Thanks for watching John. The music of the 60s is fantastic. These songs always put me in a happy place.

Great list! Simon and Garfunkel were always a constant in my youth, and as a much younger, more recent fan of theirs born in the 2000s I wouldn't have it any other way. They helped give me a great taste in classical and soulful music genres like folk and rock to name a few as opposed to the cheesy pop of today. Bridge Over Troubled Water remains one of my favorites albums ever to this day. The Boxer and the title track off of it are also two of my all time favorites. You've got yourself a new subscriber :D

Thank you for subscribing. Simon and Garfunkel were a terrific duo, it's a shame they couldn't have gotten along better and stayed together longer. Their albums are wonderful. Pail Simon is easily one of the 5 best songwriters in my lifetime. Appreciate your comments.

Nice video Rich, your editing is nicely done! Glad you gave a shoutout to one of my favorite's 'For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her.' Something about that song makes it hauntingly beautiful. Can't go wrong with your top 10... so many gems in such a short time. Great job!

Thanks for watching. Had to do a top 20. Ten songs wouldn't have been enouhh to properly represent their catalogue.

Hey Rich, It's good catching up with you here. Mentioning lyricists and you appreciating and highlighting that aspect of music here, I came to appreciate that a bit more, and the music of these guys this year from Shannon's videos. I'm usually coming from a completely opposite orientation being mainly an instrumental person, and hearing the voice mostly as another instrument blended in with them.
Really enjoyed your take and passion here, and very much relate to what you went through with giving your speech in school on them and people being bored or just not getting it.
Out of all these I've heard 'El Condor Pasa' would be my personal favorite. It strikes me as sorta surreal in a way. Plus I first heard it years ago on a radio show that was devoted to primarily instrumental music, so it stood out all the more for that.
Thanks for sharing these. Was really enjoyable. -Carm

Thanks Carmen. I appreciate your kind words and comments. The subject of Simon and Garfunkel always takes me back to that classroom. I should have had the foresight to know that subject matter at that time with that audience wasn't going to work. El Condor Pasa is beautiful musically, I understand why it would be your favorite of theirs. It is fantastic!!! Thanks again for watching, take care.

There’s no shame in liking Simon and Garfunkel. Probably the best duo of all time. Great harmonies and songwriting. It’s hard to come up with a top 10 because there are so many great songs. My top 5 would be 1. Sound of Silence, 2. The Boxer, 3. Homeward Bound, 4. America, and 5. Mrs. Robinson. My Mt. Rushmore of songwriters would be Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, John Denver, and John Lennon. Paul Simon, Neil Young, and Jim Croce would be close behind.

Hi Jason. I like your top 5, not too far off from mine. You're right, they have way too many songs for a top 10, that's why I went with 20. Still missed some that could easily be included. Anyone that dismisses Simon & Garfunkel and says they don't like them, needs their ears checked. They are amazing!!! Thanks as always for watching and commenting.

AMAZING video Rich! I love that you did a top 20 for these incredible songs! My favourite duo is Lennon/McCartney as I’m a big Beatles fan more than Simon & Garfunkel but they are my second favourite for sure! My Mount Rush-moor of lyricists would be:
    1-John Lennon
    2-Bob Dylan
    3-Paul McCartney
    4-Paul Simon
Keep up the AMAZING videos Rich, take care!!!😃👍☮️♥️

Thanks for watching my video, I appreciate your kind words. That's a great Mount Rushmore of lyricists too. Paul Simon definitely deserves to be in that company. I look forward to seeing you do more videos. Thanks again - Rich

Glad I finally had a chance to get round to this one...a very interesting list, yes?
As far as a Mount Rushmore of lyricists goes, I'd certainly agree with having Messrs. Simon and Dylan on there, along with a couple of my personal favourites in the shape of Warren Zevon and the Lovin' Spoonful's John Sebastian to boot...glad you enjoyed my Lovin' Spoonful Top Ten for RTTC by the way, yes...?
In the meantime, and as far as some personal favourite Simon and Garfunkel tunes go, off the top of my head and looking at the back cover of my own Simon and Garfunkel compilation, I'd suggest the following:
    i) The Only Living Boy in New York
    ii) Feelin' Groovy
    iii) I Am a Rock
    iv) Homeward Bound
    v) Old Friends/Bookends
    vi) Seven O'Clock News/Silent Night
    vii) America
    viii) The Boxer
ix) So Long Frank Lloyd Wright
    x) For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her
    xi) Kathy's Song
    xii) Feuilles-O
    xiii) Peggy-O
    Hwyl for now, yes...?

Thanks Brian. Bookends is my favorite too. It made my top 50 list. They left us with some amazing songs with their 5 album output.

Read lyrics is a good idea - I do it occasionally and usually provide lyric sheets

I've always been into lyrics. Wanted to experiment with using them as the focus in a video. Thanks for sitting through such a long video.

PS: Rich, have you heard the groovy version of 'Cecilia' by Suggs, aka the lead singer of classic UK Comedy/Ska band Madness? If not, then it's highly recommended; and you can check it out here at th-cam.com/video/73dySD8Bddk/w-d-xo.html if you like, yes...?

I just watched the link. I like the visuals on the Suggs version, but Musically I will stick with Simon and Garfunkel. Thank Evandavid!!!
