You are making a serious mistake by pretending a pet rat or mouse is the same as a wild one. The pets I have no problem with, as they are kept in check and will not put other people at risk. Wild rats, due to their intelligence, need to be kept well away from homes. I live in an old house and had mice and rats before, and I can tell you having a rat is horrible. I made the mistake of catching it alive and setting it free too close to home after it had found its way through my kitchen sink! (In fairness, I thought it was a mouse that had falling in, so I set it loose at a distance appropriate for mice, not rats. Once it had returned, it literally knew how syphons worked and would come up through whatever drain it pleased. You probably cannot imagine the stress this can cause, especially if you hear it rattle plugs and the like to try and come out. In the end, I tried to scare it off by putting aggressive cleaning agent in all my drains...except for one. The little bugger actually dove into the stuff despite my hopes of it avoiding it due to the smell it emitted, and came up through the only drain I did not 'protect', all dazed and half-dead. That was when I found him in my friggin' dishwasher. Every exterminator tells you to kill a wild rat to protect the neighborhood, and I agree that would be the best option. That said, I cannot bring myself to do it and still catch them alive and set them free in the woods near (but not TOO near) my house. I also pick a spot that is as far away from other houses as possible. I do not wish a rat invasion on others.
The fly drowned in Story 8 has classic personality disorder traits. He was, in fact, “gauging” her response. He picked her as his next mark. People need to learn these traits and recognize them.

The writer came off as someone who wanted to feel like a special child who was above their peers, and the "buff" 12 year old who does TKD who scared off a grown man with one punch? Yeah, that totally happened. I don't mind fictional stories, but the obvious unrealness just takes you out of it.

Also the police in the story behaved rather strange for a ‘safe country’, which, by the end of the story, became a place where girls literally have to carry weapons to school. LoL.
The rat story reminds me of a time when I tried to help a salamander who was stuck in the neck of a watering can. It didn't end well and I was upset for actual days over what happened. Thinking about it makes me sick too. Poor guy.

My wife is 35 and has had bad teeth since she was a teenager and im 43 and only have 1 bad tooth that i broke eating crunchy bacon lol i have never had a filling or cleaning either. My grandmother has almost all of her original teeth and shes 85 as a matter of fact all of my direct relatives have good teeth. My poor wife's parents both had dentures in their 30s. So genes are the biggest factor. Hell i was a coke head for 10 years even lol
I told my wife to buck up and get all of her teeth pulled instead of dealing with constant tooth pain. To hell with all that lol i can only imagine what a tooth ache feels like as ive never had one. The tooth that busted off has never hurt so ive been lucky so far.
I feel like there needs to be a mutual respect to all animals regardless of what they are. Anything less is just the inability to understand/have any sort of intellectual grasp beyond a brute. I honestly imagined myself getting physical to the dude messing with the fly, but I am glad the guy in the last story knew honor and respect.
