In reality, time has no end. In fact, astronomers and scientists are starting to acknowledge that time has no beginning either. We reside in an infinite uni/multi-verse that has always existed, and will continue to exist into perpetuity. It’s all rebirth after rebirth. Something new replacing something old. But there was, is, and always will be something. I know, it’s beyond our realm of comprehension.

This movie ran as an easter special in the late 70's i was a 15 yr old teen at the time..didn't know christ as my own personal saviour. This film impacted God was sowing the seed in my heart. I became a born again believer In 1978. And been through so many heartbreaking 💔 situations. & jesus has upheld me and walked through those trials with me. He is such a faithful god. It took his death and suffering on the cross a suffering messiah to reach a suffering & dying world.. The best rendition of jesus birth death & ressurection ever shown & his sacrifice to reconcile us to god. All we like sheep have gone astray.
Francesco Zeffirelli did such a beautiful series. The actor who played Jesus was just amazing. It is a shame this scene was deleted. The crucifixion scene was deeply felt. How horrible a death this was for anyone especially an innocent. I love thé conclusion which is actually the beginning.
In August 1984 I cried out to Jesus in a very short prayer, " Jesus, if You will take me back and be my friend, I will serve You for the rest of my life.". I was 25 years old. He immediately changed my heart and mind. I wanted to read the Bible as often as possible, attend church often, and talked about Jesus to everyone I knew. I am 64 now and I am still in awe of what He did for me. My hair has a lot of gray now, I see the things taking place in this world. I know Jesus is alive, because of that day over 38 years ago. I could never have continued without Him then, and I want to see Him in glory. He is willing to save you, too, and set your feet on His path for you. Then you will know for sure that He is alive. After being a sinner for 25 years I watched this movie, peoples testimonies of being contacted by Jesus, and going to heaven or hell before coming back to life in a hospital, all on TH-cam, has brought me back to Jesus and God’s path. I returned to church again, started praying again, stopped watching pornography, began forgiving others. If your heart is open to it, no matter how bad a sinner you are, I believe the Holy Spirit will enter you and help you find Jesus. We may be thousands of years removed from when Jesus walked the earth, but he is still with us no less than he was back then. Give him just a little faith, try just a little bit, and the holy spirit will enter you. Your life may not transform immediately, but little by little it will. I’m living proof.

But there is nothing good in that entire industry, which is built on the sins of adultery, fornication, incest and every other form of sexual immorality known to man, tempts women with cash and adoration, and tempts men with seemingly cost free indulgence in pleasure. But I'm growing older by the minute, and no more confident to inaugurate my own family due to this relentless fear of rejection, which I impose on myself. This is surely a form of madness, but it is far beyond my own ability to cure. I wish to protect my future family from myself, but if I keep at it, I might never have a future family to protect. God help me. He made me in His Image and Likeness. He wants to bless me and not to curse me. He wants me to live and not to die. He wants to multiply me and not cut me and my seed off from the land of the living. But by what can these impossible seeming objectives be achieved? The marriage life is strewn with divorces, acrimony and bitterness. Broken homes and single parent children. God forbid I join their numbers. But who am I to hope to do better? Am I not a sinner, just as they are? Did David not keep the law and boast about it and compose Psalms about it, only, to find himself a sinner who would not only commit adultery, but even also, murder in an attempt to cover up his evil act, and lie and covet and dishonour his own father and mother? Was King Solomon not full of wisdom? And yet, even he was led astray by his lust for foreign princess brides who led him into committing idolatry, even building Idol Temples in the very Jerusalem he built God His House, which was supposed to be sacred to Him, and not only so, in his old age, he succumbed to the temptation to follow his foreign princess wives into committing idolatry with them, maybe because they were at least as skillful at nagging as Delilah was to Samson. Oh, how the mighty have fallen! Adam, brought to his knees by his dear beloved God created wife into doing the unthinkable! And which one of us men is any better? Only Jesus stood His ground, even against Simon Peter, calling him Satan to his face and asking him to get behind Him, because he had become a stumbling block to Him, because in trying to preserve Jesus' soul life, he had succumbed to setting his mind on the things of men and not on the things of God. He had taken his eyes off the prize. He had let himself get distracted by the fear of death and humiliation and rejection. He permitted grief and loss aversion to get the better of him. He didn't want to lose Jesus, but it was expedient for him to give Jesus to God, so that he might gain Him for himself forever. Oh Lord! I'm a sinner! I'm worthy of death! But You do not delight in burnt offerings and in peace offerings, or I would offer them up. Instead, a broken and contrite heart pleases You the most. You have torn me to pieces. Now heal me. I was born in 1972 and for me Robert Powell is the best actor to portray Jesus. This is probably because Jesus Of Nazareth was released and shown on TV when I was in primary school/ early High School years over here in Northern Ireland. As an Anglican(Church Of Ireland) Christian I find this video inspiring in my faith especially as I write this comment on Easter Monday 2023. May God bless everyone who watches this video.🙏

There's no other Jesus movie like this one. I could watch it 1000 times and still want to watch it again. I was a young teenager when it came out. Every part of this movie was so powerful and moving it always brought me to tears. I loved King of Kings too, but this one was even better!

