Yeah! I missed Maki and Jeanne! I always loved to play those two in their original games, but never got to play Maki in Capcom vs SNK and that version of Street Fighter Zero 3. At least I got to play quite the bit with Jeanne in SNK Heroines. I'm a crazy SNK fan!

I think the way Snake joined Smash is worth mentioning: Hideo Kojima's son didn't like Metal Gear that much and preferred playing games like Smash Bros so Kojima requested Sakurai (who is a big friend) to put Snake in Melee, however that game was already too late into development so they had to postpone his guest appearance until Brawl. To think that the floodgates of Smash Bros 3rd party guests were opened by a father who just wanted his son to have fun with his creations even if the game wasn't MGS, Kojima is the best dad ever.

It's kinda funny how some of the firsts guest characters i've seen were very low on the iceberg like Ikuro in Jojo all star battle and The beheaded in brawlout, and the latests were on the top like Rash in killer instict and some of the guests characters in soul calibur. Great video dude :)
Actually thr ox/bull was heavily inspired Kyokushin fighter and founder Masatatsu Oyama. Oyama actually fought an actual bull when someone recorded a video that he wrestled a Bull. That's the original inspiration long before karate Champ. That's why the bull was heavily based on masatatsu oyama fought against a bull

I think that because, Onimusha Blade Warriors is set in Feudal Japan, it could be set in the same time period as Soul Calibur, and some characters from either franchise could become guests.
Some stuff I know cuz I have/had these games: In your honorable mentions you should have put Samus Aran and Ridley from Metroid in Dead or Alive Dimmensions for the 3ds. Ridley is an stage hazard in the pyrosphere stage, which is based of a metroid game and is also used as a location for a metroid stage in smash bros wii u, where Ridley is also a boss/stage hazard. Anyways, in doa dimmension you can input a special command in its pyroshpere stage to call Samus. She will drop in her armor ball form in the middle of the stage and cause an explosion that not sure if it deals much damage but it resets the position of both fighters to where they would start the match. The pyroshpere stage also festures a remix of Riddley's boss fight that may be from one of his most recent metroid appearances at the time or from smash or made for the game. Not sure. Inn street fighter alpha 3 for gba Mai from Final Fight 2 is playable. She has a few moves that Guy would go on to use in Street Fighter 4.

DOA5 of Mai, Pai and Naotora were Collab characters joined into fight. Kasugano Sakura in Justice Gakuen/Rival Schools was best Collab character. Yorha 2b and Haohmaru in Soulcalibur 6 was my fave.

So a couple things. 1. Surprised that there was no mention of Fighters Megamix with a bunch of crossovers including the LEGENDARY Hornet 41 from Daytona USA 2. Regarding Gon in Tekken 3, iirc he's banned in tournament and considered similar to Oddjob in Goldeneye. 3. Sonic and Snake were initially planned for Melee as Yuji Naka requested Sonic to Sakurai and Kojima requested Snake (as his son was a huge fan of Smash 64 iirc), but both were cut due to time constraints.
1. Fighters Megamix is literally just Sega the Crossover Fighter, so none of them count. If Megamix was explicitly marketed as Fighting Vipers vs Virtual Fighter then yes, Id count all the characters not from either of those franchises. All of the guest characters mentioned in crossovers in the iceberg are either: a) 3rd Party (i.e. all the Smash guests) or b) not part of the primary franchises that are crossing over (i.e. Mega Man in SFxT, yes he's a Capcom original, but the game is specifically and explicitly based around the Street Fighter and Tekken franchises). Calling Hornet and all those other characters guest characters in Megamix is like calling Terry, Ryo Sakazaki and Gai Tendo guest characters in KOF. 2. I initially said "tournament legality wasnt a factor in a character's inclusion in the iceberg", but then I realized this was in response to a comment I made about Tekken 3's competitive meta. 3. Neither of them are playable, so they dont count. Thats another video for another time, thus I am glad you brought this up. I'll make a note of it.
That was a really good iceberg, though I'm suprised Metal Slug's Fio in KOF Maximum Impact, Ultraman in Override: Mech City Brawl 2 wasn't in this iceberg, another mention to another guest crossover would be Godzilla in the indie crossover fighting game Gigabash, though the Godzilla crossover only happened a month ago, way after this video was made.
KOF is in essence a crossover of SNK franchises, thus why I dont count Fio. If I count Fio, then every character that did not originally make their overall debut in KOF would count (i.e. all characters from Fatal Fury, AOF, Buriki One, Savage Reign, etc. that have appeared in KOF). Makoto Mizoguchi would count though, seeing he was Data East's creation, not an SNK original. Those others you mentioned would count as well, and I appreciate the fact that you acknowledged the timing of this upload in regards to Godzilla-Gigabash crossover.
Man, two teams that could shatter my expectations of KoF XV's DLC would be Team Karnov, consisting Makoto Mizoguchi (I love the guy), Liu Yungmie (to represent Dynamite), and Karnov himself, and Team ADK, made up of Fuuma Koutarou and Kisarah Westfield (Fun fact: Fuuma's final boss is Kisarah in Aggressors of Dark Kombat) and anyone from the game Ninja Master's (I would nominate Natsume, the hard hitting blonde of the game). Pico and Salad Fingers also crossed over in another game Newgrounds Rumble, a flash Smash clone filled with Newgrounds characters, among them is Fancypants.

