Fantastic video, concert footage & version of this iconic song! It is very emotional to watch, considering how it all ended up. Jon did like to be “boss” & I think Ritchie ended up resenting him for it. There was never true “equality” in that band, if one person is in charge, making all the rules & keeping the other four on the “payroll.” They had immense success & great times together, but Ritchie didn’t have the same contribution later on (maybe because of his drinking & rehab stints or the new “producer” Jon brought in) & their relationship changed. Ritchie wasn’t happy for a long time (could be why he drank so much) & wanted to be a “Blues Man” (like Stevie Ray Vaughn). When Ritchie left suddenly, in the middle of a major tour (for many reasons), that seriously affected Jon & the Bon Jovi Band. It ended their “partnership.” Initially, Jon must’ve been stunned & devastated - but he & the band carried on, without Ritchie. Jon has since forgiven him but it’s never been the same. It’s like “irreconcilable differences” in a marriage & the reason for many divorces. Both sides just say “enough is enough” & move on. That’s why I don’t think there will ever be a “complete reunion” - perhaps an occasional very special show together (maybe). Jon & Ritchie will never again be what they were in this great video collage. But they will always share an incredible history, memories & musical legacy together. There will always be a special “bond” between them, even if it’s distant. Like Jagger & Richards, Plant & Page, Tyler & Perry - Bon Jovi & Sambora (or just “Jon & Ritchie”) will forever be linked together, both in the mind’s of their fans & in musical history.
like most unions that are heading towards a different direction Richie stayed too long. He stayed for thirty long years with substance abuse problems I am sure because he loved Jon. Jon was like my way or the highway maybe on some things.
I don't think Jon wanted to accept Richie's very very loving and important role in the band that happened naturally with the fans and also with him as time went by. He desired to still keep seeing him as his employee. His name was the only really important name BUT Richie became just as important as he was in his own band.
He should never have continued the band with Richie being gone AFTER finishing the contract dates already in place when Richie disappeared. It was very important for him to prove his name was the only name that was worthwhile and he just all willy nilly replaced another musician to take his place to prove he is the only STAR.
NO, he is a shell of himself and so are the new faces in the band. As if a mom can just birth a new baby to take the place of the one who died like some try to do. Yes, he has admitted there is a VOID when he looks to his right now but it still is a VOID that cannot be replaced as he pretty much has said so why did he replace him??
How does he think the fans would take it IF another handsome face besides him became the front man for the band?? hehehehehehehehe. Jon and Richie are two very decent good hearted💕 men with flaws who are loved by millions including me. But Jon it is just too hard NOT to think of Richie when thinking of u.

As good as the guitarist is that you guys have now he doesn’t stand up to Richie’s playing and you can certainly feel the emptiness of Richie’s heart and soul in the music and the live performances. Don’t get me wrong I love you guys but we really miss Richie and I feel you guys are incomplete without him.

@@parisjok5311I really don't think Jon feels like he needs Richie. I enjoyed watching them together and would love to see them get back together. I don't think Jon wants that. Being on the road so much for 30 years, I could understand Richie getting burned out and needing to be there for his daughter. It makes him an exceptional man because there isn't too many guys that would give up what Richie did for their child. They were magic together but Bon Jovi isn't the same with Richie gone. Now that Richie's child is grown I am sure he could tour again. And with Jon's voice problem, Richie could take some of the pressure off of Jon. But Richie might not want to go back since the members of the band didn't support him when he needed them.

Richie is as real as can be he didn't expect to be blind sided by a power hungry egomaniac like jon cutting his solo tour short cause jon wanted to rush a album what about now to do a tour cause jon wanted to buy a football team Buffalo bills during the band bon jovis time off he didn't get the team serves him right

Sadden me I don't get to.see Richie in the band , never saw them in concert in person . Now that Ritchie is not in the band, I hate to see the media trying to make up evil rumors about him and John. I've had my best friend for 14 years, and we also have fought. Despite our disagreement, we are still good friends. So don't expect to see friends fight with each other every once in a while. A 30-year old friendship cannot be broken over money or anything else.

tico torres Cute name....Jon has said at least a hundred times that there was NO FIGHT, Richie just didn't go to work one day. They had played 20 cities of their BWC tour, all in N.America, (some in Canada, the rest in the states), so once Jon realized Richie was GONE, Jon frantically called Phil X who had filled in for Richie a few years prior because Richie's "brothers" sent him to rehab for the 2nd time. They LOVED each other, closer than a lot of blood brothers. So while Jon didn't say anything to get rid of Richie, he left. It was funny because he said he needed to spend time with his 16yo daughter. Where the fuck was he for her first 15 years??? Soon after leaving his last solo album dropped, and at that point, he was playing in the sheets and on stage with Orianthi and they are still together although they really don't play large venues compared to Bon Jovi. As much as I would love to see Richie back with the band, I don't ever see it happening.

Cómo todo en la vida nada ni nadie es perfecto, es parte de la vida. Cada integrante de la banda tiene su magnífica aportación, pero Jon y Richie eran dinamita, complemento, talento de voz y bajo excelentes. Fallo el elemento humano que mueve los egos y nos ciega, faltaron palabras, pero no cariño ni reconocimiento de una amistad más allá de lo normal, ellos eran dinamita juntos. 😢😢😮 Seguiré admirando y reconocimiento a Jon a Richie y a la banda completa. Jon sadly seems like he is loosing his voice but maybe they can get together again to say goodbye to the band all together. I definitely think it’s Time for the band to say goodbye but I feel like a movie about the band like Bohemian Rhapsody would be amazing. With all of them being producers and all being together again for the promo tour with the cast.

I moved away from my best friend, sister of the heart, and miss her SO much, so I have an idea of how much Jon must miss Richie, his brother of the heart. 30 years of friendship mean a lot of wonderful memories, as this video shows. I hope that Richie comes back, because Jon, David and Tico must surely feel a big void in their lives without him. Thanks for the video.