I remember this film. They had him say, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." They omitted, "No man comes to the Father but by me." Here, they omitted what Thomas said after he felt the wounds and fell to his knees, "My Lord, and my God!"
It is inevitable with the passage of time, of course, but it is interesting nevertheless that when going through the actors' credits we see that many of them have by now, gone on to see and meet Jesus - personally!😊

I was so lucky to watch this when it first came out on television. I forget how many nights it took, and how many hours....at least 12 hours from what I recall. And I can only say that EVERY scene that was later deleted was a winner. I was SO sad to see them all go. I've wished ever since that a FULL unedited version could somehow be released. That would be AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!! There aren't even the words to say how amazing.

Perhaps I was always sensitive to this, but since being Born Again in the Spirit just over a year ago, I cry at EVERY depiction of the life and misdion, even ones that may seem to have low production values. "Jesus of Nazareth" shaped my childhood back at that time, but it is only in the 2020s that I see more fully. And now I wear my heart on my sleeve and that's just as is should be.

When I Google the phrase "the greatest man who ever lived", I get lots of sites referring to Jesus of Nazareth. But they're all typically Christian websites. So you get Christians claiming that Jesus was the greatest man who ever lived. This is of course biased. And while the question of 'who was the greatest man that ever lived' is quite subjective, actual attempts have been made by all sorts of scholars in all kinds of fields, to produce an objective list of the greatest men in history. So when you Google the list of greatest or most influencial men in history, a different result keeps showing up. What these unbiased, objective Western men concluded was that, although they wanted to rank Jesus as number one on the list, they had to be realistic and they consistently and convincingly placed someone else at the top of that list. You Google the result and see who they say was actually and factually the greatest, most influencial and most succesful human being that ever walked on this planet.

I have this on DVD. I watch it frequently. I was 7 yrs old in spring of 1977 when this was broadcasted around the world for the first time. Robert Powell was the actor that played Jesus. His portrayal is the best one. Hands down. He is exactly how I picture Our Lord. The cast of this entire movie was AMAZING! Legends, all. Even Pope John Paul ll publicly praised the film for its portrayal of His life, death and resurrection. ✝️
This actor was definitely born to be Jesus. When an elderly seamstress, who had not yet seen the actor, entered the room to give the tunic a final touch-up, she was so overwhelmed with emotion, that she fell to her knees saying, "My Lord!"
In my opinion this is the best Jesus Christ Movie I ever seen. And I have watched many Jesus Christ movies. I cried when he was on cross crying out to the father.
Your comment misses the point of his depiction of Jesus. Jesus sees right through us to our core. He offers the choice to us: Accept his love and his offer of reconciliation or remain in your sins and turn away from God.

So, while I appreciate what Zeferelli and Powell were aiming for, it doesn't personally resonate with me as much as Jonathon Roumie's performance does. However, YOUR comment misses the point that artistic merit or not, Robert Powell's eyes must still have been killing him because of the physical effort needed. I suspect you may have missed this because you tripped over your urgent drive to proselytise to me. (Which, incidentally, is not needed. I have asked Christ to save me, many years ago.)

In my opinion, this television miniseries is probably the best overall telling of the the life of Jesus ever put on screen. It is chock full of A-list actors from the period and treats the biblical stories very reverently. Both the writing and acting are excellent. If you have never watched "Jesus of Nazareth" it is definitely worth the purchase price.
Despite the theater-like performances, this is one amazing miniseries. Robert Powell did such a great job playing Jesus. And, of course, Zeffirelli's approach was brilliant: go at the story from a social and political view-point. And achieved both a great commentary on the times in which Jesus lived His earthly life, and the amazing ministry of our Lord!

Francesco Zeffirelli did such a beautiful series. The actor who played Jesus was just amazing. It is a shame this scene was deleted. The crucifixion scene was deeply felt. How horrible a death this was for anyone especially an innocent. I love thé conclusion which is actually the beginning.