Just thought I'd add to the z gouki mech in cyberbots, he's only available on the home console ports, so he is not playable on the capcom fighting collection as that is the arcade version. I'd also like to say that in Tech Romancer, Blodia and Jin are actually unused and unplayable without modifying the game, in both the arcade and the console ports (at least to my knowledge, I haven't seen anything online showing how to unlock him. If you can let me know)
If Geese Howard were to be Canon in Tekken, what would that mean, will it share the same Universe as "Fatal Fury" or "King of Fighters" because both these 2 SNK Classic Franchises are separate Realities/Continuities. Edit: My Money would actually be on the KOF Universe since Tekken's World is way too ridiculously Over The Top to be sharing the same Universe as Fatal Fury because it's World is more Grounded (like similar to our Reality but with Mystical Elements).
@@joseurbina3835 Probably not, apparently Street Fighter isn't canon to Tekken despite Akuma being canon. But really, I just want to see the scene where Kazuya finally tries to take back the Mishima Zaibatsu, only to find out that all the rights to it were already bought by Geese leading to the two fighting. Or something like that. Maybe they can say that Geese was an old rival of Heihachi's? I just want to see what the Tekken devs can come up with story-wise for Geese.
@@marplatense31 Street Fighter as a whole is Canon in Tekken, this opens a big Gap of many Opportunities that we could make a lot of Fan Theories to how these Universes blend in with each other Perfectly, since we don't how SF6's Story is gonna be like (which hopefully it's Vague as possible because of how annoying the Leaks can be), they'll might return the favor of bringing in a Tekken Guest Character (hopefully it's Jin Kazama) and make it Canon the same way how Akuma did, When you think about it, "Street Fighter" has never gotten a single Guest Character from another Video Game Franchise in any Installment of the series, unless if you count Cody and Guy since they are Characters from the "Final Fight" series.
Not quite a guest character, but someone I never expected to see in a fighting game was Saya from the lovecraftian adult visual novel Saya No Uta. Kicking ass in Nitroplus Blasterz Heroines.
I actually have Saya no Uta but havent played it yet. It was recommended to me by a friend who said it was a perfect fit seeing that I love horror and visual novels.

I thought Ingrid was in Capcom Fighting All Stars: Code Holders originally (despite never being widely released) and meant to be within the wider “Capcom universe” 🙎🏽♂️ She was already grandmothered in by that (despite cancellation) and Capcom Fighting Jam itself was that team’s salvaging of the aforementioned CFAS project that Capcom wouldn’t allow to fully release due to their lack of faith in arcade fighting games after the initial failure of SF3…so yes, she counts.
The reason I didnt mention CFAS is because the game got cancelled. Some people will say she doesnt count because of said cancellation, some others thought otherwise. So thats why I threw her in honorable mentions. (Shrug)
I didn't miss one until midway through Layer 5 and only missed five by the end of 6. Was feeling pretty good about my trivia and then Layer 7 destroyed me.
Great video, however I find kind of sad that for some reason (maybe the story mode) Senran Kagura games usually aren't considered fighters while Naruto and other arena/hybrid games are, those games have some pretty cool "collabs" with other franchises
Ash Williams was replaced by the Joker in mk11. You forgot there is a Lost media/Cancelled character that you haven't mentioned. Netherrealm studios was going to add Ash Williams from the Evil Dead film but never got in. Due to the fact Bruce Campbell had no involvement to play ash in mk11 as a guest character but the multiple companies that directed Evil Dead duoligy and Army of Darkness have no permission or rights to used ash in a fighting game as a guest according to bruce campbell himself, a.k.a ash Williams. So ash was replaced by the joker for mk11.

