When I read this part I remember Goliath not being challenged straight away, but waiting a few days, and David picking up pebbles the morning before the fight. Also, after he shot him in the head, David proceeded to behead Goliath for all the soldiers to see with a sword.

My favorite part of this story is that David actually begins to run at Goliath in the verse before he releases the stone. David knew that God was protecting him and would deliver him to victory. David did not just wait to see if the stone would fell the giant either, he closed the gap, brought the giant to the ground, relinquished the massive sword from Goliath, and took the giant's head. Confidence in God's plan allows us to run at our troubles like David did.

I remember reading that s story for the first time in the Old Testament. They always seem to get the sling wrong. What filmmakers don't know is that if a sling hit you like that the stone would crack your skull wide open. David was a shepard. He used his sling mostly to kill wolves that went after his flock. He was a damn good shot too. Hitting Goliath from that range would have been an easy thing for someone of his skills. Which is probably the best part of the story, in my opinion.
100% agree. Also, I don’t believe Goliath actually took off his helmet. He had a lifetime of experience as a warrior and would never underestimate his opponent like that.

However, the scriptural account of the fight between David and Goliath is very detailed; even down to the number of stones David picked up for his sling. I have to imagine that the author would have recorded something as significant as Goliath being arrogant to the point of removing his battle helmet.
@@shadow_ax Well, there are three possibilities: 1 - The helmet did not cover the entirety of his face and the rock then managed to hit in a very tight space, unprotected and vulnerable enough to knock Goliath down. 2 - There was divine intervention, increasing the amount of force done by the rock, to the point it would pass right through a brass (or iron) helmet. Maybe by God himself or even a Principality, said to have helped him, but I can't offer any sources in this part; it's speculation, thus far. 3 - Mistake on the account of the writter, but since he would have been inspired by the Holy Spirit, I find it very unlikely if it's a detail that might be important, in the bigger scheme of things. I believe that the Bible is very precise and offer very detailed accounts over certain subjects, whenever necessary. At the same time, some details are skipped over intentionally, to allow our imaginary or rational to act, according to the subject in hand, so we can relate it to God's principles and in the context of how He was shown to act.

The bible is more or less a fairy tale book, so it is quit possible, that this hole story is made up or more of an metapher. So a regisseur can make it like he/she wants.

They missed some interesting details ... They actually tried to put armor on David but he was too small and it was too heavy... And he starting running towards Goliath while swinging his sling , the stone hit Goliath , Goliath fell and David didn't stop running until he reached Goliath then David took Goliath's own sword and beheaded him .. and David kept the sword 🗡️🗡️

Goliath held a spear. Yes, he had the sword but he was equipt with the spear and a shield. He didn't remove his helmet either. He began walking towrds David before David ran full speed at Goliath and slang the stone. The stone went right through Goliaths defenses and hit him on the forehead so hard it pierced his skull. So I imagine, especially with God's power, it was similar to Goliath being shot in the head. Some of these slings could project a stone so hard it they could have the power of a .38. David killed Goliath with the stone and cut off his head to ensure the deed was done. Displaying the head of the strongest warrior to your enemy was used to intimidate solidify your victory. There were no if, ands, out buts; you were victorious.

First: David picked up FIVE (not one), SMOOTH (small and round not lumpy) stones from a STREAM (not off the ground). Second: David tried on Saul’s armor first and then took it off (not just a shield). Third: David also approached Goliath with his shepherd’s staff (not JUST a sling and stone). Forth: Goliath was also carrying a spear (a very large one), and a javelin. Fifth: Goliath also had a shield bearer walking before him. Sixth: The stone “sank deeply INTO” Goliath”s forehead (I didn’t just bounce off). I also counted several other inaccuracies with this depiction. For God’s sake....read a book! Crazy to think that Goliath (according to the Bible) was six and a half feet tall, and according to average heights of the day that made him a giant. I also like that they didn’t make David a child. Though they did skip over David putting on Saul’s armor. Given that Saul was a head taller than all the other Israelites, for David to even be able to out it on he had to be a pretty big dude.
It’s not talked about just how much force a sling is capable of producing. In some cases, with a long enough sling and manmade ammunition, a projectile could rip through unarmored flesh. David’s weapon of choice was basically him picking an ancient gun, as it is estimated that slingers were capable of producing Kinetic force equal to that of .38 bullets.

The only inaccurate thing on this was David's attitude. After talking with God he went to the battlefield with confidence. David was one hell of a personality. A man with great confidence and faith in God.

Goliath is a figurative type of the many trials we face throughout the Christian life! Some of our tests, trials and enemies are just as big, and can seem difficult to defeat! But with God, all things are possible!

In reality this could easily be done from someone with lot's of skills and practice with a sling. David practiced a lot and so he had the skills to sling that stone precisely. The stone was a projectile with a lot of speed, could easily sink into a skull enough to kill or knock a man out. What Goliath's mistake was he took off his helmet, he didn't have a clue of David's skill. Also the original story was David cut off Goliath's head once he hit the ground, there was always that chance Goliath came too and David knew that from his experience with the sling on other animals while he was a shepard.

