Alot of people I know say they dis-like this song because they are singing about " cheating" . I suppose you have to have lived the situation in order to understand and appreciate this beautiful song. It's about the " one who got away". Doesn't mean you don't love who you are with. Not all break ups end badly, sometimes relationships just need to end, and you can still love that person.....There is really no other love song like it.

There are a few other good songs that come close. The Mayfield Four "Eden (Turn The Page)" , Black Lab "Time Ago", to name a few.
I’ve lived a version this song, prior to that phone call (didn’t recognize the number) I hadn’t spoken to her in years. Before that, I would’ve thought had I talked to her again I would’ve felt anything but positivity. You just don’t know what you would do in a hypothetical that will never happen, until it does. I didn’t let anything come of the call, and I even told my then partner about it. It destroyed me emotionally for about a week, after I had felt all the emotions I was able to remember rationally. She was awful for me, and I couldn’t have been happier to have not gone down that road twice.
If you haven’t lived some part of this song, it just doesn’t make sense. Living the “what if’s” can hurt more than you’d imagine.
This was written by a Country singer. So it shouldn't surprise anyone that it's about cheating
Another version that still gives goosebumbs. When the original came out, I was a man in an abusive marraige. There was a woman I was working with who became the person who listened to my struggles. I worked up the courage to leave my abusive wife, and when I did, the woman I worked with swooped in and became my one in a billion love. Her and I have now been together since 2006 and we got full costody of the two kids i had with my ex, along with having two kids of our own.

The same thing kinda happened with me. I was with an EXTREMELY abusive man. Nearly beat me to death a few times. But I kept waiting for that beginning love to come back. And he got a new girlfriend he still called me daily and nightly though. He dedicated this to me because I had moved on too. Not to the wonderful man I’m with now. But someone better than him. But I just couldn’t not answer that fu*kin call. I’d look at the caller ID. This was landline days. And I’d put it face down and stop the ringer. But it’s ring until the person hung up. Because we didn’t have a machine. I was just locked in the cycle. I got out not much later. And now I’m with a wonderful man and I gave birth to our wonderful, magic son. ❤️ but this son has always taken me back to wishing he’d call. Or pick up when I broke down and called. Ughhh. I’m so happy i have my happy family and he is gone and didn’t take me with him. Down his road of drugs and jail. Or take my life with his abuse

This version and rendition of hearing from the girls view is such a wonderful idea. I love that the original singer from Hinder is singing in it. Always loved his voice. My son Grayson ran across this and sent it to me. Both of us have worked with Austin when he was Hinder’s front man in Richmond, Va. loved the original version, and love this version as well. So glad it got brought back around as a wonderful duet. Know it was painful the first go around, however it did open doors. Hope you can now enjoy this version. My parents used to have to sing this to me when i was like 4 or 5 years old. They even got me a little toy guitar to play along with hinder. To say this brought me joy would be a understatement.

Seems like the right place to say that I went to see Hinder in Quincy, IL in July and got tickets without realizing it wasn’t Austin fronting them anymore- nonetheless, saw the show… vastly different, to say the least. Austin’s got something so raw and decadent about his voice and it’s what made me adore Hinder to DEATH through my youth.
