I’ve never been able to justify buying a DJI drone. But when I saw the DJI Phantom 3 SE I knew it was probably the one. It will record in 4K resolution and has a 4 Kilometer range. That is 2.5 miles which is WAY MORE than far enough. I don’t plan on going that far but it would be nice to have a solid video signal a mile out. Most of the features work really well on this and I’m sure it will just get better over time with new firmware.

I think this may be the only in depth English review of the P3SE currently on TH-cam. Thanks, I am getting close to pulling the trigger. Can you tell me what you have found on the negative side, regarding this version?

+beav1962 I think I covered the negatives. I try not to leave anything out. The Follow Me wasn’t great. The Waypoints aren’t quite as flexible as some drones.But overall it just works.
Just make sure you buy from a retailer who offers free refunds. I ordered it from China and had video downlink issues, they got worse, I sent it in several times and DJI always said it was fine (but it wasn't), then I tried to fix it myself, voiding any warranty that it might have, sent it in one more time, and they replaced the Wi-Fi board, and I'm still having issues (connection loss at 150-200 meters, although admittedly one of the controller's 2.4G antennas is broken).
You don't want that to happen to you, so make sure you can easily send it back if necessary.

I generally just remove the sd card and pop it in my PC.
I just bought 1 last month. The instructions does not cover the s1 and s2 switches. Your Video helps alot. I guess I'm just an old fool but, I don't like cell phones. I'm being dragged into the 21 century kicking and screaming if I want to fly this drone. Guess I need to buy 1. On a nicer note; I hope your family has a Happy Holiday. God Bless the little ones. :)

Its almost impossible to justify buying everything you need just to fly f.p.v.!!! Good remote,goggles,drone,But when i tried it I liked it so much i made it justifiably!! If that is even a word! And i just like flying fast so im going for a fast race drone. But i would love to have a drone that had g.p.s. and all that cool stuff that those "other" drones have. But untill i win one im going with a racer i love speed!! Great videos i watch everyone and like them keep em coming!

I paid about £360 ($475) for the SE, I had always been put off by the price of other models, and the P3 Standard spec wasn't tempting at all. I do like this quadcopter but I had lots of problems with the app running on Android, as such I've only had a handful of decent flights, after SO much messing about I found DJI GO works best for me on Android 6.0.1, picked up a used Nexus 9 tablet because I found my 5" phone screen far too small, all seems to be running OK now... just need the time and the weather!

Just bought a new p3 SE. While on test flight I experienced disconnection with the aircraft right away. It did not go 50 meters away and I lost signal. I fly it with some wi fi around the place. Was it because of the interference?

It will auto focus, yes. The hard part for this drone now is finding it for sale.

Thank you for the compliments. Make sure you are not under anything when you take off. I know someone that started under a tree for the shade and when it returned to home that became a major problem.

Did you have any issues with the wifi signal? I just got it and only have tested once but the wifi signal to my tablet was really bad and would disconnect constantly from as close as 30 feet. Then I check the wifi signal on the tablet and the signal says turned off. Maybe it's the tablet? Or do I need to plug it into the remote?
Why did DJI use a Phantom 3 standard remote control for the SE instead of the higher quality one used in P3 pro & advanced?
I think because this was made to compete with the Xiaomi Mi Drone and had to be able to stay competitive price wise.

Looks like most of the 3SE videos are a little jitter, the gimbals must be not as good as other models.

Hello, if the command of the professional model is used, will the fpv range be extended? why 200mts of fpv is very little! ... I think even Xiaomi my drone 4k makes it much better!

Thanks for the video. I currently have a Xiro Xplorer V. That has a 3 axis gimble, recording in 1080p (exclusively) and was wondering if I was worth the upgrade (mainly the 4k).
+Thomas Gehrdes Jr I am not familiar with that drone sorry. I like the 4k though. Not so much so I can display things in 4k but it gives me a lot more freedom in getting the shot that I want. With 4k I can zoom, pan and scan and get a great 1080p shot.

When It's on a follow me mode, does it track the transmitter?
I believe so. It doesn’t give any indication it is following an object on screen.
I thought it tracked the phone's GPS coordinates like it does for changing the return to home point
I have a very important question for you. Now my girl got me this same version for Xmas so I'm learning what I can. Its not my first drone at all!! But first dji. My question is do I have to update the software using the memory card method? I saw videos where that had to be done. It was a video from 2016 but I need to make sure. I thought I just update the firmware on the dji go app and calibrate the compass and all that n I'm ready to fly. Can you please let me know. Thank you!!!
With this model you just update it through the app, no need to install via a card or anything.
DroneRacer101 that's great news man thanx!! I was just reading on a dji forum that people were asking about sdk files and not being able to use litchi apps and others. It's not that big a deal to me, but I did plan lb trying that litchi app. Have you tried using litchi?

Hello. I intend to buy a phantom 3 se drone. Do you have any idea if it can be used with a phantom 3 advanced remote controller? (I had a p3 advanced that I lost but I still have the remote. And that remote is modified a little so that I can sit in my car and control the drone from there)
I don’t, but I don’t think you can get a 3SE anywhere anymore unfortunately. It was a really nice model.
@@SimRacer101 I found the SE model on a store in my country(Romania) and it is at a very low price, aprox 600 USD. The thing is that I have the remote left from the lost drone, twoo spare batteries, the transport case and twoo or three spare proppeleers sets. The best choice for me would be p3 advanced but unfortunately that one I cannot find at any store... So this p3 SE would be the best alternative if it could be paired to the remote...

The batteries, case, propellers, etc would work. But I’m almost positive the P3 Advanced remote will not work with the 3SE. Does the 3SE not come with the remote?
The live stream looks very laggy is it always like that?

I don’t think you can get the SE any more.
You can still find it in Denmark. But I don't know which one would be better. If the Bebop 2 had the Phantom's camera... it would be no contest, since I like the Bebop 2's more sturdy build and the Skycontroler 2 over the wobbly Phantom and its fat controller :)

Hey man, nice video! I only could get 160 meters in distance (max). Do you have a sollution for this? I didn 't put beginner mode on neither did i select a maximum distance. I have no restricition zones near me, but a lot of appartments. Could this be the other Wi-Fi routers interfearing? I hope you can help me.

Hey, question how is this model different from the previous Phantom 3 4k model?
The biggest is range. The 4k is only rated for 1200 meters. Less than a mile. But the SE is rated for 4000 meters. About two and a half miles. I haven't had the change to do a full range test yet, but I have had it out over a mile without issue.
