I really want to try these microphones! I am a big fan of the older 414's.

Has your opinion changed at all? Also what interface was this recorded through? Very useful video man. Keep it up.

@@insideaudio7164 Thanks for the reply! Last question: I saw your video on the Apogee Symphony and I was wondering if you would still recommend it. Do you still use it along your PreSonus or have you switched over?

@@allenrose3804 No problemo! The Apogee Symphony Pre Amps are just amazing, I use the Apogee way more these days, but the PreSonus is just a nice rack interface with loads of inputs. But if you want something more portable / desktop orientated, go fo the Symphony it's such a sick interface!!

@@insideaudio7164 That's good to hear! I plan on getting the OC818 and either the Symphony or the Apollo Twin X. I'm pretty much set on the OC818 but the interface seems to be a much tougher decision haha. I appreciate your help.

Thank you very much. Do you recommend set of two of these OC18 mics for home an upright piano recording?

In Generell you can put it on everytinng thats the thing, You can have a listen here, its german but the shootout is realy great wit the main high end Mics. I use te OC18 from Guitar Cabinett, to Flute , to Voice, to Piano, its just a super smooth Mic

yepp exactly the same capsule and circuitry, same signiture in the cardiod pattern, OC818 has all the other fancy stuff

@@jimis3167 yes i saw that too but i read the review and came to the point taht this person wasnt a professionell Sound Enginier more likely a Hobby Musician.
I for mysel, i can tell you, i work in an Opera House and we use Both OC818 and OC18 on a wide spectrum on Instrumentes , i can comfortly tell you, that you can interchange them without any problem. the tolerances on these mics are higher then on a lot of Neumanns.

@@jimis3167 For What use ? Broadcast/Streams or Instruments? For me the OC818 is like the 414 the ultra do it all Microphone, its realy detailed and flat and has ultra smooth top end. Neumanns in generall hav absolutly no smooth high end, they are realy bright crisp and in my opinion overexposing , i actualy realy dont like them very much i mostly use the KM184/KM185 but no BigMembrane. Long story short, for Podcast and streams the AT is realy nice, but if you do more i would step up a notch to the OC18 and if you never want to buy another MIC then the OC818 :D,
to be fair there are huge mass of other great mics, but these would be my first choice
