DID I PICK THE WRONG HANDLEBARS FOR MY STREETGLIDE SPECIAL?

- A topic alot of us Harley riders discuss and one of the early modification for that aggressive look. Some of us need it for comfort and here is how I made my choice. Enjoy!!!

Great advise, never heard this before. Seat first, bars after. Good to know.
Good info on bars. I am 5'7" so this really helps me.
Man your energy and content is amazing. Thank you for giving us such amazing videos to watch to help with our purchase and fuel our hobby
You really do a great job explaining things and you voice is very easy to understand.
Great information
Real talk Bro. Good video. 👍
Nice Scoot! Good info for people looking into the market for new bars!
Thanks for the information
I was looking to put 10 in bars on my 2020 glide , now I’m going to 12 in because I also like the sleek look of the factory mirrors.
Thanks again for the video.
Adjust your bars back an inch or so. That should dial it right in for you
I just did KST patriot baggers on my 19 SGS. Absolutely love them, night and day difference in comfort and handling. Thanks for the video
For the price it's extremely hard to beat KST bars. Especially the Vanguard series being a uniquely adjustable bar is slick.
You are a trusted reliable source of information. I like the way you clearly explain what’s going on and I like style. Thanks!
Had the same problem when I bought by Kraus seat.
I have the same bars as you. I just rotated them down and they are fine.
Thank you Thank you!! I am looking for some new bars and right height for them. Your video made better sense and look that I am going for.
Just added you so I’ll be watching more to come. Thanks Brah.
Try adjusting the bars back towards you just a bit...that will lower them as well. I'm 5'11", ride a RG and went with 14" KST adjustable Renegades. Very happy with them even when I change out my seats from a solo to a more padded 2-up seat for a passenger. Great video and info, thanks for sharing.
Seat before bars & windshield!!! It impacts both. But so many people rush to the bars 1st.
Good advice. I’m 6’4” and have 12” LA Chopper bars. They’re perfect for me.
What’s up. Thanks for the video! This is exactly my dilemma. I want to change my handlebars but I don’t want them above the fairing and I don’t want to move my mirrors because I like the look of them where they are.
Just subscribed. 👍🏾
🍻
That video helped me so much!!!! Thx from Germany!!!!
Great info, all you were missing was a walk around to see the Handle bars and maybe sit on the bike to show case the handle bars a little more in depth.
Thanks for the info 👍 thinking about changing my bars, im new to HD & trying to figure it out. I'm 6ft 2in with a street glide & have no clue about what I'm doing. 😂
Thanks a lot, Bro. Best regards to You.
🍻
I am all for bike modifications. But the handlebars are something I do not mess with. The stock handle bars are not the most pleasant to look at, but they are the most versatile and ride-able for most people and configurations. I am 5'7" and I can do almost sport style touring with the stock bars(I also own a Kawasaki Concours 14). Not to mention how many people I have seen have trouble with their clutch and throttle after a handlebar upgrade.
When people ask me about changing the bars, I discourage it unless they are unusually tall or short. There are just too many other useful things you can do to the bike that will add comfort like the stereo, seat, cup holders, lowers, etc..... Handlebars on a Harley are as bad as pipes. I think most people change things out of peer pressure more than function. I have seen some cool things done to H-Ds. But I ride my bikes 30K+ miles a year. If cool has a negative effect on function, I will not do it. No matter how good it looks/sounds.
Good Video!!! I ride a 2020 FLTRX Road Glide.
Understandable and to each his own🍻
OMG. This make so much sense. Upgrading my seat is an item that I plan to do however, after watching your video I am going to do that first and then get fitted for the bar upgrade.
I’m with you on this! Don’t want anything too tall. I do about 5-6 weekend trips per year where I’m on the bike for 8-10 hrs at a time, want to make sure I’m comfortable. Almost went with 10” bars but I ordered 12 bars for my RGS..... and have yet to install them.... I think I’ll be fine with them....thanks for the outlook on this.
🍻
Like your channel, good information. Just got back on a 2023 SG after spending a few years on a Triumph Tiger. Before that i had a Victory Cross Country. The Triumph was a blast but i really missed the comfort and styling of a Bagger. Enjoy your approach, and thats a gorgeous bike!
I changed my stock pipes with shark road 4-1/2” slips ons, awesome low rumble, 12” apes, heated grips and air grips for more comfort. Went with a 6” windscreen, and removed the heel shifter🤮so i put in a nice chrome spacer. ✌🏼
I got 16” Cordovas on my street glide. I rode a homie’s bike with them and fell in love.
