    Hello Suzanne !!!
    First thing, I want to wish you and your family, Happy Valentine's day, what's left of it . You were talking about how that this pandemic has affected kids, I would like to put this out there . My 90 yrs old mom she will have been in the nursing home 2 years on this coming up March 5 around 3 weeks from now . I know personality that the pandemic has really affected my mom while that she has been in the nursing home and visitation closed down for over a year, her not being able to see me and me not being able to see her, I am the only child that she has living my older sister and brother both died from progressive muscular dystrophy, when they were younger. And the different activities that they use to have for the residents, church that they use to have and the gathering of the residents playing games and doing arts and crafts and things like that, that have been closed down now for 2 years as of March 7, 2022 . A lot of the residents just stay in there rooms all day everyday and not being able to get out and socialize with the other residents, now back in the spring of 2021 after that it warmed up I was able to go to the nursing home outside courtyard outside the activities room and they would bring my mom outside we had to both wear masks and stay so many feet apart from each other and was able to visit for 20 minutes, then a couple of days before Mother's Day my mom got sick and had to go to a local hospital and spend several days, so on Mother's Day I was able to go to the hospital and spend several hours can with her that evening and that was the first time that I had got to spend more than 20 minutes with my mom since March 7, 2020 and then after that on days that were warm my mom and other residents that were able to go outside, (just them no family stopping by to see them and be around other residents ) were let go outside for a couple of hours or so, 2 or 3 days a week and then they opened limited visitation and I was able to go ( wear a mask and a surgical like gown )to the nursing home and go inside and spend several hours at a time with my mom, but my mom has become depressed and so on over all of this .
    Anyway I am glad that you all were able to get the hay baler fixed, so that you could get your hay baled, I really like that hay buggy that you have, I have never seen one like that it's pretty neat . Lots of people don't realize that you just have a limited time during a day to bale hay you have to wait till it dries off earlier in the day and then you work, work, to get it baled towards the evening before that the sun goes down and the dew starts falling and have to quit before the hay gets to damp . The work of a farmer is never done, always something to do, especially if you have farm animals they have to be looked after everyday, even if it is just a dog or dogs or a cat or cats . We use to have several horses and mules, the last big animal was one horse that we still had and had raised him here on the farm from the day he was born and he had got up in years and died at my neighbor's farm out in the pasture field had a heart attack and died . They are just like people and they become your family .
    You seem like such a great gal, and I can tell that you are a go getter . You will soon be getting ready for the 2022 hay cutting season and back at it again, Suzanne . I will see you later in another video, so be careful and stay safe . So smile, joke around some, laugh and enjoy life a little each day and be that great special woman that you are .
    As always, Jeffrey !!!

      @This1LifeWeLive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jeffrey, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom! My Grandma was 94 when she died from quarentine in spring 2020, exactly one month after my father in law. Neither were able to get the meds they needed (mail was unreliable but local pharmacy were all closed). She lived her whole life in her house. Even during lockdown she had a friend bring her food and cook her dinner, so she was never alone. She was VERY greatful she wasn't in an assisted living home. You are so very right. It's beyond TOUGH on our older residents, as they DO have stricter rules and restrictions.
      I'm glad you were able to see her when you could!

    Well done Suzanne a mighty job on repairing the baler . Bet your not sorry that hay season is finished . Brilliant camera work an lots of voice over . One of your best videos so far .
    The container may be a cheaper option but by the time you have it converted to office space with insulation, ventilation , windows, doors , heating and electric etc it might not work out all that much cheaper than the wooden option which you can get built to your exact specification. Keep up the great work .all the best can't wait to see your next video all the best to you and your family stay well and stay safe 😀

    So good to see the baler finally working like it should after all the stress it gave you, might be worth keeping now for a few more years an just replacing a few more bits on it, give it a good clean and grease up spray the chains with some dry chain lube then if your storing it out side get a good waterproof tarp an wrap it up good an tight like a Christmas present lol, I would personally go for armish built office because unless you got a shady spot to put a container or plan on installing a/c they get roasting hot in the summer and as someone else said think about trespassers in the woods before you build a shack there.

    Most definitely place the cooking shack in a median area nearest the main tap line so if possible all the sap can come there to alleviate the laborious task of moving the sap otherwise to be cooked. A steam line storage and cooking process makes more relaxing sense to me Suzanne? I don't want to know how much that tractor cost knowing what a subcompact cost lol. I'm now looking at 100+ acre plots and thinking about what the options are. We already raise over 100 chickens. Hi, Sue! Great vid! Hey, Eric's looking thinner. Are you feeding him enough? Winter is comin.lol I would seriously consider finding a round baler that can bale your hay. Your not getting younger. That is what forced my change over. The right round baler can bale a nice tight bale that can be stacked in the barn by loader. I think the one you tried wasn't the right one for your type of hay. One with rolls instead of belts work better with grass hay. Something like the Gehl Roll-A-Bale round baler. Makes a soft core bale from grass hay. There are other mfg. that make them as well. Doin Awesome!

    Do you rake the hay on the day you bale or just the previous day?

