This is something the OLD school jazz cats would have done.... I mean, not necessarily this specific exercise, but they were always pushing themselves... that's why those 65 and 70 year old 1st gen jazz drummers could do burning 15 minute solos without even breaking a sweat and be absolutely clean.
I hear you! There's still plenty of modern drummers who are really pushing themselves and the limits of the music. But I'd have to agree that the technique of the previous generation was pretty incredible.

Great lesson, i work every day on Rudimental Ritual since 1997 and i like all the variations and permutations, thanks for sharing !!
Great way to add spice to practice routine, thanks for sharing. I play it with clave and tumbao. Once heard of playing it with 5/8 ostinato and now trying to figure out how to play the whole ritual over odd time
nice approach! Thanks!! Have you tried doing (without those displacements) all the Ritual in 3/4 measures instead of 4/4? (with HH/BD/BD foot oscinate)
Excellent video Jacob. Thank you.

Cool! 5/8 going over the barline, or re-writing the ritual so it fits into 5/8?
@@JacobWutzkejust an ostinato like RLRLL in 8 notes over the barline is already a challenge for me and I don't feel like rewriting the masterpiece:)
Excellent. You did a wonderful job of explaining this, by the way.
Thank you!
This is amazing. Love the creative approach here.
Thanks for checking it out!

I haven't yet! In some cases you would have to re-write the phrasing to fit it into 3/4.. Maybe I'll work something out.
Great!!!
very cool i love it
Thank you!