Them Cordovas look mean and comfortable seems like that's all they ride with out in Cali 🍻
@@officialmac they’re very comfortable, sometimes too comfortable lol.
Awesome advise I have an Ultra Low, seat is lower then ultra so 10" is what i just ordered almost went with 12 but i thought it would be to high and you confirmed that for me thanks.
thanks man, great informative video...just bought 2023 SG ST and about to change the bars, everyone is saying go for 14" but I'm thinking 12"...just ordered the saddlemen solo dominator seat, so I guess I'll put the seat on first to see how much it drops me.
If people would just stop and think for awhile about what they really need and what type of riding they actually do they wouldn’t make mistakes on what they buy...I spent several months thinking about bars for my RGS, changed my mind several times during those months.....
Who is gonna tell you what bars to run on your bike by telling them what type of riding you’re doing? Most streetglides have the same bars but maybe all the guys ride the same? It’s not the ride type is the position you want to be in
Great advice, always make sure the handlebars are the last thing to buy after the seat and foot controls, everything affects the rider triangle.
Experience prevails🍻
Thank you for that information,I currently have a 2015 RK police that I want to make my own,and your video definitely helped me a lot..thanks again!!
Very nice bike. Gd video. I have 2020 RKS same color to with 19" 1 1/2 LA bars I change my seat first. I originally order 16" they where to short. I had to Reorder bars.
Nice bike!!!🍻
I dig the info, coming from someone who has built a couple of bikes now and i'm fairly new to The bike game. I like that you do you HOMEWORK!!!!!,
🍻
Great perspective! A different seat will definitely change things!
🍻
Same deal just brought 2016 street glide loving it.
Great video.
Do you and have all the fun in the Universe. Ride safe!
Thanks!!🍻
Very knowledgeable, thanks I subscribed
🍻
Great advice man, I got my saddlemen seat first and it really changed the ride height, so I’ll bear that in mind for my bars style!
Thanks and subbed 🤘
🍻
Looking good man love the bars.
Thanks🍻
My bike is the same color. I love it, especially now I got it ceramic coated. In the sunlight it pops
I'm planning to ceramic coat mine too I just want to finish a few more things on her and she will be ready!!!🍻
I'm thinking about the yaffee bars, prob. 10 inch. I'm 5'7. But, maybe I should get a seat first! Thx for the vid.
Thanks for sharing this video I have been on the fence on what sizes bars I want 12inch or 14s I also like the yaffees . My brother-in-law and I road few exits on the highway just to ride and get out for fresh air. Man I had to tell him about your music I ride a 2017 street glide special. Again thanks for sharing.
Thanks I appreciate that 🍻
I got 12 inch Kst Kustoms .. 1.5 thickness
I love it and with hammock seat from harley.. im 5'8 and its.super lever with my shoulders.. I got the bike 1 year and 3 months I got 20k miles.. I personally don't like the bars going above the fairing .. just doesn't look right. For that u get a roadglide.. and u gotta look at the camera of your phone bc ur eyes are looking the other way all the time.. prob looking at ur self lol..
Good deal sounds like you have a great setup to get your miles in 🍻
@@officialmac yup.. thanks..
Great video! I went with the 10" Yaffee. 6'0 tall and they are perfect for me.
I hear that🍻
Does the 10s block the stock mirrors like this gentleman says
14”factory 46’s looks sick. Ride good too RSMF
Beautiful machine Brother.
🍻
If you still have your stock seat you can have it customized to you. Google a company called Mean City Cycles.
Look up Handlebar Lee on TH-cam. He makes the "cordova" pull back bars. I have the 20inch. Look at them on my channel
Hey looking for bars myself ... Good info thanks....
🍻
Vindikta Hootze best bars every ... check them out had them on my st glide and now on my road glide superior customer service he even tweeked my RD glide 16” cause I’m so short 5’5” they are super comfy and I can be more agrees and ride in the saddle alllll day long with out my shoulders or arms killing me
Great videos
🍻
Great advise
i have 14 inch yaffi bars and they feel great i am 6 4 inches tall.
Yup, I thought you would say Yaffy, great stuff bro
🍻
No sir absolutely not. I have the same ones, that’s a great style.
Where you get that back rest for the CVO set
Good information my man ..just purchased a 2021 Road Glide Special . Guess I’m gonna purchase a new seat before changing the bars. Thanks for the info ! Which style bars are those from Yaffe?
