Exactly what I did especially since I used one for 4 years in high school. I'm like, why a drill press.... just do the mill!

Oh yes. I'd love to have a Bridgeport. So lets find one. Ok, so i need to figure out how to get it to my house. Now i need tooling. Now i need fixturing. Oh man that drill press is looking quite cheap now!

I would of put the Z axis on the knee instead of the quill since you have more fine control and is more rigid and just get a caliper for the quill.

3:05. yep. there it is. the ONE thing i dont like about them.
6:30 am, still sipping the morning coffee, spanner locked in chuck. reach up to lock the spindle...
went for the power, didnt i?
no injury other than a wack across the back of the knuckles, but we never found the spanner.
on the hunt for one, if thats there, im moving the switch.

Hey just a heads up, the power quill feed is really not designed for drilling. You can get away with it on small drill bits, but you will absolutely destroy it using larger drill bits. Its primarily to be used with a boring head.

Per the Bridgeport manual its rated for 200lbs of downforce or 3/8” in steel.

Very informative. I may have missed it but roughly, how far off a wall would a Bridgeport stick out. I have a shot at getting but need to make sure it will fit in the area I have planned for it….thanks

Around 60”, although it depends on how much you extend the ram.

Depends on location, somewhere around $1500 will get you a usable one though. I’m doing a followup video on what to look for in a used one.

$1500 ?? Kind of depends on your definition of useable. I am sure you might luck into one for $1,500 but if good ones were widely available for $1500 the Chinese could never sell a mill in the US.@@toolamanjaro929

@@toolamanjaro929 In the South anything that doesn't belong in a scrap metal yard is $3500 - $6000.
