Some additional info I’d like to add, Another reason why The Spectacular Spider-Man got cancelled was because Sony sold the TV and Merch rights to Disney! And that’s why/how the Ultimate Spider-Man TV show came into existence. Sony has the rights to Spectacular and they can distribute it however they want and make as much home video releases as they want, but they can’t produce new episodes. Which makes me wonder, why they couldn’t make a movie based on the show since Sony has the movie rights to Spider-Man? In regards to “Tron: Ares”, it was supposed to be a reboot after the 3rd film was cancelled due to Tomorrowland underperforming. Also, there was a Tron series in development for Disney+, but got cancelled for unknown reasons (at least, it’s unknown to me, because I can’t clearly remember what the reasons were exactly).
The Pokémon original ending might refer to either; the first movie originally being intended as the end, showing what appears to be Ash and Misty's daughter. Or, it could be referring to the bizarre movie concept where the Pokémon cast would struggle to defeat a real dinosaur that is unearthed and goes on a rampage. Shudo was a chronic alcoholic and on medication, so that explains a lot as to why all these endings are craaaaazy.
We were supposed to see an old Ash recollecting his memories but then it shows that the whole pokemon anime was just his imagination and then he wakes up as a little kid going on a real adventure. The woman in the trailer who looks like Misty isn't actually Misty and instead was a random woman and has nothing to do with the original ending.
This is awesome! I just wanted to point out that you left an important detail on the Hulk 2 MCU project. Universal actually owns the live action movie rights to the character, and their contract with universal expired. Basically they could use Hulk in the MCU they just couldn't make a Hulk film.
That whole "cancelling Glover 2 because they produced too many copies of Glover 1" thing is pretty strange to me. Seems like if they produced more copies than they sold, they had a lot sitting around that they could have taken back and modified into Glover 2 carts.
Another animated Lost Media was for Jeff Smith's Bone movie with Nickelodeon making the movie. This movie had some concept art which you can look online for and the reason for it being cancelled was because of some creative differences with Jeff Smith and Nickelodeon.

Cool iceberg, man. Btw, as far as Sonic SatAM goes, there’s a fan group called “Team Sea3on” who have started animating and doing voice over work for a fan project of the same name. They released a trailer on their channel and it’s pretty good. I think it follows the script for the original season 3 and the story as it was continued in the Archie comics. They’ve even remade the intro song with Johnny Gioeli of the band Crush 40 who did a bunch of the music for Sonic’s early 3D games
There was once a movie planned for the Sly Cooper franchise it released one trailer that can still be watched on TH-cam and then went radio silent until a rumor appeared that it was converted into a TV show that also never saw the light of day
1:03:22 I actually made a video on this! From what I can see the primary reason it was cancelled was that the first planned crossover was with Atlantis. Atlantis was a animated movie that was planned to have it's own spinoff show, but due to the financial failure of the movie the show was cut down to just a few episodes that were ,combined into a direct to video movie. One of the cut episodes was the Gargoyles Atlantis crossover, although it was later partially adapted into a comic. Since the first crossover never came to be and the other disney animated shows they were working on at the time had way different tones, that's probably why the universe went nowhere. I also think that there was different canon details between the Atlantis and Gargoyles universe, like the Loch Ness Monster being a robot in one show and a dinosaur in another
@@Fractorification I think Demona was active around the time Atlantis was happening, and she was the only Gargoyles character who would've made an appearance. Otherwise they'd probably just retcon it
the part with a bunch of canceled animated shows in a row hurt like hell as an animation fan, i liked 12 forever, motorcity and especially glitch techs 😢
I think "low ratings" probably means a lack of new growth. Plenty of profitable shows with stable viewers have been canceled, so the only thing I can think of is that the shows have hit their growth cap and television stockholders being the greedy bastards that they are, cancel anything that isn't guaranteed to make them MORE profit. It's really just a side effect of the American "broad appeal" business model. Success is predicated on appealing to as many people as possible, which is why good shows get worse as they try to appeal to more people and shows that don't inherently have a broad appeal don't get picked up. This is in contrast to the business model commonly used in industries like the anime industry, where they hyper fixate on a specific niche and merchandise the hell out of the like 100 people that actually watch it.
Toy sales are also a big factor in children’s media. A show could have amazing ratings but if the toys are not selling networks don’t see the show worth it, especially those of action oriented serialized shows since they are more expensive to produce and can’t re-air random episodes as often. This was what happened with young Justice when it still aired on Cartoon Network and why networks have been moving away from action-oriented shows.