    • @This1LifeWeLive
      @This1LifeWeLive  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I raked it a few times but also 1 hr before baling due to extra dew accumulated under the rows left overnight

    • @scottsmith6903
      @scottsmith6903 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Always rake the day you bale 1 hour before you bale may not be long enough for the bottom to dry. The day your baling rake the hay as soon as the dew comes off and you no longer can see any wet on your shoes walking thru the grass then give it several hours more to dry. Do you have a moisture tester in the tunnel on your baler or just a spear tester? 85 lb. bales is not the way to find out the hay is still to wet to bale. What was that broken pile of hay your son was playing in next to the elevator? Did that get re-baled?

    Now I'm no expert but that looks like a 640 John Deere side delivery rake that's what I use to rake and Ted all my hay on the farm and it works perfect so I think it's your rake might have a problem with it cuz I get perfect windrose

    • @This1LifeWeLive
      @This1LifeWeLive  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it is pretty mangled for sure. I tried repairing it last year but the framework is twisted badly and I don't have anything to pull it straight. First cut it does decent on, but we grow fine leafed orchard grass and a slight breeze causes it to fly with that rake. The twisting action on the wheel rake helps keep it in a tight row and prevents blow over :)

    Disengage the PTO when stopping... THE Plunger WILL screw up the bale in the chamber by hammering on it for extended periods of time.. Can also chew up the twine and make the third bale fail. Your pressure is to high because the hay making chamber is full of rust and the bale can't slide out. Pumping the bales up that tall chute make high density bales too. Some people lightly spray paint the inside of the chamber after hay season to hold back rust.

    • @This1LifeWeLive
      @This1LifeWeLive  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The inside is pretty smooth, no paint no rust, but I did find a small metal bit that could be catching. Prob need to replace inner bale chamber. And yes it's the chute causing the back pressure, and then again when the top gets too full and has to shove bales across the top of the pile ;)

    gee, ether this video is weeks old or your ome lucky gal, we had 7 days of cold rain, with day time highs of 38F and nith time lows of 26 to 37, yester day i woke up to no water in the house, yup the line under the trailer froze solid, and the rain had turn to snow. our leaves have all been down for over 3 weeks, this morning, i look out side, to see 4 inchs of fn snow on the ground, and a cold 24F , all the calve, bigger steers that go to freezer camp Nov. 23rd, and the heifer, alll balling, because they are to lazy to go out into the fall feeding field, that been growing all summer with no one on it, just for this kind of fall weather.. no i have not picked up any big round bales yet, because of 2 things, 1 if they see hay bales out side there eletric fence they will rather run the fence to get the hay, then go eat the tall grass out in the fall feeding feild, 2 my hay guy has not got his hay in from the fields yet, all his roads to his fields and 3 feet of mud, he waits until the ground freezes up a bit before he hauls it out, it is the same thing every year, the none stop fall rain.. ya they will ball there faces off for a few hours then head out to that field.. it what i go though every fall, dam cows are lazy criters.. with this saved feiled i can normally extends grazing an extra month, as long as we dont get a wet heavy big dump of icy snow, yes it has happened, one Oct, that stands out, we got 4 feet of heavy wet snow over night on the 17th of Oct, and it stayed .. it was a trip to another farm,, for small very costly square bales, i hope that dont happen this year, because my calves eat down all the waste high grass in there small field so fast, i had to go pick up 20 small squares at $8.75 a bale, to get them though until they had enough weight on, heavy grain, to condition them for the up coming long cold winter and i fixed the back fence in the fall grazing field, so now there in there with all the big guys and girls. i hear so much of usa shortages, we have not had any shortages, but all the fire wood dealers, have no birch or black ash wood stock pile like they normally do, in fact most of them dont have any. in all my years working in the bush for a big paper mill, in the camps, they didnt want more then 10% birch and black ash chips in there pulp trailer chips, because it take thousands more gallons of chemical to brake down the fibers. but since this corona crap, they want all the black ash and birch, so these fire wood places, and there are many, are luckey if they can get a truck load of tree length in a month all summer, witch only lasts them a week. witch all so has put the contract truckers out of work, because trucking to all these fire wood places is all the have ever done12 months a year, i went for a load of fire wood just a few miles from me on Friday, knowing i wouldnt have enough on hand with this weather moving in, this was to be my 4th load this fall, when i got there, he had none at all, so i drove 6 miles more to another, they had none, just pine.. i went 12 miles farther and they had none, but they had some shitty poplar for the same price. well i had no chose but to take a load of that, i am really worried because ever since my ex turned the boiler off and cut the water line under the sink. flooding and freezing up my moblie home. i dont have any other form of heating, to top this off, by Emma, my black lab got really sick, and my faarm vet gave up small anamals 3 years ago, being he so busy with large ones, i couldnt get her in to any vet, as they were not taking anyone one new, due to corona, unless it was to put down an anamal.. she died on me at 4:37pm on Sept. 23rd facebook.com/photo?fbid=10158514623126421&set=a.449802851420 she was my whole life :(

    • @This1LifeWeLive
      @This1LifeWeLive  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sorry to hear about Emma :( She looked like a sweet girl. We've had issues with vets out here too. Maybe another dog will come into your life who needs someone to show her love and care. My Grandma always swore she'd never get another dog after her dogs died, but always ended up with rejected shelter dogs no one would adopt. Her last one was rehomed 4 times by the time it was 2 and was fully blind. He lived to be 14 years old and had a great life with my grandma. I'm sure the way things are right now, that someone needs a home for their dog.
      Hopefully you'll be able to get some hay and firewood before it gets too snowy. And yes, the video was shot end of September :)
