When this came out I was homeless, on drugs, and then jail. I now have a house, job, and husband. This song and “Clover Cage - In the Moment” are the two songs that helped get rid of my depression. I just want to send love to everyone and I want everyone to know things will get better. We are in this together..I love you ❤️🎉
THANK YOU i liked the song, but i always felt it was messed up how everyone ignored it was about cheating on his girl, and it was viewed as like the most romantic song of its time in that genre according to radio play
I listen to remind me of the wonderful husband I have and how lucky I am to have him. He's right here. Some jerk of a cheater tried to get to me and I refused him. This song reminds me to be grateful.

This song, Better Than Me and Hinder in general have a huge impact on my life. My father left me and my mother when I was 7. Was incredibly stressful for us. But perhaps the worst of it was my mother's broken heart. I was really all she had, and I never left her. Any time I'd be with her when she was driving, she'd be playing Hinder, 3 Doors Down, Shinedown and lots of other artists who make these types of former love songs. They've always played in my head even 16 years later. If you took the time to read this, thank you.
This song hits home. It was the early 2000s. I was stuck in an unhappy marriage. Although I wanted it badly, counseling was not an option for my spouse. I met someone through a friend who was also in an unhappy marriage. We leaned on each others shoulder. We were able to talk to each other. So much in common. Our friendship quickly grew into more than just friendship. We saw each other as often as we could. After 8-9 months, our spouses began to suspect something was going on. We both came clean with our spouses and divorces were in our future. Something happened and I got scared of another commitment. I broke it off. Fast forward 20+ years and we are both happily remarried (to other ppl). We remain good friends, but she will always be my "one that got away".
Hidden meaning: The girl in black and white footage is dead , his talking to himself on the phone. There are many indications for this: 1) The candles in the video clip seems important, candles usually symbolize funeral and grief. 2) The name of the song "lips of an angel", people who die are refferred to as angels by their loved ones, meaning that they died and became angels. 3) For the people who are wondering " how come the blond girl doesn't hear him on the phone? She knows that this is not a real phone call. Just notice her looks, she's not angry at him ? she looks jealous of course but not angry ? why is that ? She seems worried about him, she wants to make him forget but she's failing. 4) The picture on his desk, when people die you keep their pictures right ? Otherwise why would he have this picture ? why keep a picture of his ex while living with his new girlfriend ? isn't he afraid that his blond girlfriend will see it ? 5) Song lyrics : " LET HER DIE DON'T WANT TO SAY GOODBYE " he doesn't want to say goodbye. His ready to feed himself anything to justify her absence. Anything ! He doesn't want to acknowledge that she's dead. .... his state of mind is so focused to make this fiction real, that he even got the audience to believe that this a typical love triangle about unfaithfulness and betrayal. The Man Behind The Scenes i agree with you, especially when he said “its really good to hear you voice saying my name it sounds so sweet coming from a lips of an angel hearing those words it makes me weak” this explains that the girl he loves is dead and is delusional.

@@littlekitties1517 An interesting interpretation and I could see where that could be possible. (I love it when songs can have different interpretations.) "According to Austin Winkler (who is the band’s singer), a real life experience inspired the song. And said experience had to do with Winkler finding it very difficult saying goodbye to his former girlfriend despite the fact that the relationship was beyond over."

been having girl problems recently. First heard this on a USB mp3 player from my cousin when I was 11. now im 26 and most of these words hit home and definitely differently from back then
Why do the hiding when you coudl've stop the current relationship and continue your broken relationship with that person that you love or desire? Some men likes the thrill .. a forbidden love makes you feel very excited but for me i think thats very selfish ,,coz youre hurting the other one person for doing it
I didn't know this was a time line of who's listening when this is more suppose to be bout the music and how it's so damn good and every now and then laugh bout his t rex arms in the video not said poor me I just found out I'm the girl in the next room give me attention
It's crazy, the memories that are attached to songs. We're different people now, with different people, but these songs still make me remember things I've long stored away.
This was me XD back then my whole family sleeps together and my mom isn't used to me having a bf. my bf is also from thousand miles away from me that's why he would always call me around that time. My mom would always wake up and nag me about it! xD
Dude I've been on a thing lately for this kind of music. I've been revisiting Nickelback, Deftones, Incubus, Puddle Of Mudd, Staind, Seether, Switchfoot, Creed, you get the idea this music was a true era.
Fun fact: Only less than 0.4% of the world are dying from corona virus. And over 99% of the world are alive and well. The world is not dying from COVID-19 mate calm down.
I remember I had a friend in high school who would be in the hall ways while everyone else was in class and scream this song and Nickelback songs to interrupt our classes 😂. You would be sitting in class doing work and out of nowhere you would hear this dude singing Lips of an Angel or How You Remind Me of the top of his lungs. We thought it was the funniest stuff ever, the teachers would get heated 😂 Dude was in a band and could actually sing
I listened to this as a boy, and that same girl is listening to it to this day I just wanna say you make a soft lil transgirl like me very happy to be who I am
Why would anyone want this song for their wedding? I laughed out loud when this song was played in my cousin's wedding. Guess they didn't have a slightest idea what this song is about.
I wouldn't consider it that nostalgic. Ambitious memories that strike cognitive onance to one's formulated perceptive memoir. This song is like a decade old
In Little Rock, Arkansas back when they were touring w/ Nickelback. They were pretty new still. Then i saw them at Riverfest in Arkansas and again at the Metroplex in Arkansas as well
I love the multiple meanings behind the line "honey why you calling me so late..." because not only can it mean late at night but it also can mean late in life. Now that he's already in a relationship it's too late for him and whoever is calling to be anything more than what they are now.
It's also one of my favorite interpretations of the song. in this video, the picture, the candles. The fact that the girl isn't upset or angry, but more concerned. It shows toward a man in pain at the death of a loved one, not cheating or anything. And he can't accept that she's gone and is going through motions of delusion to try and deal with the loss he can't accept.
This song randomly popped in my head while I was trying to sleep.. i couldnt stop singing it in my head so here I am at 3am listening to it.. such a masterpiece

