    Good commentary on the Vlcak. They are an extremely loyal breed. One point that needs to be made......If they do not get the proper exercise, they will become destructive. Even with a lot of exercise they are prone to destroy things. Ask any of us that have a Vlcak. You have to choose between having them or nice things. You can't have both.

    I have one, she's a female, she is so energetic , play a lot, lovely , It doesn't smell like a dog, in fact it doesn't smell, it's almost insensitive, very smart, it checks every movement action, what I work on, when I think, as if it understands what I'm doing, They need a lot of movement, to explore the terrain, to enter the paths, to jump through the vegetation, things that bring them great satisfaction. And of course she is very happy and satisfied after you take her in nature, to cross rivers, after a day trip on foot we are low battery but they still hop

    The problem is that many people want those dogs for their wolf likeness but think they get a house dog.
    They are not. Hunting can involve even small dogs. And leaving them alone is cruel because they are are verrrrrry bonded. There are cases where wolfdogs chewed up walls or even broke through closed windows to get out from home and look for their owner who was at work.

      This dog was bred for military and guard work, so yes, with proper training, they are excellent for guarding and protecting. They are very watchful and alert, but only rarely agressive without a reason.

    What is the main difference between saarloos and chechoslovakian?

    • @Rocadog
      @Rocadog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, they are very similar, because they are both result of German Shepherd x Wolf breeding. But they are not identical. The main differences are size (Saarloos is slightly taller and heavier), color (CSW is always wolf gray, Saarloos can be white/cream or red) and temperament (Saarloos is more shy, Czechoslovakian is more courageous) and energy level (Saarloos is not that much active, Czechoslovakian is much more energetic breed).
      There are probably some other differences. I think this would be a good comparsion video, so thank you for a video idea! I will study the topic and find out all the differences and if i will find enough info for a video, i will make it!

      I see them from time to time, it is definitely the most popular wolfdog here. There is one rescue station of Czechoslovakian Wolfdog and they currently have 14 dogs for adoption. Which is quite a lot, Czech republic is a small country.

      It does not matter how many dogs are bred in the Czech Republic or Slovakia. Over the years, this changes and depends on how popular the breed is at present. It is important that the breed originated at all, in 1968 it threatened that it would not. Most Czechoslovakian wolfhounds are probably bred in Italy, more than in the Czech Republic and Slovakia together.

    @Rocadog AWESOME VIDEO THANK YOU VERY MUCH!😀 I like the idea that they mix the dog food wolf always believe that wolves are very intelligent so what is an excellent blend. Question would that be a good working dog safe for a blind person need a guard/ guide dog? It sounds like it and I believe would offer enough in imitation Factor so people would think twice about bothering somebody what's a dog like this. And they look beautiful the coat everything about them do you like you should be slightly higher than San Belgian shepherd. I'm sorry if I talk too much have a great day and thank you again handshake.

    • @Rocadog
      @Rocadog  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would not say that they are the best guide dogs. Blind person need a dog that is totally devoted and obedient. The Czechoslovakian Wolfdog is very intelligent, but they can be independent thinkers and they are definitely strong willed. I think that the best combination for guide/guard dog would be the classic GSD or maybe the Doberman. But there is a difference between the Doberman in Europe and USA. The European Doberman is much stronger and i would say they have their original protective temperament and i never seen them here serving as guide or even as service dogs. But the American Doberman should be easier to handle (they are more like family pets) and i think they are used as guide dogs in the USA.. They are definitely serving as service dogs.

    • @Rocadog
      @Rocadog  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Initially the first GSD / Wolf crosses were very difficultt to train, so they were again bred with German Shepherd-Dogs, decreasing the proportion of "wolf-blood" to 6.25% in the fourth generation. But i am not sure which wolfdog has the highest percentage of wolf blood
