I lost my dad in January. He was so independent, started going down hill. Caught his face on fire smoking with oxygen on. He had COPD and Emphysema, plus many other heart related problems. It was a couple hospital stays before he passed away in our home, on hospice. It hurts my heart so bad everyday, but I just keep telling myself he's not in any pain anymore.

I grew up without a Father. Congratulations man! I'm struggling myself. I'm homeless at the moment, it's going on 3 weeks now. I'm keeping my head up, trying to stay positive. My dad raised my brother and I , literally let us live there until we were ready to leave. He moved to California and I stayed in Georgia, he did a great job as a parent. What an amazing song. My mother passed 5/20/18 and my father 25 days later on 6/15. I guess after 68 years of marriage, "till death do you part" has some meanings. When my oldest son 17 years old at the time came to me on his 17th birth day and asked me to go to a Us marine recruitment office with him to sign up for the Marines I cried like a broken hearted baby because I was so afraid of losing him. It was very hard for me but he assured me that he be ok I caved Joshua is his name out of the Bible the book of Joshua he served our country with honor he made me feel so proud I held my head up and felt like I was right there with him well he was more with me in my thoughts and prayers and my mind but none of this compairs to what God gave up for the whole world he gave us his only son Jesus we should all be thankful for God's sacrifice to us and for us thank you Tyler this song means a lot to me

I don't know you circumstances or situation but I know your better off without him. Don't let him take up, space that he clearly never deserves, know you deserve more then what, he was ever willing to offer. My older boys wasn't in their dads life growing up either. One of them now has a girlfriend and her children in his life. He said to me one day..."I'm gonna be a better dad than the one i had. Everything I know I learned from my stepdad." Stepdads are special people. They do what others won't. Usually there is a mother, aunt or even a neighbor or friend that has helped someone out when it was needed. One can be that special person that someone needs by just "wanting to". The smile you get in return should fill any emptiness you might have.

I miss my Daddy every single day. I have struggled with it harder than anything in my entire life. Loosing him could have easily turned me into a monster. Instead, I let it turn me into the best version of myself and he’d be so proud! I kept my word and kept the land, I’m an awesome Momma to his beautiful granddaughter. He was so in love with everything about her! I am very healthy and proud of myself as well. Fast forward, 6 years later.. Just last month, on the anniversary of his death, 4 days before my birthday, I flat out ACED the NREMT. (A HUGE, EXCRUCIATING, and extremely TERRIFYING test you have to pass, to become an EMT. It must be done t a National level of competency before you can get a state license) September 26th will FOREVER be a day I won’t forget!! What used to be the worst day of my life, is now one of the greatest days to celebrate, right along with my Dad’s memory! My Birthday no longer stings either. I received my state license on that day. Praise to God for allowing me to transform the dread of that time into a beautifully welcomed memory, for the rest of my life. I’ve never felt more honor in my heart!! To have been given the gift to change a bad day forever.

Reading this just brought me to tears. Today i got news that no one ever wants here: my dad has cancer. Its a rare form of blood cancer, and with treatment, life expectancy is 15+ years. Still, though, its a wake up call that my time with him is limited. We may not always see eye to eye, but he helped make me the man i am.
I remember my dad taking me on construction sites (mainly our house cause we built it) when I was young like 6 and I’d have a tiny tool belt with a hammer two screwdrivers and a tape measure that man taught me construction, demolition, plumbing, electrical, hvac, and mechanics when I got my first car and now he’s losing his grip on reality and I only hope my sons can learn these trades from me and they think about me the way I think about my father a man who bled to put food on the table and knew how to fix everything

My dad is a Vietnam vet. Served 2 terms. And he is sliding. Absolutely killing me.
I lost my dad in January. He was so independent, started going down hill. Caught his face on fire smoking with oxygen on. He had COPD and Emphysema, plus many other heart related problems. It was a couple hospital stays before he passed away in our home, on hospice. It hurts my heart so bad everyday, but I just keep telling myself he's not in any pain anymore.