It's crazy, the memories that are attached to songs. We're different people now, with different people, but these songs still make me remember things I've long stored away.
😔
Sting of the truth

Thank you God for allowing this song to be made
My uncle and I used to listen to this in the back of his 98 Lincoln town car. He was a soft lonely man

We dont search for old music
We search for old memories
EXACTLY!
OMG! YES!
Yes damn right lol
AMEN!!!!
YES!
Dude I've been on a thing lately for this kind of music. I've been revisiting Nickelback, Deftones, Incubus, Puddle Of Mudd, Staind, Seether, Switchfoot, Creed, you get the idea this music was a true era.
Enjoying this song while the world is dying.
Actually the world is still alive. Just exterminating the species that keeps killing her
Facts
same as here 😥
Amen and Amen!!!!
Fun fact: Only less than 0.4% of the world are dying from corona virus. And over 99% of the world are alive and well. The world is not dying from COVID-19 mate calm down.
The shit he does with his arms always freaked me out
He always played guitar and he didnt know what to do with them or something like that if I remember lol but could definitely be wrong
It is strange huh
Kinda reminded me of Steven Tyler
Is he trying to be a t-rex or a zombie
I can't not see it now
I come back and listen to these kind of songs simply for the nostalgia... There are no more TRULY GOOD morning wake up songs anymore
always coming back in this song
The older you get, the more you understand the lyrics.
So true I wish we could all just find that perfect one and all be happy but at times like this I suppose we are lucky to even wake up haha
That he cheats on his current with his ex
Yea I got that at 12

Im sorry for your loss brother, i hope your ok.
omg
I remember I had a friend in high school who would be in the hall ways while everyone else was in class and scream this song and Nickelback songs to interrupt our classes 😂. You would be sitting in class doing work and out of nowhere you would hear this dude singing Lips of an Angel or How You Remind Me of the top of his lungs. We thought it was the funniest stuff ever, the teachers would get heated 😂
Dude was in a band and could actually sing
This song, brings back to me so many memories!!! OMG. I discovered it again after too many years and now I can't stop playing it...
what a wild throwback
I listened to this as a boy, and that same girl is listening to it to this day

Why would anyone want this song for their wedding? I laughed out loud when this song was played in my cousin's wedding. Guess they didn't have a slightest idea what this song is about.
Unless this song pertains to how they got together and the 1 person who vkt hurt bas to bold back tears and watch it all unfold. Hmmm? Just a thought.
This made my day
HAHAHAHAH
Dafuq HAHAHA
OR one of them knew what it was about and it was foreseeing what the future will hold lmao

I started with Insomnia. Probably already listened to 20+ songs
Came here looking for a Weezer song and ended up here
Yup! This is number 7 from the grunge days.

When he says "My girl's in the next room sometimes I wish she was you." That shit is so powerful!

When I see that so many people still listen to it in 2019, I feel like I'm not alone in this nostalgic old school spree.
Caveira Haker we are here, you are not alone
Your not
And what's funny is I'm 16
Caveira not alone at all
I wouldn't consider it that nostalgic. Ambitious memories that strike cognitive onance to one's formulated perceptive memoir. This song is like a decade old
Meeting Hinder (especially Austin) and getting their autographs was absolutely amazing!
Where?
In Little Rock, Arkansas back when they were touring w/ Nickelback. They were pretty new still. Then i saw them at Riverfest in Arkansas and again at the Metroplex in Arkansas as well
Never thought this song was about cheating back then.
I love the multiple meanings behind the line "honey why you calling me so late..." because not only can it mean late at night but it also can mean late in life. Now that he's already in a relationship it's too late for him and whoever is calling to be anything more than what they are now.
Good point and it definitely is thought provoking on the actual meaning
It's also one of my favorite interpretations of the song. in this video, the picture, the candles. The fact that the girl isn't upset or angry, but more concerned. It shows toward a man in pain at the death of a loved one, not cheating or anything. And he can't accept that she's gone and is going through motions of delusion to try and deal with the loss he can't accept.
I had to screenshot this gem of a comment
I think you are an English teacher😂
@@krosse9692thats beautiful, damn, beautiful interpretation
