I had this board at one time, just did not care for it for many of the same issues as stated here in this video. Great Video Del! Keep up the great work and stay safe.
I've had this board from 2013 and I've been running it on an old 17" lcd. For me bomb jack is working perfectly, no lag nor sound issues. You can also add your own games on this if you google around a bit.
Yeah, I heard that from a couple people. My guess is my particular LCD had unsupported refresh rates, causing lag. If the price ever comes down on that Multigame PCB I may pick it up again and give it another shot.
Hey Del, Have you tried bypassing the onboard VGA connector on the 412 in 1 and hooking up a GBS-8200 Video Converter CGA/EGA/YUV/RGB TO VGA? This might get rid of the glitchy issues on some games.
I've had this board for ten years now. First thing I got was a scanline generator which made the games look a bit nicer. Shame a lot of the games run with issues, my main gripe is screen tearing on the scrolling shooters, it really ruins the look of the game. I have about 50 games which seem to run ok kept on the menu. Amidar is probably my most played game.
Always use or get a Freesync/G-Sync monitor for emulation for best experience possible, bonus if it rotates for portrait and then a good HLSL config for best image quality as scanlines and shadow mask enhance the aracde games on LCDs.
lol, this game board has been around a long time. It's in hundreds of thousands of coin-ops machines around the world...and people been pumping quarters in them without complaint! I have this elf in two cabinets with custom menus and they work great.
I have the same issue with my hand elf 750 in 1 horizontal. Pretty sure they are the same hardware (even 3 years later). I just wanted moon patrol. Even using CGA there are some last issues, on MOON PATROL for pete's sake. I noticed even in the menu there is a .5 or so second lag in the audio when you hit up or down to select a game. I changed it to single game so it boots directly to moon patrol, using CGA, and the audio lag is just killing me. Motion-wise it's all good, press for and it goes, ours jump and it jumps, but the sound comes .5 to 1 second later. I guess for 100 bucks you get what you pay for.
Thanks a lot for this video, do you have any idea how to fix the CRT dripping display at the top of the screen with "1P" and "high score" on Galaga for example (14'45" in the video), it also happens with Bomb Jack and some other games... I have that same issue with the 412 in 1 with my CRT scratch built cab
Nice video. Do you mind me asking where you purchased your PCB? I bought one about a year ago and my home screen is totally different? Thanks, stay safe! Matt
I’ve got a good question here..Did you use a 16:9 ratio or 4:3 (or 5:4) LCD monitor? It looks like a 16:9. So my thinking it’s not necessary the conversion as much as the scaling that’s happening in real-time.
I understand a lot of arcade fans especially purist would prefer CRT over LCD/LED but keep in mind that they're becoming more and more hard to come by due to being illegal to manufacture nowadays because they're environmentally unfriendly and it so beyond outdated. however, to each of his/her own.
Technically, CRTs are only environmentally unfriendly if you dispose of them. Which is why I'm dedicated (as much as possible) to fixing them so they last another 40 years. If an LCD breaks however: Most people will toss the broken LCD and swap it out for a new one, due to cost. That's hardly environmentally friendly at all. :-)
@@delsarcade well, that it currect and the reason why it being dispose of so much was due to television has gotten much more slimmer and less balky. the trade off is that HD, 4K can be a bit a hassle to translate on low resolution and low ratio video and picture. don't get me wrong. I just picked up a SF2 cab with a elf 750 + CRT WG k7000 monitor and I’m seeing some terrible banding while playing side scrolling (horizontal and vertical games) any ideas If it’s the board or the incompatibility of the refresh rate since the k7000 is 15hz? Supposedly it’s set to CGA 15hz. I might dig out an old LCD and output to a VGA display to see if it’s the board when I get a chance. Thanks and great video!
I am glad I watched your video because I'm not interested in games that don't run right. Do the games on the 60n1 run good? Or do they lag too? I have an 8n1 Partycade from Arcade1up w/ 17inch LCD monitor and I would like to mod it if I can get games that run good. The games in this cab run perfect but there are only 8 of them....just 3 that I actually like to play. I would love to have 60 games in it but I don't want to mess with it unless I can get games that run true to the originals.
The 60 in 1 board is not perfect. It's good for some games but not others. Way better than this Game Elf though. No video lag, but it does have ever so slight input lag (they all do including Pi setups). But you can go wrong for a $40 board. My advice is to get it from Amazon, give it a try and return it if you are not satisfied.
Input lag is a micro second that happens when you move the controls to what's happening on the screen. It's so minute most people don't notice it. But me having the original machines I can sense it. That said, I was content for MANY years with the 60 in 1. I still in fact have mine in my bartop.

They make a bunch of different 500 to 1 arcade boards from so many different brands and makers, which one to choose that is going to work good with LCD and LED displays with no delays issues and sound issues?

Most games are unplayable. But not using the VGA port and using the normal JAMMA RGB works fine. Go figure. It made me annoyed enough to make this video. 👍🏼
I'm looking forward to microLED displays. I'm also looking forward to the day when display manufacturers decide we have enough resolution and to concentrate their efforts in other areas like reducing latency and improving motion resolution.
Its the refresh rate guys, CRTs have a horizontal refresh of 15khz while an led has 30khz. The reason the games lag on LCD is because it has to use frame skipping .
@@namegoeshere69 LCD's are typically 60kHz. The point is, this cheap PCB doesn't switch properly. Period. Causing stuttering. The frame skipping issue is typical on LCDs, but NEVER this bad. My 60 in 1 runs better on my LCD. It's the Game Elf. Terrible programming.
@@delsarcade 60 kHz vertical refresh rate, 30 khz HORIZONTAL refresh rate.