Actually, the Hong Kong Phooey Film (at 57:23 mark) apparently was/might still be in development as late as 2020. Why I mention this is because I participated in a closed preview screening of the film via my laptop some two years ago during the pandemic of all thing and I was asked several questions about the film clips/stills I just watched. I think one of them was relevance of the character? And another question was the character perpetuation a racist stereotype or slang? Granted my witness testimony may be faulty, but I would probably add some more hypothesis for why the Hong Kong Phooey Film has been in development hell/cancelled/shellved because of the relevance of the charatcer and potentially his name.
@@notsyzagts7967 Valid point. ☝️ The only people who would know this character are either Parents/Adults who watched it in syndication on Cartoon Network (and on Boomerang before 2018) back in the 1990s (when they were kids). One for the very bottom: in 2008 Disney approached author Terry Pratchett to make an adaptation of his novel, Mort. It was going to be an animated musical. It was cancelled quickly because they couldn't reach an agreement over rights. Given that the original book was a book for adults about the Grim Reaper, I can only assume that if Disney did adapt it, it probably would have ended up like How to Train Your Dragon, where it's only an adaptation in the fact that some of the names line up.

One I think is interesting is Very Important House, a failed pilot pitched to Disney by Jenny Goldberg and Jhonen Vasquez in 2016. I believe the pilot itself is actually lost media so I'm surprised no one really talks about it
@@Bruh_Moment.. I have heard but I'm not as interested in seeing it anymore since this comment is 2 years old and I've kinda moved on to other hyperfixations and so I just don't really care to look into it. Thank you though
After listening to the first tier, I wrote down a bunch I could think of, though the only one from my list that was mentioned was FEZ 2. I was surprised that Amazing Spider-Man 3, Sinister 6, the Gambit movie, the Pixar film Newt, and the FOP spin-off Crash Nebula weren’t mentioned, since there were similar entries to all of those on the list. For some more obscure ones, there was an X-Men Shoujo manga that was intended to be a series but only released one issue (probably from lack of interest in X-Men being adapted into a SHOUJO of all genres, but I enjoyed it), and the planned Kuvira Backstory episode of Legend of Korra (that due to budget reasons had to be replaced by a clipshow, and was later adapted into a comic)
Act-age is another example I have of canceled media. It was truly a tragic moment for the manga readers. They say that a man really dies if forgotten, well the same thing applies to this poor manga. This greatness was both canceled and forgotten from history. Even my own memories of why was erased. I really don't wish to know what happened as I want only to remain ignorant in order for my good memories to not be tainted. Even to this day, I mourn its loss.
Amazing video man, so much research done and really entertaining! I feel like the ‘levels’ are pretty arbitrary though, like level 1 and level 10 are pretty much the same things… it doesn’t really get more interesting or obscure as levels go deeper
Forgive my rant :( 24:15 In Sam and Cat. The episode where Nora returns and kidnapped Dice, Sam and Cat go to Neville for help. In the end, it was a parody of silence of the lambs. But Gibby and his head was there and he was friends with Neville and they leave. That was suppose to be the Easter egg/cross over episode for the character Neville, Gibby, and Gibby’s head. But unfortunately Nickelodeon didn’t green lit the show which was a shitty decision :\ since every show from Danwarp had two shows aside from each other. Like Zoey101 w/ DrakeNJosh; iCarly w/ Victorious. Sam&Cat w/ (Not Gibby) but instead went ahead with Game Shakers (which had continuity with Icarly, Drake and Josh and Sam and Cat) w/ Henry Danger (which was its own show, that sucked) I know this because I’m a huge fan of Danwarp productions, comedy, and creativity from “90’s are All That” to Schneider’s down fall. Game Shakers was the last show that had continuity with Zoey 101, Drake and Josh, Icarly, Victorious, Sam & Cat.
