there's a lot of really interesting fan theories floating around which go to show that the movie has generated this huge hype amongst the audience about the story.
@@shashianandtoppo Not when you have grown up with most of them. People tend to forget that Ayan's vision wasn't funded, his acquaintance was, which is completely okay, that is how it works. But that doesn't make it revolutionary when it's so bad. People don't drop 400 crores on others even with proof of concept, and Ayan had none. Hell, Kashyap wouldn't get 400 crores even if he had the vision. The movie is bad by 1980s standards, because that is how far back Terminator and Back to the Future go. There's no excuse that this is "good by Indian standards", because Indian standards really can't be 50 years behind the rest of the world.
They have been telling lots of drawbacks and underwhelming aspects of the movie throughout the video, i mean they only talked all the bad elements yet don't want to accept the movie is bad. Imagine, the movie is not Brahmastra and is not some big banners' movie, they would have bashed the movie as an worst one. But the hypocrisy alwys reaches the peak for this channel.
@@sunnys3628 Ofcourse I'm also looking forward to part2, but this doesn't mean the part 1 is good. It's absolutely pathetic, the dialogues were too cringe and so more things to bash about, they left so many things unanswered not smartly but illogically, the concept was new so let's hope part 2 does justice to the concept. And come on let's admit, the part 1 is the one of the worst movies of recent times. Why so hard to accept?
I think lots of people haven't seen the interview of Ayan . He already stated that the love story is core of this movie. And it's introduction of Shiva from normal guy to the man who has power. And one thing the story is very simple to understand and they saved good amount of stuff for second. Some people saying that the story is difficult to understand , which is literally hilarious. I think it's too straight. It's a good watch.
@@zuko_24568 I agree that the dialogues written were not that impactful but it's the first time they're doing something new. It's okay if it has flaws. I hope they do it better in the next part. But blatantly calling a film crap (like so many are doing) is a bit appalling.
The improvements needed in the next two parts was well captured in this interview, food for thought for Ayan here. I think all of us really want this venture to work, the emotional connect here is with the director and the vision, only because of which this movie is working.
I would say the biggest downfall of the film is the lack of emotional connection the audience has towards the characters, because they are so flat and one-dimensional. Had Ayan spent more time fleshing out the characters and adding depth and substance to them, the audience could have become more emotionally invested in them. I just felt nothing towards them. The whole film I felt indifferent, like I really didn’t care if Shiva and Isha lived or died because I barely even knew them in the first place and I wasn’t able to root for them on their journey. Junoon’s character was also one-dimensional and her motives were not well developed either so it was hard to even care about if she gets the Brahmastra, because we don’t even know who she is or why she is doing this. The supporting characters were also wasted, the first part should have been all about introducing and establishing the supporting characters. The Pandavas in the Brahmansh should have been developed more and their team should have been established as characters the audience care about and root for, yet there was none of that. They are just random people. They each have like 1 or 2 lines each. The team in any fantasy series is super important and should be at the forefront, they should be able to connect to the audience, yet all of this character-building took a backseat to an unnecessarily forced love story and VFX laser show. The movie lacked heart and soul and that humanistic quality that would have kept us emotionally invested in the story.
“I’m so happy people are going to Theatres” is the equivalent to praising a public speaker about making eye contact during a speech. Doesn’t really matter if the movie or speech is god-awful.
@@meghac23 brahmastra was always going to open big because of the cast and scale. But think of the reviews people are writing. People were exited to see it but came out feeling empty and underwhelmed. But to praise such mediocrity because “ohh I’m glad people are coming to theatres” is how expectations have fallen. Now any movie that releases will be “hey look a movie released.” Whether if it’s good or not won’t matter because people are choosing to go in person versus staying home and waiting for it to be released on OTT platforms
@@meghac23 that should be the bare minimum for any movie that is released theatrically, such a sad state bollywood is in right now that getting people to come to the theatres is considered an achievement
I feel the movie's issue is that it gave pyaar so much importance. People aren't old school now. They know shit like pyaar isn't needed in such a movie where the story is telling us something gripling. The story without the love story was really good I felt. Screenplay could have been tighter but all in all the movie was really good. When I say good, I don't even consider the love story.
People are misjudging the love aspect of the movie. People are judging the movie on based on what come before , what MCU and other movies have shown. Not on what Brahmastra is trying to tell. In Average romance is not important but in Brahmastra part 1 it is. Imagine if people complain while watching Superman and Luis why there's so much romance bcs Justice League doesn't hv it.
@@Vor567tez the love story and dialogues are cringe. That's the issue. That's why the love story wasn't needed. If it was a good one and fitted the plot, no one would not want it.