Cool and interesting video. The only guest characters that i would like to play but never did, is Mortal Kombat 9's Kratos, Street Fighter X Tekken guest characters and Soul Calibur 2 Spawn and Heihachi Mishima. Now, let me explain what is what, so you get a context. I'am a PC player. I don't have any consoles, since Sega Mega Drive 2 that i sold not along ago after i got my very first PC. Thus, when Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) came to PC, not only it had bad performance on release, but also it didn't had all DLC characters. And you guessed it right. Kratos of all characters was missing. Sure, i understand why that is, because he was a PlayStation exclusive character, but since now God of War got released on PC, at least the 2016 game (or when it was first released?), i think that they could port that guest DLC character to MK9 also, so that players like me can enjoy playing as him. The same with Street Fighter X Tekken. All of it's guest characters was released ONLY on consoles, but not on PC. Sure, we got some of the DLC characters for PC, but they were not guests. And i wanted to play as them back in the days so bad that, i even downloaded a mods for this game, that replaces some of existing characters look, to that of those console exclusive guest DLC characters. And i got satisfyed for some time, but then again, i wanted to play as those characters later. And finally Soul Calibur 2. It was never on PC, but i played it via wii/gamecube emulator. But it didn't had some DLC characters, like Spawn and Heihachi Mishima. Only Link from Legend of Zelda, but since i'am not a fan of this character nor the series he is from, i don't care about him as much, as i would care about Spawn or Heihachi. Sure, i could get PS2 emulator and play that version of the game, but for me, PS2 emulator ALWAYS worked bad. It always had bad performance and there is nothing i could do about that. I even contacted it's developers at some point, but all they said to me is "Buy better PC" and banned me on their forum, just because i asked for help. What a weird logic lol. Thus why, i never played those two guest characters in Soul Calibur 2. Would i wanted to play as those characters now? Sure. But not as much as i wanted back in the time when i wanted to play as them so bad, that my chair started to melt under me. Also, currently i'am more in to FPS games, and thus i don't want play any other genre because i'm not in the mood for them. p.s - I thought that you gonna mention that there is a Billy Lee from Double Dragon as a guest in Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu on NES, which is also known simply as Riki Kunio game.

I haven't even heard of half of the games on this list, let alone nearly all of the characters. I guess that's because I'm not exactly a fighting game nerd, as far as arcade style fighters go the oldest one I ever played was that Mortal Kombat X DC Comics game back on the PS3 and didn't play another one till Dragon Ball FighterZ. Even then I was never really good at them, I only just learned how to do rejumps on FighterZ like last week and just got started on Jojo's ASB R.

I may be late into this but there is this obscure fighting game that had a notable character. Garouden Breakblow Fist or Twist had Yujiro Hanma from the Baki franchise playable and was considered to be the most broken character in the game. Some stuff I know cuz I have/had these games:
In your honorable mentions you should have put Samus Aran and Ridley from Metroid in Dead or Alive Dimmensions for the 3ds. Ridley is an stage hazard in the pyrosphere stage, which is based of a metroid game and is also used as a location for a metroid stage in smash bros wii u, where Ridley is also a boss/stage hazard. Anyways, in doa dimmension you can input a special command in its pyroshpere stage to call Samus. She will drop in her armor ball form in the middle of the stage and cause an explosion that not sure if it deals much damage but it resets the position of both fighters to where they would start the match. The pyroshpere stage also festures a remix of Riddley's boss fight that may be from one of his most recent metroid appearances at the time or from smash or made for the game. Not sure.
Inn street fighter alpha 3 for gba Mai from Final Fight 2 is playable. She has a few moves that Guy would go on to use in Street Fighter 4.