To my suprise the 14 inch Apes were perfect for me. I wanted 10 or 12 inch and thought the longer bars were for cosmetic looks but the shorter is for taller people with longer wing span. The 14 can adjust further back giving u more flexibility. It actually helped improved my u turns and tight maneuvers and comfortable no shoulder tension on long rides. Its all preference. But your SG is 🔥🔥🔥
Do you ride with a back rest?
I do sometimes. Depends how far im riding and how my old azz back feeling.LOL!!!
Same🍻
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿🎯🎯🎯💯💯💯😎😎😎
Thanks for sharing.
Where did you get those box protectors?
I’m 5’11 think I’m going with 12 apes an is that a custom or factory seat
I have 13 apes on my 2017 ultra classic my first Harley ,I had a 2007 1st gen black hayabusa, miss my Brock short Meg sound but I have a 2 into 1 Bassani full exhaust, love Harley but miss the Busa I subscribed Busa Riders stick together had my Ebony for 10yrs lots of memories.I have Elvira now. She looks wicked too much will kill the look. I met riders with EBay bikes too much accessories kills the look
great video, you got a new subscriber!
🍻
Well done
👍🏻
I got kst 12 inch they are good to me
I've heard good things about the last bars🍻
Yeah bruh, won’t take long to adjust them.
How do you like the pull back style bars.. most people in the Westcoast got em...
They look good I just feel more in control with the bars out away from me
@@officialmac yea I think yours right... they jus look so good... definitely something to get use too.... ima go with em tho... 👍🏾💯👍🏾💯👍🏾💯16’s triple og bars
I’m 5’9 so this is good for me. But, I wanted to know if change out my stock seat would it probably be best to get the new seat before the new bars?
Only if your getting a low cut seat imo
@@officialmac Where did you get your backrest from?
Link in description
@@officialmac I appreciate man. I am finally fixing to get my street glide. Didn’t think it would ever happen at 24 years old. Ride safe out brotha
What bushings?
Hmmm I’m about to put 14” on my street glide, I’m 5’7 but now I’m wondering if I should put 12” you pointed out a lot of good stuff that I also had in the back of my mind, I don’t want the bar to high that I’m reaching, specially when I’m turning but I don’t want them to low neither! I began with 16” and I said ok I’m to short for those so after weeks of research I was like ok 14” but now I don’t know if I should go with 12” any advice anybody.. thanks! Ride safe everybody! Happy New Years and many blessing!
Thx for watching and subscribing... I'm not a expert by any means but I'm guessing we are around the same height and you have the factory seat.. then the 12s will fit you pretty good just make sure the installer fits you in your riding position... The pull back on the bars is what was important for me. Just my 2¢🍻
I'm 5 10 I have factory seat and 14" yaffes all guys I know with 12" sit on my bike and wish they went 14" just a suggestion
🍻
My next project...I like your set up for all the same reasons.( Literally and figuratively) My only question is....can I use my stock brakes and clutch cables? Reason being... I've searched for videos for my 2021 street glide special with no luck! Plus it could possibly save me a hundred dollars by using the stock cables. Any help will be appreciated.
Yes
Cheeee thanks brother
Oh yeah have you heard of Dominator Cycles. Not a name brand company however, they say that they use the same people to cut, build and paint as companies like LA choppers, Carlini and other top names in the game. They pretty darn cheap!
how did you decide on the seat?
I chose that seat more on looks than comfort... I also needed a low cut seat so that I would be more stable when I stopped... But if I had to do it again I'd choose comfort first 👍🏾
Adjust the pull back on them and you’ll be fine
You are absolutely correct 🍻
TRU!!!
Do you still have your hayabusa to
Nooo but I have something else in hiding now!!!
That's what's up like to see brothers doing big things .keep video's coming
P.S put led light strips on the bike if you like the party look besides instead of buyin a lot of expensive lights from dynamic customs you will light up your ride . Keep them 2 on the pavement ride safe mi brother.
Got over 15,000 on my 2020 Street Glide Special and love it. Might try the 12” bars. I’m 6’ 2”
You'll hate 12s man. Listen I'm an Inch taller than you. I had 14s on my SG and wished I went 16"! I ride a RG now and I'm about to put 20s on her.
take it back to the mechanic and have him pull the bars back just a tad, and you should be better
Nice video..sub'd