All Goliath had to do was wait until David had let go then cover his head and throat with his arms preventing damage to vital parts, it’s inconceivable that a warrior was ignorant of the dangers of sling shot projectiles.
Hard to film perhaps? If it was animated it might be easier to portray, but this movie was not animated and blood would be needed as well to more accurately portray the movie. Did Goliath fight without his helmet on? The Bible does not say, but it was proven that David killed Goliath by hitting his head either way. I also do not know why Goliath would be foolish enough to fight without his helmet on, but perhaps it was because he had underestimated the boy as well.

When I read this part I remember Goliath not being challenged straight away, but waiting a few days, and David picking up pebbles the morning before the fight. Also, after he shot him in the head, David proceeded to behead Goliath for all the soldiers to see with a sword.

My favorite part of this story is that David actually begins to run at Goliath in the verse before he releases the stone. David knew that God was protecting him and would deliver him to victory. David did not just wait to see if the stone would fell the giant either, he closed the gap, brought the giant to the ground, relinquished the massive sword from Goliath, and took the giant's head. Confidence in God's plan allows us to run at our troubles like David did.

I remember reading that s story for the first time in the Old Testament. They always seem to get the sling wrong. What filmmakers don't know is that if a sling hit you like that the stone would crack your skull wide open.
David was a shepard. He used his sling mostly to kill wolves that went after his flock. He was a damn good shot too. Hitting Goliath from that range would have been an easy thing for someone of his skills.
Which is probably the best part of the story, in my opinion.

I have to imagine that the author would have recorded something as significant as Goliath being arrogant to the point of removing his battle helmet.

1 - The helmet did not cover the entirety of his face and the rock then managed to hit in a very tight space, unprotected and vulnerable enough to knock Goliath down.
2 - There was divine intervention, increasing the amount of force done by the rock, to the point it would pass right through a brass (or iron) helmet. Maybe by God himself or even a Principality, said to have helped him, but I can't offer any sources in this part; it's speculation, thus far.
3 - Mistake on the account of the writter, but since he would have been inspired by the Holy Spirit, I find it very unlikely if it's a detail that might be important, in the bigger scheme of things.
I believe that the Bible is very precise and offer very detailed accounts over certain subjects, whenever necessary. At the same time, some details are skipped over intentionally, to allow our imaginary or rational to act, according to the subject in hand, so we can relate it to God's principles and in the context of how He was shown to act.

3 David picked up 5 smooth flat stones and when he slung the stone the stone stuck into the skull of Goliath

What made 5his story great is that David went into battle with the mindset that he had already one the fight because God was with him this made him look like a scared little boy that got a lucky shot

Goliath held a spear. Yes, he had the sword but he was equipt with the spear and a shield. He didn't remove his helmet either. He began walking towrds David before David ran full speed at Goliath and slang the stone. The stone went right through Goliaths defenses and hit him on the forehead so hard it pierced his skull. So I imagine, especially with God's power, it was similar to Goliath being shot in the head. Some of these slings could project a stone so hard it they could have the power of a .38.
David killed Goliath with the stone and cut off his head to ensure the deed was done. Displaying the head of the strongest warrior to your enemy was used to intimidate solidify your victory. There were no if, ands, out buts; you were victorious.

Second: David tried on Saul’s armor first and then took it off (not just a shield). Third: David also approached Goliath with his shepherd’s staff (not JUST a sling and stone). Forth: Goliath was also carrying a spear (a very large one), and a javelin. Fifth: Goliath also had a shield bearer walking before him. Sixth: The stone “sank deeply INTO” Goliath”s forehead (I didn’t just bounce off). I also counted several other inaccuracies with this depiction. For God’s sake....read a book! Crazy to think that Goliath (according to the Bible) was six and a half feet tall, and according to average heights of the day that made him a giant.
I also like that they didn’t make David a child. Though they did skip over David putting on Saul’s armor. Given that Saul was a head taller than all the other Israelites, for David to even be able to out it on he had to be a pretty big dude.

In reality this could easily be done from someone with lot's of skills and practice with a sling. David practiced a lot and so he had the skills to sling that stone precisely. The stone was a projectile with a lot of speed, could easily sink into a skull enough to kill or knock a man out. What Goliath's mistake was he took off his helmet, he didn't have a clue of David's skill. From the story of David and Goliath, we can learn that the God we serve (and I hope whoever reads this does) is capable of defeating any of the giants in our lives-fear, depression, financial issues, doubts of faith-if we know Him and His nature well enough to step out in faith. When we do not know what the future holds, we have to trust Him. But we can’t trust someone we don’t know, so knowing God through His Word will build our faith in Him.
As Christians who have trusted Christ as the only way to heaven (John 14:6), our battle with the giants in our lives will result in victory if we cling by faith to God and His power. The illustration of David and Goliath is only one of many examples of the supernatural power of our Lord. He cares deeply for His children and wants only our best. Sometimes that involves trials and battles, but these are ultimately for our good and His glory. James tells us to consider it pure joy when we encounter trials because they test our faith and develop patience and perseverance (James 1:2-4). When we are tested by these trials, we can, in the power of the Lord, stand up against any giant, trusting our Savior to win the victory.

Hard to film perhaps? If it was animated it might be easier to portray, but this movie was not animated and blood would be needed as well to more accurately portray the movie.