Wait, wait, wait Alien and Predator were in Mortal Kombat? DISNEY CHARACTERS IN A WARNER BROTHERS GAME...WTF!?
So a couple things.
1. Surprised that there was no mention of Fighters Megamix with a bunch of crossovers including the LEGENDARY Hornet 41 from Daytona USA
2. Regarding Gon in Tekken 3, iirc he's banned in tournament and considered similar to Oddjob in Goldeneye.
3. Sonic and Snake were initially planned for Melee as Yuji Naka requested Sonic to Sakurai and Kojima requested Snake (as his son was a huge fan of Smash 64 iirc), but both were cut due to time constraints.
1. Fighters Megamix is literally just Sega the Crossover Fighter, so none of them count. If Megamix was explicitly marketed as Fighting Vipers vs Virtual Fighter then yes, Id count all the characters not from either of those franchises. All of the guest characters mentioned in crossovers in the iceberg are either: a) 3rd Party (i.e. all the Smash guests) or b) not part of the primary franchises that are crossing over (i.e. Mega Man in SFxT, yes he's a Capcom original, but the game is specifically and explicitly based around the Street Fighter and Tekken franchises). Calling Hornet and all those other characters guest characters in Megamix is like calling Terry, Ryo Sakazaki and Gai Tendo guest characters in KOF.
2. I initially said "tournament legality wasnt a factor in a character's inclusion in the iceberg", but then I realized this was in response to a comment I made about Tekken 3's competitive meta.
3. Neither of them are playable, so they dont count. Thats another video for another time, thus I am glad you brought this up. I'll make a note of it.
Guest characters exist solely to increase game sales. Unless you're Sakurai, you don't go through the trouble if you don't look to make it a profit.
If we were including online MMO fighters. I would throw in Lost Saga.
It had a plethora of Guest fighters ranging from Fighting Games to Anime.
That was a really good iceberg, though I'm suprised Metal Slug's Fio in KOF Maximum Impact, Ultraman in Override: Mech City Brawl 2 wasn't in this iceberg, another mention to another guest crossover would be Godzilla in the indie crossover fighting game Gigabash, though the Godzilla crossover only happened a month ago, way after this video was made.
KOF is in essence a crossover of SNK franchises, thus why I dont count Fio. If I count Fio, then every character that did not originally make their overall debut in KOF would count (i.e. all characters from Fatal Fury, AOF, Buriki One, Savage Reign, etc. that have appeared in KOF). Makoto Mizoguchi would count though, seeing he was Data East's creation, not an SNK original.
Those others you mentioned would count as well, and I appreciate the fact that you acknowledged the timing of this upload in regards to Godzilla-Gigabash crossover.

To be fair, Punch-Out is less a boxing game and more of a puzzle game.
Man, two teams that could shatter my expectations of KoF XV's DLC would be Team Karnov, consisting Makoto Mizoguchi (I love the guy), Liu Yungmie (to represent Dynamite), and Karnov himself, and Team ADK, made up of Fuuma Koutarou and Kisarah Westfield (Fun fact: Fuuma's final boss is Kisarah in Aggressors of Dark Kombat) and anyone from the game Ninja Master's (I would nominate Natsume, the hard hitting blonde of the game).
Pico and Salad Fingers also crossed over in another game Newgrounds Rumble, a flash Smash clone filled with Newgrounds characters, among them is Fancypants.
ADK's Catalog is Absorb into the SNK Family.

Just thought I'd add to the z gouki mech in cyberbots, he's only available on the home console ports, so he is not playable on the capcom fighting collection as that is the arcade version.
I'd also like to say that in Tech Romancer, Blodia and Jin are actually unused and unplayable without modifying the game, in both the arcade and the console ports (at least to my knowledge, I haven't seen anything online showing how to unlock him. If you can let me know)

Edit: My Money would actually be on the KOF Universe since Tekken's World is way too ridiculously Over The Top to be sharing the same Universe as Fatal Fury because it's World is more Grounded (like similar to our Reality but with Mystical Elements).

But really, I just want to see the scene where Kazuya finally tries to take back the Mishima Zaibatsu, only to find out that all the rights to it were already bought by Geese leading to the two fighting. Or something like that. Maybe they can say that Geese was an old rival of Heihachi's? I just want to see what the Tekken devs can come up with story-wise for Geese.

since we don't how SF6's Story is gonna be like (which hopefully it's Vague as possible because of how annoying the Leaks can be), they'll might return the favor of bringing in a Tekken Guest Character (hopefully it's Jin Kazama) and make it Canon the same way how Akuma did,
When you think about it, "Street Fighter" has never gotten a single Guest Character from another Video Game Franchise in any Installment of the series, unless if you count Cody and Guy since they are Characters from the "Final Fight" series.

Not quite a guest character, but someone I never expected to see in a fighting game was Saya from the lovecraftian adult visual novel Saya No Uta. Kicking ass in Nitroplus Blasterz Heroines.
I actually have Saya no Uta but havent played it yet. It was recommended to me by a friend who said it was a perfect fit seeing that I love horror and visual novels.

