Yay, another Dabuz Ult video!! I’d love a breakdown on Aegis in today’s meta. Most people still rank her as top 5, yet Sparg0, Leo, Cosmos, Snow, and (arguably) Shuton have all been more consistent with their other, lower ranked characters.
The problem wasn't just the nerfs, it was his archetype combined with the nerfs. But on top of all that, the fact that he got hammered with nerfs while other atrocities in this game went virtually or next-to untouched (Pikachu, Mario, DLC I'm looking at all of you) is just baffling.
Pichu is my favorite character that i play to this day and everything you said was basically spot on. i still think his self damage+weight is what's hurting him the most but yeah the post patch hurtbox made almost every move a negative disjoint
I like the video. I did not know the nerf of hurtbox size for the ears was that big. I would suggest Link for the next video to go over and how he fell off but no one talks about it. Maybe add a part where you play as the character in a match with someone or online to show it more.
Pikachu is currently probably my third best fighter, but Pichu has always had a place in my heart. His combos are just so satisfying to pull off, especially combos that cash out with the down b - chef's kiss. He's also (like pika) strong at edge guarding, which is always satisfying to me. Everything else about playing Pichu is a stress induced nightmare xD Definitely agree the two biggest things were the F-tilt nerfs and hurtbox increase. Before the hurtbox changes to Olimar and Pichu i was seriously considering co-maining them, that could have been nasty xD
would love to see a video like this about greninja! he’s a character i don’t see given much consideration by top level players despite having an insane matchup spread
I'd definitely say high tier without nerfs. Still good, still capable of winning a major under a good enough player, but a lot of DLC characters and late meta characters make it really rough for Pichu. If you can overcome those matchups, though (which would be much easier without the nerfs), a top level Pichu would have a realistic chance at winning a major
@YOSSARIAN313 I agree that no nerf Pichu could win a major, but the downsides are still enough to where pre nerf Pichu is still worse than Pikachu in the modern meta. In the 2020 or maybe even early 2021 meta, maybe pre nerf Pichu would be better, but absolutely not in 2023 onwards. The higher emphasis on patient or sometimes outright campy play as well as whiff punishing just exacerbates Pichu's weaknesses more than it does Pika's, especially because if Pichu tries to camp, they can't just throw out a ton of T Jolts like Pika can

The hitboxes or the ftilt, not *both*. Just one of those epuld have made him fine. Probably still a top 20 character with one of those.
for some people often playing against pichu, probably gluto and oryon since they play locals often with NaetorU

If Pikachu can win a major(like shinymark) unnerfed pichu definitely can.