This movie had budget, top actors and best of the bolly technicians but.. let us down. I was seriously hoping Alia's character to surprise me till the end and it just shocked me with a lame love story! Hope part 2 is better

This movie no doubt deserve huge support from the audience becoz this time we are witnessing some thing new in Indian cinema. I guess part 2 will be more story based VFX. However I think there was reason to emphasis more on alia-ranbir relationship. Becoz in another part there would be a huge role of this relationship however it was exaggerated in this movie which audience found peculiar n absurd. hope next part will be more entertaining 🔥🔥
Please get screen writer or director of Minnal Murali for Part 2 if it happens. That movie made on 20cr had me more invested in the characters than this movie ever could.
How does it matter to us as audience whether a movie is cheap or expensive? It needs to be good and minnal murali was good! Way better than this! This movie was sooo expensive! what’s the point? He took 10 years so make this lol
I feel the Mallu guy who directed minnal murali should be employed as screenwriter for brahmastra next parts
I so agree with this. And even though Hussain Dalal had done a decent job as a dialogue writer in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani he messed it up big time in Brahmastra. The dialogues just ruined the performance of the actors for me. I hope the dialogue writer is changed too.
So true
Truly Agree. Ayan should read this

I don't think the love story is the problem... It's the fact that the love story takes up SOO MUCH of screen space in the story and sort of overshadows everything else is the problem
Most Spiderman movies have the love story at the centre but doesn't take over the entire plot hell, baahubali also had a pretty big love story going on but didn't take up the entire plot
Well I feel the problem is that the love story isn't emotionally engaging enough that's why the climax also doesn't make much of an impact
they should have just made them good friend in this part and in following parts develop their love story slowly
Love Story adds to the Screenplay when it develops organically and doesn't hinder the goal of the protagonist.
Also, audience should feel an evident chemistry between the lovers.
I'd tell you, Chemistry between Munna & Circuit was better than Shiva & Isha.
@@enigma2336 I don't think any "good friend" of mine would break into my house and steal my belongings (Shankh) like Isha did.
I agree, I found their screen time and the dialogues very cringe. They werent able to emote very well. Loved the VFX though!
They need better chemistry. Deepika’s chemistry with both Ranbir and Ranveer is fire unlike thanda chemistry of alia ranbir but Ayan needs to inprove dialogues. The writing is poor the dialogues extremely poor.
I'm sure that'll be taken care of, since that's a common feedback he must have gotten from watchers in his inner circle
I thought the chemistry was fire. The girls in the theatre were loving it while .en seemed bored. TBH dialogues were the flaw not the chemistry. On the scenes where the didnt talk they looked at each other so sweetly
Chemistry was just ok.
@@seemonjena659 lol deepika had good chemistry with Ranveer singh in Ram Leela which was their first movie together
1. SRK vaanarastra should have been more explored
2. Nagarjuna sir character also ended abruptly
3. Ranbir acting chops not well explored
4. Post interval 30 mins were dead slow
5. Dialogues were even more bad then a Cartoon Network Hindi dubbed versions
6. Amitabh Bachchan the guru how come it began wasn’t at all explored
So that means there are more misses then hits and we are unfulfilled
Every film has a certain flavour. A superhero film is not supposed to deliver Satyajit ray level depth mixed with woody allen level nuanced story based cinematography .
It's like, if they are saying, then it is there lol 😂
Divine crossing was Shanti & Om in OSO.
@@seemonjena659 Absolutely a brilliant actor needs a good script otherwise the best of the best come across as jokers on screen.

No one is enjoying it. People have hopes until they land in the theatre. They come out dissapointed.

And nobody is bothered by the fact that the director literally ALLOWED these crap dialogues. Which means it did not seem crap to him
The underwhelming aspects that they described at the start of the discussion about poor dialogue writing, weak screenplay, love story taking up lot of space of the main plot, etc are enough to understand that it is a badly made movie.

I watched in theatre and throughly enjoyed the movie… story and VFX amazing… now a days everyone seems critics if this movie would have released before covid in 2018 or 2019 it would have been blockbuster
It’s a bad movie aside from the vfx
One more such example for people is Salman khans shitty movies and Aamir khan’s dhoom 3 … which has no idea and script still people watch
But I did cry at the rasiya climax when Ranbir went to Aliya .
Also shakthimaan
Go ahead. Right a script.
But why?
Exactly there is very little good in this movie. All the bad stuff outweighs any good in it making it overall bad.
This comment is much better than the film. Ayan should consult you as script supervisor

Thank you, my lady, for your late take on “Bhramastra” (“Illusion Weapon”). I will eagerly await your late take on “Brahmastra” on that fine day in the future when you stop looking down on Indian languages.
If they show ranveer than all mysteries and curiosity will lost. So smart work by Ayan.
A sharp analysis indeed. With three feature films behind me, I still believe that the script is one of the most vital aspects of a movie.
I think it's a start to new gen. Before ironman MCU had failed so many times. So maybe this is start of new indian cinema hopefully
This is too optimistic of you.

I hope Nagarjuna and SRK come in part 2 as well (Nagarjuna character was shown to be healing himself with the Astra then possibly he did not die.)
It was a lovely experience seeing the film in a packed Imax. After a long time saw a packed cinema for a Hindi film.
He would have made the movie strong on emotions. Brahmastra has no emotional connect
I don't know what people are looking at when they say that Ayan's hard work shows.
Bringing people together n convincing producer to produce such a large scale movie is in itself a hard work I guess.
Pathetic movie. People are taking their standards to new lows courtesy PR talk of 10 years of effort.

The improvements needed in the next two parts was well captured in this interview, food for thought for Ayan here. I think all of us really want this venture to work, the emotional connect here is with the director and the vision, only because of which this movie is working.
Loved the movie. I'm gonna watch it again

Screenplay could have been tighter but all in all the movie was really good. When I say good, I don't even consider the love story.
People are misjudging the love aspect of the movie. People are judging the movie on based on what come before , what MCU and other movies have shown. Not on what Brahmastra is trying to tell.