She was already grandmothered in by that (despite cancellation) and Capcom Fighting Jam itself was that team’s salvaging of the aforementioned CFAS project that Capcom wouldn’t allow to fully release due to their lack of faith in arcade fighting games after the initial failure of SF3…so yes, she counts.
The reason I didnt mention CFAS is because the game got cancelled.

Great video, however I find kind of sad that for some reason (maybe the story mode) Senran Kagura games usually aren't considered fighters while Naruto and other arena/hybrid games are, those games have some pretty cool "collabs" with other franchises

Ash Williams was replaced by the Joker in mk11. You forgot there is a Lost media/Cancelled character that you haven't mentioned. Netherrealm studios was going to add Ash Williams from the Evil Dead film but never got in. Due to the fact Bruce Campbell had no involvement to play ash in mk11 as a guest character but the multiple companies that directed Evil Dead duoligy and Army of Darkness have no permission or rights to used ash in a fighting game as a guest according to bruce campbell himself, a.k.a ash Williams. So ash was replaced by the joker for mk11.
Someone record a video on Reddit that dlc pack 1 had a glitch that mentions ash Williams but ash wasn't in The picture. Just the joker.

Cool and interesting video. The only guest characters that i would like to play but never did, is Mortal Kombat 9's Kratos, Street Fighter X Tekken guest characters and Soul Calibur 2 Spawn and Heihachi Mishima. Now, let me explain what is what, so you get a context.
I'am a PC player. I don't have any consoles, since Sega Mega Drive 2 that i sold not along ago after i got my very first PC. Thus, when Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) came to PC, not only it had bad performance on release, but also it didn't had all DLC characters. And you guessed it right. Kratos of all characters was missing. Sure, i understand why that is, because he was a PlayStation exclusive character, but since now God of War got released on PC, at least the 2016 game (or when it was first released?), i think that they could port that guest DLC character to MK9 also, so that players like me can enjoy playing as him.
The same with Street Fighter X Tekken. All of it's guest characters was released ONLY on consoles, but not on PC. Sure, we got some of the DLC characters for PC, but they were not guests. And i wanted to play as them back in the days so bad that, i even downloaded a mods for this game, that replaces some of existing characters look, to that of those console exclusive guest DLC characters. And i got satisfyed for some time, but then again, i wanted to play as those characters later.
And finally Soul Calibur 2. It was never on PC, but i played it via wii/gamecube emulator. But it didn't had some DLC characters, like Spawn and Heihachi Mishima. Only Link from Legend of Zelda, but since i'am not a fan of this character nor the series he is from, i don't care about him as much, as i would care about Spawn or Heihachi. Sure, i could get PS2 emulator and play that version of the game, but for me, PS2 emulator ALWAYS worked bad. It always had bad performance and there is nothing i could do about that. I even contacted it's developers at some point, but all they said to me is "Buy better PC" and banned me on their forum, just because i asked for help. What a weird logic lol. Thus why, i never played those two guest characters in Soul Calibur 2.
Would i wanted to play as those characters now? Sure. But not as much as i wanted back in the time when i wanted to play as them so bad, that my chair started to melt under me. Also, currently i'am more in to FPS games, and thus i don't want play any other genre because i'm not in the mood for them.
p.s - I thought that you gonna mention that there is a Billy Lee from Double Dragon as a guest in Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu on NES, which is also known simply as Riki Kunio game.
Funny thing about SFxT's DLC is that it was all on-disc DLC, meaning technically you could play all of them even on non-Sony consoles.
Ingrid is actually one of the OCs made for the cancelled Capcom Fighting All-Star, Capcom Fighting Evolution was what the project ended up being (unfortunately) and they kept Ingrid in

I guess that's because I'm not exactly a fighting game nerd, as far as arcade style fighters go the oldest one I ever played was that Mortal Kombat X DC Comics game back on the PS3 and didn't play another one till Dragon Ball FighterZ. Even then I was never really good at them, I only just learned how to do rejumps on FighterZ like last week and just got started on Jojo's ASB R.

I may be late into this but there is this obscure fighting game that had a notable character. Garouden Breakblow Fist or Twist had Yujiro Hanma from the Baki franchise playable and was considered to be the most broken character in the game. The reason why I assume he was in the game was most likely due to the fact that the manga artist of Baki drew for the Garouden manga series at one point.