My dad passed yesterday morning, he was 86 yrs old, I am 57. I can’t believe that every person on the planet has to deal with this at some point in their lives, it is devastating. This song says a lot of things I shared with my father especially the past few weeks, he will always be my Superman. Even in dying he brought our family much closer to each other. Right now all I feel is sad and lost.
When your lost,
When your empty,
When you need a little help,
He’s always there.
And just know, if he can’t be there for you physically, he’s there 10x for you spiritually. You just have to accept that and move forward. Acknowledge him. Just like you would if he was right there. He might as well be.

Today was the 1st time I herd this song. It comes 1 year to the date 8/8/2020 of my Dads passing. Beautifully sung. How true the words are. Yes he was superman to others but Dad to me. Thank you for this heart touching song.

I know, how you feel it like a bitter sweet kind of feeling.... Happy for the people that get to have this experience, and sad cause it just didn't work out for you. I don't know you circumstances or situation but I know your better off without him. Don't let him take up, space that he clearly never deserves, know you deserve more then what, he was ever willing to offer. I hope, you able to move passed this and realize it ok, to grow up without a father. I know, it hard to come to that conclusion but it ok to want better for yourself. You're not selfish for broken a bond that was damaged from the started, it isn't your fault to know your worth. I will be praying every turned out alright for you.

My older boys wasn't in their dads life growing up either. One of them now has a girlfriend and her children in his life. He said to me one day..."I'm gonna be a better dad than the one i had. Everything I know I learned from my stepdad."
Stepdads are special people. They do what others won't. Usually there is a mother, aunt or even a neighbor or friend that has helped someone out when it was needed. One can be that special person that someone needs by just "wanting to". The smile you get in return should fill any emptiness you might have.

Lost my father in 2006, he was 64. Not a day goes by I wish I could get just five more minutes. After I became a father in 2016 to my son and then again in 2020 to my daughter I get it. The man was amazing, wish I could have said it more to him while he was around.

I lost my dad almost a year ago, but I used to sing this song to him all the time cause it reminded me of him and I played it at his funeral.
I miss my Daddy every single day. I have struggled with it harder than anything in my entire life. Loosing him could have easily turned me into a monster. Instead, I let it turn me into the best version of myself and he’d be so proud! I kept my word and kept the land, I’m an awesome Momma to his beautiful granddaughter. He was so in love with everything about her! I am very healthy and proud of myself as well. Fast forward, 6 years later.. Just last month, on the anniversary of his death, 4 days before my birthday, I flat out ACED the NREMT. (A HUGE, EXCRUCIATING, and extremely TERRIFYING test you have to pass, to become an EMT. It must be done t a National level of competency before you can get a state license) September 26th will FOREVER be a day I won’t forget!! What used to be the worst day of my life, is now one of the greatest days to celebrate, right along with my Dad’s memory! My Birthday no longer stings either. I received my state license on that day. Praise to God for allowing me to transform the dread of that time into a beautifully welcomed memory, for the rest of my life. I’ve never felt more honor in my heart!! To have been given the gift to change a bad day forever.

Reading this just brought me to tears. Today i got news that no one ever wants here: my dad has cancer. Its a rare form of blood cancer, and with treatment, life expectancy is 15+ years. Still, though, its a wake up call that my time with him is limited. We may not always see eye to eye, but he helped make me the man i am.

I remember my dad taking me on construction sites (mainly our house cause we built it) when I was young like 6 and I’d have a tiny tool belt with a hammer two screwdrivers and a tape measure that man taught me construction, demolition, plumbing, electrical, hvac, and mechanics when I got my first car and now he’s losing his grip on reality and I only hope my sons can learn these trades from me and they think about me the way I think about my father a man who bled to put food on the table and knew how to fix everything
This song resonates with me so much! I have cried through listening to this what seems like a million times. I've raised my son, now 28 years old, as a single mom and had to be both mom and dad when his dad had abandoned him. My Dad wasn't just Grandpa, he was there for us and showed my son morals and values, and how to be a man. He also just turned 80 years old and still is helping me. He has spent time sheet rocking, and patching walls in a mobile home to help me. Your last line of your song, "And I am the man that I am.. because I call you Dad", when I sing along I change it to," I am the woman that I am.. because I call you Dad".
