Oh this song(and album) brings me back in the day. This is one of my favorite songs of hers to this day. It’s a combination of her lyrics plus her distinctive voice that does it for me
Yes that’s exactly what Adele said, to hear the crowd singing such a personal song it made her so emotional 😭. What an exciting time during the Adele 21 years, to see Adele’s rise to superstardom! That album stayed on the charts worldwide for two years..
I know a few of her songs and have seen a few live performances on screen. And oh boy, is she damn good. There are probably very few times when I would listen to her songs, but that's just a matter of taste. The way she can hold the notes and hit them and the emotions she conveys in her songs are truly extraordinary.
In the first chorus where you thought you heard something…. She decided to keep it down in that octave rather than get into her belt mix. I noticed it too but hard to describe what it is about that part.
You are 100% correct about the original recording. It is mainly just piano. There may be some small strings in the back but not really it’s what gives the song it’s vulnerability and I think that is what the audience feels when they listen to it and I think that’s why a lot of fans connect to this song. Rick Beato reacted to her most recent album and single called easy on me and he mentioned they lack of instrumentation as one of the positives on it as well. I believe that just has piano and a bass guitar but that space is what getting in the gut. And for easy on me, the studio recording is actually unedited at all at all. You can hear she goes a tiny bit flat in certain sections, but that’s what makes it feel human. In the age of auto tune and pitch correction- having a completely raw studio track is rare and ballsy
Whe she made that presentation she was only 23 years old and she was already one of the best aellong singers she was the best selling artist of 2011 ans 2012 now she is 36 years old 16 grammys 1 oscar 1 emmy 1 golden globes 12 brit awards her album 21 is the bigfest album sold from the 21 st and 15th century in general and 3 from a woman. And 2 in her native country england
Adele is a soul and jazz singer british but her voice can explore rock and indie very well adele discarded songs that did not Damon albarn although her genres are soul jazz and pop she would have a very good album rock
Adele is one of those singer who arein danger of extinction she hates fame she only has 4 albums she is a writer who plays several instrumenta she is not ibsessed with being in the industry she has the best selling album of the 21 st century to this day she has had her feet on earth with almost 20 years of career and a very small catalog it is one of the most powerful and best selling song in history but far from the public eye and the showbiz fights of the few sings that they sing better live that in the studio