After being a sinner for 25 years I watched this movie, peoples testimonies of being contacted by Jesus, and going to heaven or hell before coming back to life in a hospital, all on TH-cam, has brought me back to Jesus and God’s path. I returned to church again, started praying again, stopped watching pornography, began forgiving others. If your heart is open to it, no matter how bad a sinner you are, I believe the Holy Spirit will enter you and help you find Jesus. We may be thousands of years removed from when Jesus walked the earth, but he is still with us no less than he was back then. Give him just a little faith, try just a little bit, and the holy spirit will enter you. Your life may not transform immediately, but little by little it will. I’m living proof.

But I'm growing older by the minute, and no more confident to inaugurate my own family due to this relentless fear of rejection, which I impose on myself. This is surely a form of madness, but it is far beyond my own ability to cure. I wish to protect my future family from myself, but if I keep at it, I might never have a future family to protect.
God help me. He made me in His Image and Likeness. He wants to bless me and not to curse me. He wants me to live and not to die. He wants to multiply me and not cut me and my seed off from the land of the living.
But by what can these impossible seeming objectives be achieved? The marriage life is strewn with divorces, acrimony and bitterness. Broken homes and single parent children.
God forbid I join their numbers. But who am I to hope to do better? Am I not a sinner, just as they are? Did David not keep the law and boast about it and compose Psalms about it, only, to find himself a sinner who would not only commit adultery, but even also, murder in an attempt to cover up his evil act, and lie and covet and dishonour his own father and mother?
Was King Solomon not full of wisdom? And yet, even he was led astray by his lust for foreign princess brides who led him into committing idolatry, even building Idol Temples in the very Jerusalem he built God His House, which was supposed to be sacred to Him, and not only so, in his old age, he succumbed to the temptation to follow his foreign princess wives into committing idolatry with them, maybe because they were at least as skillful at nagging as Delilah was to Samson.
Oh, how the mighty have fallen! Adam, brought to his knees by his dear beloved God created wife into doing the unthinkable! And which one of us men is any better?

I was born in 1972 and for me Robert Powell is the best actor to portray Jesus. This is probably because Jesus Of Nazareth was released and shown on TV when I was in primary school/ early High School years over here in Northern Ireland. As an Anglican(Church Of Ireland) Christian I find this video inspiring in my faith especially as I write this comment on Easter Monday 2023.

There's no other Jesus movie like this one. I could watch it 1000 times and still want to watch it again. I was a young teenager when it came out. Every part of this movie was so powerful and moving it always brought me to tears. I loved King of Kings too, but this one was even better!

and how many hours....at least 12 hours from what I recall. And I can only say that EVERY scene that was later deleted was a winner. I was SO sad to see them all go. Perhaps I was always sensitive to this, but since being Born Again in the Spirit just over a year ago, I cry at EVERY depiction of the life and misdion, even ones that may seem to have low production values. "Jesus of Nazareth" shaped my childhood back at that time, but it is only in the 2020s that I see more fully. And now I wear my heart on my sleeve and that's just as is should be.

So you get Christians claiming that Jesus was the greatest man who ever lived. This is of course biased. And while the question of 'who was the greatest man that ever lived' is quite subjective, actual attempts have been made by all sorts of scholars in all kinds of fields, to produce an objective list of the greatest men in history. So when you Google the list of greatest or most influencial men in history, a different result keeps showing up. What these unbiased, objective Western men concluded was that, although they wanted to rank Jesus as number one on the list, they had to be realistic and they consistently and convincingly placed someone else at the top of that list. You Google the result and see who they say was actually and factually the greatest, most influencial and most succesful human being that ever walked on this planet.

I have this on DVD. I watch it frequently. I was 7 yrs old in spring of 1977 when this was broadcasted around the world for the first time. Robert Powell was the actor that played Jesus. His portrayal is the best one. Hands down. He is exactly how I picture Our Lord. The cast of this entire movie was AMAZING! Legends, all. Even Pope John Paul ll publicly praised the film for its portrayal of His life, death and resurrection. ✝️

So, while I appreciate what Zeferelli and Powell were aiming for, it doesn't personally resonate with me as much as Jonathon Roumie's performance does.
However, YOUR comment misses the point that artistic merit or not, Robert Powell's eyes must still have been killing him because of the physical effort needed. In my opinion, this television miniseries is probably the best overall telling of the the life of Jesus ever put on screen. It is chock full of A-list actors from the period and treats the biblical stories very reverently. Both the writing and acting are excellent. If you have never watched "Jesus of Nazareth" it is definitely worth the purchase price.
Yeah, it's a great series. Next after Breaking Bad it's my favorite.

Despite the theater-like performances, this is one amazing miniseries. Robert Powell did such a great job playing Jesus. And, of course, Zeffirelli's approach was brilliant: go at the story from a social and political view-point. And achieved both a great commentary on the times in which Jesus lived His earthly life, and the amazing ministry of our Lord!
