FF15… the game that needed a ton of DLC, short videos, an anime, a movie, a later complete overhaul expansion, AND novels to tell the full story… ya totally unscathed..
What I think happened with Dread was when Mercury Steam did so well on Metroid: Samus Returns, Nintendo went to them and said. “We have been trying to get this game made for over a decade. You did great with the Samus returns remake, here’s the basic idea, off you go. And Mercury Steam did it with aplom!
The biggest tragedy with Skull & Bones was that it likely didn’t need to be in development hell. If Ubisoft just made a straightforward open-world pirate RPG and didn’t try to force in live service crap, it would’ve released a lot sooner.
I'm so glad Metroid Dread and Doom made it through - rly amazing games, especially Dread which singlehandedly got me into 2D sidescrollers and metroidvanias
Granblue Fantasy Relink also escaped development hell. It was presented back in 2016 with an initial release date to 2018. Cygames was working along Platinum Games but Platinum left the project, the game changed direction and they still keeping working on it until it was release back in February 2024.
For me it definitely it has to be 'The Last Guardian'. I know it's not as big a hitter as Shadow of the Colossus or Ico but to me it still hit all the right spots. Love that game!
PRAISE METROID DREAD FOR SAVING THE METROID FRANCHISE FROM THE DISASTER OF OTHER M, FED FORCE, & THE DIVISIVENESS OF METROID 2 REMAKES OF THE FAN COMMUNITY & NINTENDO(That official company should've just cancelled the development of Fed Force just so that they should focus more on Samus Returns & letting the fan community know that the official remake has existed)! FUCK DUKE NUKEM FOREVER! FUCK FF15! FUCK MOTHER 3'S ENDING!
Considering how good both Doom and Metroid Dread both turned out to be, I'm super glad they both eventually released and maybe their development hell had to do something with their final top notch quality! Too bad I can't say the same for Duke Nukem Forever or Final Fantasy XV.
For Dread what wound up happening was Mercury Steam made a fantastic Metroid 2 remake for the 3DS. When the game did well, Nintendo told them what they wanted from Dread and how they had been trying to get it made for over a decade. Mercury Steam said, “don’t worry, we got this!” And ran with it.
0:12 Never liked that game. Never any good at it, either. That seems to be the case with a lot of development hell titles. I remember Honest Trailer joking that Skull and Bones is never coming out even though a release date was mentioned shortly after that. I knew this game was going to suck after it got constantly delayed. Duke Nukem Forever took forever to come out and it sucks forever. 2:35 Old 👴... A Kirby game was in development hell? Multiplayer was too difficult to program? Didn't they make Smash Bros? Metroid Dread was in development hell? I thought it was put on hold due to technical limitations. I never heard of Dread until it was announced for the Switch. Which games are you glad made it through development hell? Metroid Dread.
Let's hope Inazuma Eleven Victory Road will finally end it's development hell too. That game was starting development back in freaking 2016. Two anime seasons, five MOD games and three shitty mobile spin-off later, we are still waiting for it's return. The wasted Level-5 titles like Megaton Musashi and Yokai Watch is the reason why IEVR is in development hell in years. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Unfortunately that's not the true final fantasy series games from 13 on I called it the new final fantasy series because it was nothing like the original final fantasy was and still is at least to me anyway😔🙏
I'm not a big fan of Metroid games, I've only played Super Metroid on Super Nintendo Classic Mini and Metroid Prime Remastered on Nintendo Switch (what is 1 of the most greatest Nintendo Switch games of all time what's strange i'm not that big Metroid fan how much I like Metroid Prime Remastered, the biggest reason is, because i'm a big Space game fans and I really like Samus, she's 1 of the most beautiful and powerful video game character of all time.) When Metroid Dread was relased over 2 years ago in 2021 I wasn't interested of it, bevause it looks too hard game where you have to visit in every same areas many times and i'm not a fan of Rogue-like games, but after over 2 years ago and played Metroid Prime Remastered i'm even more interested and excited for Metroid Dread what escaped Development Hell. 🌌🚀👩🏼🚀🪐🌑👽👾🌠
did you like Super Metroid? Because Dread is akin to that, cause in "classic" metroid (all metroid, really), you do have to backtrack as you gain abilities. Not sure why you'd call out dread for it, when it's an element to all metroids, primes included.
@@thecunninlynguist I like Super Metroid, but it's a very hard game for me. Only 2D Metroid game what i'm interested of the most is Metroid Samus Return on Nintendo 3DS.
If you thought you wouldn't like Dread because you thought it looked too hard, you made the right choice! While I liked it a lot, it was absolutely brutal, especially the bosses!