To clarify - Bruce Timm and a few others that worked on Justice League: Worlds Collide did state that about 80% of the script for World’s Collide was used for Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths
I have a very obscure bottom of the iceberg cancelled media- Hibiki’s Magic. It was a very cute manga that only had two volumes translated and published in the US. I think that the manga story may have been completed in Japanese, but I remember that one of the reasons why it didn’t get finished in English was that the manga went on hiatus for a while.
Dude... I would love a grownup Lizzie McGuire show. I wanna see shows I grew up with as a tween in the 2000s but revamped for where we're at now age-wise. Do a premium streaming sequel series to that and whatever. Do it as a limited series, heck. Keep the surreal nature but more adult themes. Same casts and everything. That'd be amazing.
If you like lost media friend, I have a lost media thing for you. When I was about 6 to 8 there was a show on TV about dreams. It’s not the one from the discovery channel and it’s not some big huge long eight hour documentary that I found on TH-cam. I cannot remember what it’s called. I happen to cross it is a child, and it started to fascination with dreams. I have never shaken. In the video, there is a woman who survived a plane crash by refusing to get on the plane shortly after takeoff it crashed. Another woman kept dreaming of a house in the woods and something in her bed that was coming up the covers to get hurt. It was a bowl up under the blankets and she used a type of therapy where people that have nightmares or dreams that just really bother them write them down and then create alternate endings to the dreams. Another one, a man died in a motorcycle accident, and the woman who received his heart dreamed that she walked up to him in a field and kissed him, and when she did, so, she literally breathed the man inside of herself. Later, she was able to meet the donors family. Another one, that I didn’t catch the beginning of was something about headless World War II general. I’ve never been able to find this. I have scoured the Internet I’ve left messages everywhere I can think because it’s something that I saw and it started a lifelong interest. I thought it might’ve been on the Syfy channel back when they still had documentaries in the early 90s. Now I am not sure because I have not been able to find it. I still remember the lady had a red shirt and black pants, and she was kind of overweight, the one that had the heart transplant, the lady who did the dream alternate ending therapy thing had white hair, but I don’t remember anything about what she looked like other than that, and that the bed that she was in had a very colorful quilt on top. And that’s really all I can remember other than the basic storylines. those are the three that I can remember out of all of it so if you know anyone or anybody that might even have an inkling what this was please please leave a comment. This is driving me nuts since I was a child literally because when discovery came out with a documentary, I thought it was gonna be a repeat, and I could watch it again, and I never got the chance. The repeat happened in I want to say 94, 95-ish.

Another reason why The Spectacular Spider-Man got cancelled was because Sony sold the TV and Merch rights to Disney!
Hopefully Sony can add the Spectacular Spider-Man to the SpiderVerse movies as cameo or something.

Takeshi Shudo created Minky Momo and many others.
Right????
They probably just didn’t want to bother lol

I will never understand cancelling finished projects, all that time and work poured into a work of art, only for it to go to waste
Another animated Lost Media was for Jeff Smith's Bone movie with Nickelodeon making the movie. This movie had some concept art which you can look online for and the reason for it being cancelled was because of some creative differences with Jeff Smith and Nickelodeon.

Speaking of Gargoyles and Kingdom Hearts, the characters from the show were meant to have an appearance in Kingdom Hearts, but even the creator of the show doesn't know what happened.
Hurts to see spectacular Spider-Man being cancelled just because Disney wanted to revamp to the mcu. Ironman AA and emh suffered the same fate
Wait the CGI show was affected because of that?😶

