7:22 was the most helpful part. On a 2007 Grand Prix, I had The exact same leak in the exact same place. I had already bought the return line and was dreading all that work, then you said in hindsight you could have just replaced that one metal part. I still had to lower the subframe but I had it done in about 30 minutes thanks to that little tidbit
@romariolewis2354 I've done this last year and it comes off even with multiple clamps. Usually happens when temperatures go below freezing. A small flare on end of metal line would help and that's my next option . Pushing the hose over it will be more of a challenge. After that my next option is just to fix it with a new part. But a 200k mile car doesn't make me to excited to replace the full line.
I just bought a 08 with 70,000 miles on it 3.9. It was a government car it’s leaking all in the front. Everybody says it’s the hoses. Is that easy to fix?
Okay first of all great video second what about the steering shaft I'm going to do this right now and I'm assuming if you drop the subframe you only have so far before the steering shaft will come apart so I'm going to take the precaution and just unbolt the steering shaft from the rack this way nothing bad will happen.
I didn't disconnect the steering shaft and did not have issues. Check out the pinned comment and around 7:22 to avoid replacing the whole cooling section on the front of the subframe.
How stupid of the engineers to create this problem, across the line across the years... For some stupid little plastic cover... This is why no one buys American and keeps it for 220k miles.. I had a FJ cruiser for 436k miles.. No stupid repairs other than differential vent filter placement..it got clogged and blew a seal. Worst thing to happen other than wheel bearings.

I just cut off that bad section, which happens a lot on this model, and replace with hose and two clamps. Cheaper and easier fix. Great video though!
That's really clever! Thanks for sharing
I did this but it just keeps coming off I even used 4 clamps ….any suggestion ?
@@romariolewis2354 depends on if you're on the high pressure or low pressure side. You might need smaller hose and clamps?
@@HardwayLearning what kind of clamps and hose did you use?

I learned a good bit of valuable information about my car this video was so helpful to me .
Glad it was useful!

How did you disconnect from the rack. Did you lower the sub-frame or go from the top?
Came in from the top
@@HardwayLearning gotcha I tried myself couldn’t break them loose. Think I’m gonna need a crows foot. Thanks for the reply

I thought the cooler line was the low pressure, cuz thats where the fluid cools down?
It most likely is, if I said otherwise I probably miss spoke!
@@HardwayLearning I probably mis-heard!
Hello I checked everywhere no leak but only at the shaft so I’m thinking it’s the pressure line so would it be ok just to change the O ring?
That or give it a quick tighten?
Hey your video is really helpful. where are you locaded? Because i like to bring my car to you
Are you still doing weight reduction on your cars? What is the driver loses weight? How much do you weigh now?
Seats are back in the GTI, but they were pulled when we took it to the dag strip. Driver still hovering around same weight 🤘
mines leaking at the O ring, meaning the O rings go bad so most likely a lot better to replace the whole entire cooler line.
Might be worthwhile to get away with just the o-ring if your line hasn't corroded horribly like ours did
Awesome ty for the info
Glad it was helpful!
how much does it cost
The line? I think it was like $45ish
😂. Great job
Thank you! 🙌

It is odd that they thought they needed plastic tubing over the line. All it seems to do is trap moisture
how much does it cost
I can't remember, maybe $40 for the line??
