War Thunder has gotten way, way ahead of itself in implementing modern vehicles without reasonable changes to gameplay to account for the ever-improving tech.
For the Buccaneer S2B with the AJ-168, the datalink doesn't work, yet it takes a pylon. You shoud be able to launch your missile at 40km-45km and then be able to use the camera on the flying missile to choose your target. That what the datalink was for, link the airplane to the missile while in flight.
Only reason they turned it into laser not radar is because in Ground RB there would be no counter. Currently all F&F missiles in the game can be defeated by popping smoke because their are either IR or TV guided. With radar you cant. That is only reason Gajin didnt gave it full ability. Which I agree is just stupid.
That line of "reasoning" is complete BS. The game abounds with deliberately crafted situations in which there is "no counter." I'm not saying that reasoning wasn't offered up, but it is the typical Gaijin lie. Just wait and see. The capability to have ground radar ordinance will indeed come, without real counters, and it will come to RU/China before any other nation.
Yeah maybe but I think the Tungusta + others are more than a counter. I can hardly take off without been locked by AA, and they have no penalty for brodcasting their radar all over the map.
@@CptToastman Regarding the no penalty radar up time we're WAY past the point that Gaijin should have implemented shrikes/harm and its counterpart in other nations.
Probably the code did not work for land vehicles, so they went for something that do work. I noticed that the max range for most plane targeting pods is 50,000 feet. I noticed that with the A6E TRAM too.

I mean i think it would have been cool to add that. but block it from Ground battles? the problem everyone had with the idea of those missles acting as they could would be, spawn in launch x missles and turn cold. noone knows what is coming but the spaas who most dont know they can counter missles. So yea it could be added to normal air battles
Its not that the airfield defenses dont work its that people with guided air to ground wepons destroy all the defeses then come and camp. The mirage 2000 makes short work of them :) As someone who enjoys playing the 12-13 br i wouldent say its broken, its just were all the people that enjoy modern jet combat go to dogfight without every plane shooting fox3's across the map. Naturally not a very good environment to try and do ground attack in, but lots of fun in a fighter
Why deliver something if you can only bring a shell of it in? I understand it can look through smoke, which is a pain, but removing ALL fire and forget capabilities is a stupid, brain-dead move on their part, subsequently, not giving us anything new. My view of balacning em - give them fire and forget - temp, remove their ability to see through smoke - Like aamrams, delay the time that another can be launched so they arent all launched at one time - Seeker can be made its IRl backup- IR, or give it strictly radar homing.

Could have just given it an IR or TV seeker instead. Then at least it would have still been FaF.

I'm just sad Italy didn't get the upgraded Tornado with paveway IV's, JDAM's etc. Why was it only reserved to Germany and UK?
Germany got a fake mod for ASSTA3 since it didnt had a single JDAM capable aircraft while italy had the gripen and the GR4 was to shut the brits....