How about next list be “Games we are hoping will escape development Hell”?
also pikmin 4 which took way to long from 2015 to 2023, which was 8 years,
I’m sure that minus Skull & Bones & Duke Nukem Forever, this would’ve been titled Top 10 Video Games that escaped Development Hell UNSCATHED
FF15… the game that needed a ton of DLC, short videos, an anime, a movie, a later complete overhaul expansion, AND novels to tell the full story… ya totally unscathed..

I don't think skull and bones escaped development hell so much as it was thrown out of it
True
And Metroid Dread is one of best Metroid games now but Metroid Zero Mission is still my favourite
Metroid dread is fun, but some of the gameplay is wild.
The biggest tragedy with Skull & Bones was that it likely didn’t need to be in development hell. If Ubisoft just made a straightforward open-world pirate RPG and didn’t try to force in live service crap, it would’ve released a lot sooner.

I beat that game the other day. It was a good game with a emotional story.
They should've added honorable mentions like atomic heart, dying light 2, resident evil 4 (original), and diablo 3.
As of now, Beyond Good and Evil 2 has dethroned Duke Nukem Forever as the longest game in development hell.
I’m so glad Doom 2016 made it through development hell, because without it we wouldn’t have gotten the awesomeness that was Doom Eternal
Games going through Development Torture either end up universally loved or universally hated
For me it definitely it has to be 'The Last Guardian'. I know it's not as big a hitter as Shadow of the Colossus or Ico but to me it still hit all the right spots. Love that game!
I'm thankful that doom 2016 and Metroid dread made it to our hands
Doom made it through development Hell on the PS3
Top Ten Times Gamers gave Gamer Culture a Bad Name.
Top 10 video game swords
Man, to think Metroid fans dreaded about Dread being a reality at all. Let’s hope hope Prime 4 also makes the wait worth it.
Duke 4Ever should've been #1.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake also escaped, square enix was collab with cyberconnect2
We needed a new Metroid game after that spinoff game nobody wanted on the Nintendo 3DS called Metroid Prine: Federation Force. Dread was a great game.
The Last Guardian
Can you do Top 10 Angels & Demons that are enemies to the main video game Characters.
I'm so disappointed we're not going to be getting a Metroid movie
Skull and Bones should’ve remained in hell
Good grief! They neglected to mention the masterfully produced The Last Guardian!
Yeah we'll I certainly hope Metroid Prime 4 escapes development Hell.
Nintendo doesn't develop Kirby, that Hal laboratory.
0:12 Never liked that game. Never any good at it, either. That seems to be the case with a lot of development hell titles.

I dont care how long just make a good game .

😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Resident Evil 4 (2005)
I think you covered that video before
hellblade 2 still in Development huh
Skull and bones are a sinking ship
Duke Nukem Forever is the only answer.
Unfortunately that's not the true final fantasy series games from 13 on I called it the new final fantasy series because it was nothing like the original final fantasy was and still is at least to me anyway😔🙏
Metroid is Classic
Hi
How long it took to develop next Duke?
Forever...😂😂😂😂

What’s the point with the edits you put in your videos. Its kind of annoying especially when Metroid Dread shows.
