    My 14" bars saved me from giving up riding. If my hands aren't at least shoulder height I can't ride more than 100 miles. I don't know why that is but it makes me wonder how riders have called it quits because of the stabbing pain of riding with stock bars. Watching your videos you've touch on the benefits and it's 100% accurate!

      That’s nice I heard if it’s to low it makes your shoulders hurt. To high and you start losing circulation

    This video has solved such a dilemma for me. I haven't been able to decide what inches to get based on how it looks installed with someone actually sitting on the bike. Think I'm going to go with 13 or 14 inches. Thanks!

    In the 1960s, I ran Flanders ape hangers which were approximately 14" high. Those bars were just above shoulder height with me on the seat. I was pulled over by cops more times than I could count. Eventually, I switched to a lower handlebar.

    • @jayreezy6733

      Cops don't pull folks over for ape hangar height much anymore...at least, not in the 25yrs that I've been riding, I've never heard anyone complain of it...as long as they aren't 20 or more where it's crazy, I doubt any1 would have police problem with tall bars

    I owned a 1973 Honda 750 four with King Queen seat and 15” ape bars. It was semi-chopped and the control you had over the bike with these bars was just great!! I had a few panic stops because of other vehicles that stopped purposely in front of me, or turned broadside in front of me, and these 15”ape bars allowed me to have control even when because of no ABS the rear wheel was at almost 90 degree angle and I was still able to come out of it and stabilize.

    At 5-10 I have a lower profile Saddleman 2-up seat on my Softail Deluxe. With 16" HD Apes they appear more like 18" because of the lower seat height. I could not be happier with how comfortable they are compared to stock handlebars! To each their own, but it's been my experience that when people who talk poorly about Apes actually try them they are amazed at how much more comfortable they are than stock bars.

    I have 2019 RG Special. I'm 6'1 and 16's are perfect for me while using a lepera streaker solo seat. Alot less cushion on the seat and i sit further back than i would with that crappy stock seat. I also use the lepera maverick 2up daddy long legs for when my ol lady comes with. Great seats for taller guys. You must take into consideration what kind of seat you have as to how high you go with your bars. I wouldn't want 18's on my bike with the style of seats im using.

    Thx for making my decision harder bro. I want them all. I’m trying decide between 14” or 18”. I have a 2019 street glide. The both look awesome. I had 14” on 09 night train. They were so comfortable. I could ride for hours. I have stock bars right now and my back starts hurting after 1 hour of riding. I would love to know is putting apes on 2019 street glides is something I should attempt by myself. I’m retired army medic that was assigned 1st cav. So I have worked a lot on tanks, track vehicles and strikers. I know not the same. My point is I’m not mechanically challenged.

    • @mikepsly73
      @mikepsly73 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a 2019 road glide and if could show you pictures I would. Your 2019 is still under warranty man. Thats a big decision. It depends on what bars you get. Some bars are difficult as he'll..some are super ez.
      Look up Fat Baggers Inc. Online. I got the FBI 16" EZ install bars. You dont even need to buy new cables for your bike. They send extensions for your existing cables in the package. Now im not mechanically inclined enough to put them on...but Grizzly HD was able to get those bars on and a TAB Zombie exhaust stage 1 kit installed in one day. Normally bars take a day themselves for a mechanic.

    • @mikepsly73
      @mikepsly73 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have 1.25" and 1.5" bars from 12"-16" for 2019 I believe. 1.25" they might have higher. But I didnt dictate the height of my bars as so they don't come over the fairing like most dudes. I went with 16's because I want whats best for the ride.

I like mine as tho I am resting them on a table, this also allow for most movement when handling the bike, too high and my fingers start to tingle and between my shoulders start to fatigue. even with all this I am looking for slightly higher on my road glide but only 2-4 inches at max. also some people can get thinner seats or a seat lowering kit which will also change the arm position.

    Is there a reason why the bars are always mounted in what looks like a straight up position? Is there a problem with having them pulled back so you can relax against the back rest? I use to own a Dyna Wide Glide with factory ape hangers, forward controls, and King and Queen seat. I considered that the most comfortable bike I’ve owned. I just bought a 2017 CVO Limited, and the riding position with the Factory 10” bars is uncomfortable. I can’t even get support from the back rest because I’m hunched over. I’m thinking 12” or possibly 14”. I just want to be able to do long pain free rides again like I could easily do on my Dyna.

    I'm short, 5'7, so I think anything from 10-12 inch would be pretty good for me. Thanks for the vid.

      Go sit in a stick Road King (any HD dealership). Those will have 10 inch bars. You might want to grab some 12’s. But that will give you a decent idea

      I'm the same height. I have 14's on my Softail Standard. My hands are just above my shoulders and it feels fine. My bike came with 10" mini-apes, the 14's look way better, and straightens your back out a bit.

      @@cwheremonster8870don‘t they have 8 inch mini apes? I‘m also 5'7 and want to have the bars a bit more back towards me. But if I turn the stock bars towards me, they‘ll also get lower a bit.

    Hi, I'm 1,80cm . What do you recommend on a 2006 Fatboy? With the originals I'm always curved and my back hurts. They recommended 10 inch so I don't have to change the cables
