@@ingenierocivilenlinea2316 Absolutely. I initially came to Canada on a spousal open work visa as my partner was in Canada on a study visa while attending graduate school at SFU. He then graduated and transitioned to a postgraduate work permit (pgwp). When I went to renew I thought I could simply renew my open work permit directly. I needed to apply as the secondary applicant on my spouse's pgwp instead and he would be the primary applicant. Neha's instructions were helpful in completing the form so that I could reapply for a spousal open work permit on my partner's pgwp. Let me know if any of this is unclear as it was quite the journey.

I wonder if an SOWP holder is allowed to work before the Study Permit holder starts the course. I'm asking because my spouse started working a few weeks before I started my course. Now to extend the SOWP they are asking for work history, but the start date is before the course's start date (back in July 2023). THANKS!

1. Can you apply your spouse owp extension even if the main principal is still not graduate?
2. Do you apply your spouse owp extensuon same time as your PGWP application?
3. Does the main principal need to have a job under NOC B to be able to apply for spouse extension.
4. In the employement section, you leave the portion blank, what if the spouse has a job?
5. Did your spouse get the extension?

When you applied for your pgwp, was your ielts valid I mean was it within 2 years? If not, which option did you select in your imm form for the question "have you taken language test"?
I selected yes. I thought since we have taken IELTS in the past that’s why.
Can I put self employed job in employment section or not?

Thank you for the detailed explanation. I have one question. If you are on sowp and your spouse is on a full-time study permit. When and how should you renew your sowp? Like, will it be automatically renewed once your spose extend their study permit. Or can i only apply for an extension if my spouse has a study permit extended? So first, my spouse gets a study permit extended, and then i apply for my sowp extensions?

2. An initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer
3. Restoration of your status as a worker
4. An initial or an extension of a temporary resident permit

Hello, Thank you for subscribing. 1. We didn’t submit any medical documents for applying extension. 2. We have not submitted any police clearance certificate also. However, we are still waiting for an update on extension.

I have a quick question, please respond. In the employment section, are we supposed to enter current ongoing employment in Canada? Or is it just for the prior 10 years of experience?
My spouse is working as full time employee in Canada so we showed his current experience as well.
Hi, if your spouse is not started working then current employment section gets highlighted with red color. In that case the form is unable to validate. Any idea what to do ?
Hi.. In case of spouse open work permit extension...Initially it was not applied for any worker, So while extension do we still select "Apply for work permit with same employer" in 3rd option?
We selected this option of same employer as other options don’t look like correct ones. We got our Sowp extension few months back.

In case of student visa extension and Sowp extension together I don’t think it’s necessary to have a job for the spouse. You can apply for extension.
