I buy a truck to haul things when needed. Fire wood, lumber, bags of fertilizer, lime ect. Why not buy an SUV? I never understood buying a truck and installing hard or soft covers and/or tool boxes that ultimately counterfeit the usefulness of your truck bed…
I like the hard cover for the winter months when I dont haul much. It keeps the snow out of the bed and when I need the space.....it tips up and out of the way and I get 100% use of my bed. Granted its only a 6.5ft bed.....but i use it like an 8 footer. The ol Tundra just keeps on doing what its told.
You can still do everything you listed with a drawer system or truck camper. Yes at a reduced capacity you can still use the bed of a truck for what most people use their truck beds for...

Where did you get the foam from in the left drawer
Yeah and you can take the decked and camper top off and make it a truck again if you need to haul things…whereas you can’t do that with an SUV
