Before learning from ur easy lessons I new nothing about the sudoku puzzles, I want to thank u for creating in me interest in solving the puzzles. There are some points which I am unable to understand. Please let me know, why did u choose 9 here when there are other numbers like 4 and 5 in the first block of lesson no 69 ?

Thanks for the video, it is great to see someone explaining sudoku using "pen and paper" rather than just the computer, though that is what I tend to use myself ;-) Spotting the x-wing was much easier on a computer when all the numbers are highlighted for you, this also led me to a swordfish which you didn't need though it may have made it easier. I am looking forward to you covering empty rectangles which is a technique that always seems to confuse me and your explanations always help. Keep up the great work!

Between 8 and 9 minutes, that 69 in the southwest block has some interesting chaining possibilities. A 6 there would put a 6 in r1c2 which would then put a 26 pair in the north block--AND: it would put a 6 in the bottom of the southeast block, which would put a 6 in the middle row the south block, BUT the 26 pair up north would force the 6 into r7c5 (It's important to use the language of possibilities here--we're thinking ahead like we would in a chess game, not guessing). Now then, r7c5=6 would quickly give us r4c5=3, r6c5=4, r5c1=4, and the trail goes cold there. So we back up to the last possibility and try to form another branch from there. r6c5=4 doesn't seem to do anything helpful, but r4c5=3 would: it would yield r6c1=3 due to r5c1=4. There's more, but you get the point. What we're trying to do is to get from that 69 at r7c1, to find out what a 6 there would yield in r7c3. If it yields a 4, than you can enter a 4 there, because a 9 at r7c1 would also yield a 4 in r7c3. If it gives a 9 there, then you can eliminate the 9 in r7c9 because c1 and c3 would then be the only possibilities for a 9 in that row. And THAT would force a 9 in the bottom row of the SW block, which would give you a 9 in r8c6.
Those three-cell areas you look for after the initial search are a great place to start chaining.

3:56 There is a 6 in (row 6, col 3), which sees the entire col 3.That only leaves 2 cells available for 6s in the block corresponding to cells (row 7, col 1) and (row 8, col 2). So, we mark some small 6s there.

15:04 the nines basically make a cleaver pattern so therefore that's another way of seeing we could get rid of that nine in the top right-hand corner

I'm a huge fan of Snyder notation. So, I have a small (but tricky) question: could this puzzle be solved using only the Snyder notation (and other techniques) from beginning to end, so avoiding the technique of filling the "cells with all their small numbers" as you did in the movie at time 9:00? Thanks for your reply, Robin.
Not this one ...that's why I chose it. Yes there are some you can do just by Snyder notation but when it comes to diabolical and very hard puzzles I find all possible numbers is the next step after looking at 3 empty cells and 4 empty cells.and advanced patterns.
Sometimes there are many numbers up, but there is hardly any interference!

To me it's cheating to have the computer fill in all the possible numbers... part of the challenge, to me, is to correctly fill them all in.
Placing the 9 in A7 could be more easily explained as just a "naked single".
Thanks for your fine explanations throughout the series. I'd like to see a really hard one solved requiring one or more: y-wings, xyz-wings, hidden unique rectangles, swordfish, x-chains, xy-chains, etc. Frank Longo's excellent books "Absolutely Nasty Sudokus" (Level 3 or 4) require all of these. And they have large, spiral-bound pages! Sometimes I spend a couple hours (over a few days) looking for a solution to a bottleneck. Sure is fun when you find it!

After eliminations of 9 by Xwing, column 7 has only a single 9 pertaining to the cell A7. So, that will be the real 9 for this cell. Similarly, 7 will be the real 7 for column 2 at A2, A,B, etc being the Rows.

I completed the puzzle before watching and I am now more confused than ever. I found an x wing using 9s C-4 and 9, rows 6 & 9 but when the puzzle was done it looks like it was supposed to be column 8 instead of 9. I feel like i got lucky actually. 🙃 I of course watch all the videos in completion when i do a puzzle. I am sure it will help me understand better. Where do i look for information on private lessons? Do you still do them?

Hey Mr. Robin, in your example after the x-wing i have not seen your elemination of the 9 and i also cant find anything else. is there a way that i may use another x-wing? or same question, can i use two x-wings to eliminat locked little numbers? i cant finish my sudoku from my grandma, it must be for experts and i watched most of your lessions. i would love to send you this one to finish it :D:D Liebe Grüße aus germany :D