Cool iceberg, man. Btw, as far as Sonic SatAM goes, there’s a fan group called “Team Sea3on” who have started animating and doing voice over work for a fan project of the same name. They released a trailer on their channel and it’s pretty good. I think it follows the script for the original season 3 and the story as it was continued in the Archie comics. They’ve even remade the intro song with Johnny Gioeli of the band Crush 40 who did a bunch of the music for Sonic’s early 3D games
nice pfp
Just a mere mention of Spectacular Spider-Man season 3 brings a tear to my eye
Don't you DARE diss ALF. That show is a treasure
I also think that there was different canon details between the Atlantis and Gargoyles universe, like the Loch Ness Monster being a robot in one show and a dinosaur in another
But, how would that have worked when both Gargoyles and Atlantis took place in different time periods?
@@Fractorification I think Demona was active around the time Atlantis was happening, and she was the only Gargoyles character who would've made an appearance. Otherwise they'd probably just retcon it
I didn't even know Nimona was going to have an adaptation in the first place! Glad it got picked up again, because it's one of my favorite comics

the part with a bunch of canceled animated shows in a row hurt like hell as an animation fan, i liked 12 forever, motorcity and especially glitch techs 😢
I really want to know what counts as "Low Ratings" seems too happen to much for good media.
@@pennyforyourthots I know animated shows have to heavily rely on merchandise sales to make up for production costs too
Low ratings basically means that not many people checked it out
Low viewership is a big part of it
Toy sales are also a big factor in children’s media.
Damn this iceberg hurt knowing what could have been and what we could have had
Awesome video 🔥🔥🔥
44:58 My worst heartbreak in the past few years 😭 as a lifelong lover of the movie, finally getting that show was like a dream to me (and countless others) and then Netflix had to ruin it for us by not continuing after ending it on a cliffhanger!

The relevance is the problem. Not enough fans to justify that type of niche character. I wouldn't count on it.
@@notsyzagts7967 Valid point. ☝️
The only people who would know this character are either Parents/Adults who watched it in syndication on Cartoon Network (and on Boomerang before 2018) back in the 1990s (when they were kids). The other interested party would know the character would be the grand parents/older adults (aka the boomers) who watched the show on TV.
Cancelled Spider-Man media gotta be one of my favorite genres
One for the very bottom: in 2008 Disney approached author Terry Pratchett to make an adaptation of his novel, Mort. It was going to be an animated musical. It was cancelled quickly because they couldn't reach an agreement over rights.
Given that the original book was a book for adults about the Grim Reaper, I can only assume that if Disney did adapt it, it probably would have ended up like How to Train Your Dragon, where it's only an adaptation in the fact that some of the names line up.
1:25:45 sounds a lot like the synopsis for the Pokemon Orange Islands episode "Pikachu Re-Volts" where the Pokemon are being hypnotized by Butch & Cassidy's Drowzee to revolt against their trainers. It was one of my favorite Pokemon episodes as a kid
1:05:00 12 Forever probably will never come back, considering _why_ that show was cancelled...

7:44 here from the future. nimona is an incredible movie.
Seeing Nimona on this iceberg is neat. Never knew it had the history it did.
For A minute I thought this was an iceberg covering canceled celebrities.
Even to this day, I mourn its loss.
it was canceled because the creator is a pedophile
@@jjrodriguez3241 What did I say about wanting to remain ignorant?
Shantae 2: Risky Revolution just got announced in the November 15th Nintendo Indie Showcase so it's officially no longer cancelled.
Amazing video man, so much research done and really entertaining! I feel like the ‘levels’ are pretty arbitrary though, like level 1 and level 10 are pretty much the same things… it doesn’t really get more interesting or obscure as levels go deeper

Forgive my rant :(
24:15 In Sam and Cat.
Sam&Cat w/ (Not Gibby) but instead went ahead with Game Shakers (which had continuity with Icarly, Drake and Josh and Sam and Cat) w/ Henry Danger (which was its own show, that sucked)
I know this because I’m a huge fan of Danwarp productions, comedy, and creativity from “90’s are All That” to Schneider’s down fall.
The Muppets are Disney’s red headed stepchild that they lock up in an attic and trot out only on special occasions.

Gee I wonder why viewership was plummeting. Could it be because they were broadcasting the episodes out of order? Who made that decision?

The closest thing to a Lizzie McGuire continuation we got is How I Met Your Father. Also, have you seen Raven’s Home?
Kinda similar to the icarly reboot?
I'm still *so* glad the nimona movie got saved, I've loved the comic since i was like 15 and was so sad when it got cancelled the first time
