Songwriter - Alex Miller and Jerry Salley
Project - My Daddy's Dad
Label - Billy Jam Records
Lyrics
Born in 1947, a prayer sent down from heaven
The only child his parents ever had
In the heart of ‘ole Kentucky, he grew up an Opry junkie
I’m the one who’s lucky to call him my daddy’s dad
By the time he was eleven he’d found his obsession
Cutting burly they raised in the field out back
While he was still a young man, he inherited the farmland
But He stood ten feet tall in his overalls that’s my Daddy’s Dad
He’s the reason why I play and sing
To me that old man means everything
Growing up he was the greatest grandpa any boy could have
My Daddy’s Dad
At 26 he married, and soon my Nana carried
The only son they would ever have
They named that baby Roger, and he became my Father
A stubborn man with an iron hand, just like my Daddy’s Dad
He always dreamed I’d be a big star, He bought me my first guitar,
A six string with a homemade leather strap
Music was his passion, and it’s funny how life happens
The biggest fan I’ll ever have…..that’s my Daddy’s Dad
Mending fences and forgiveness
Hoeing weeds and common sense
Life lessons that he taught me
Someday I’m gonna miss
The reason why I play and sing
To me that old man means everything
Growing up he was the greatest grandpa any boy could have
My Daddy’s Dad
Yeah, growing up he was the greatest Grandpa any boy could have
My Daddy’s Dad

My favorite scene is when your cousin asked you about your Grandad, and you start telling him and teaching him things. Love your Classic Country Music🎉
Wow that is a beautiful song !!! Should be on the radio in heavy rotation…
We’re gonna try!
Share it with other people. The more the better. Get some veiws. I am. First time hearing this young man. Awesome voice. Just subbed also.
I agree with u
This is a great song. Sounds classic. Just don't think it fits in with the new age country of today. I prefer classics like this. Great job!!
This is a very beautiful country song ; daddy’s dad. Your grandfather would be very pleased with you and I know that your father and mother very grateful for! Sharon Stephens
Thank ya!
I'm 65. My Grandad was a horse man. Never saw a better one. He taught me all things horses and mules. He learned from his Dad via Army posts out in West Texas working for the Army, back when Indians were still a thing for settlers and the Cavalry was a horse endeavor. If horses and kids love you, you can judge a man quick. If they love and trust you, you are the real deal.
That’s awesome!
West Texas is a hard place to work or live. Thank God that life is over for me. 1:40
Now that is country. Great song.
Thank you so much! Hello from Kentucky
Yes it is. He is going to keep the country music country.
Stay like you are, and us old country fans will be with you.
Love this song. My grandpa was a farmer. He knew alot about animals what made them sick, and how to make them will again. He wasn't a Veterinarian but his friends and Neighbors called on him if they had a sick animal. Even after he move into town and Retried from farming people would call him to come look at their animals that was sick. I remember going with him to look at sick Animals. Grandpa never drove a car so if someone ask him to come check on they animals Daddy would take him and I would go along with them. He passed away when I was 13. He was a big Influence on my life. He ask my if I would learn to play the tambourine but I wanted play the guitar. I wish now I had done it for him I know now. I could have done both.
Dan 🇺🇸
A perfect song for a beautiful tribute to your grandpa 💙🥲😘
My mom's dad was my hero & still is even though he has been gone for many years. One of the hardest workers I have ever seen. I miss you so much grandpap.

That was beautiful! Granddaddy would be so honored.
Thankful is the word he always said, I’m so thankful that I got to know him
@@AlexMillerCountry I just found you on TH-cam by accident and I'm so glad I did. Your voice is incredible, reminds me a lot of Ray Benson from Asleep at the Wheel and you have that country/swing genre about you too. It's insane that you're not played on the radio at least in Tampa Bay you're not. All I can say is you are BAD ASS and continue what you're doing because your voice is INCREDIBLE!!!!
Great sing great country voice. Enjoy your Opry debut Alex! CONGRATS!
Lost my daddy’s dad last fall at 90 years old. He cut over 400 acres of grain the previous harvest and about 75 harvests before that … miss him every - drive his truck and replay all the stories he told For those that still have grand dad around - Take every minute you’re given to spend with him and be thankful for every one!
August 15th will be 5 years since my daddy passed
Thank you for sharing. I miss my grandad every day. When I read these stories bring him back me a little so thank you.

You are a great story teller young man . Beautiful tribute to your Paw Paw.
I think so too!
I love your music ❤
I heard you left idol because they wanted you to change your music. I don't blame you. Your music is awesome. I love it. Stick to your guns . It's real music. ❤❤❤
The way I felt about my Daddy's dad. He was an ole time preacher man who had 11 sons and 1 daughter. He was my hero growing up. Love this song.
Well thank you!
Sounds like a great man!
Now that's a great song! how does this not have more likes and shares!
Exactly!!!
Good stuff brother . I’m from Henry county , my grandpa was John Berry… senator , tobacco farmer , choir singer, guitar picker, but my favorite title was papa. This reminds me of him. He taught me my first four chords on the guitar, taught me about Jesus, and taught me how to drive the tractor and salt the cows … really and truly this feels like home buddy.
It sounds like our grandpa’s would’ve been good friends. That’s the description of my grandpa as well.
I love your old, traditional country music. You don’t have real country music like this anymore that tells a true story about real life. This is real country music.
Well thank you! As much as my grandad loved Country Music, I know this comment would’ve made him smile.
Good video. My favorite part is the start with the little cousin. Made me think of my childhood.

Got to grow up working for, and with, my Dad and my Grandpa in the woods. Wouldn't trade that time for the whole world. This is a truly great song. Oh, and he would probably tell you to take the cap off the hydraulic oil bucket next time. Lol. Best wishes to you young feller, you're going places. Live your dream.
😂 my dad has given me grief for that too! I wasn’t about to pour that hydraulic fluid in there 😂
Love this Alex.
