I am a disabled veteran who at 55 weighed 455lbs. I lost 100lbs in two years on WFPB but never felt good doing it. I was on 12 pharma meds, was diabetic and had high blood pressure. At 57 I had a calcium score that came back at 2980. I had no cardiac symptoms, doc just decided to have me get the calcium score. The would not let me leave the hospital. I was 85-90% blocked in 5 arteries. 4 days later I had a quintuple bypass. 2 weeks later I was discharged and immediately started carnivore for a month. Then began adding keto veggies and full fat dairy back into the diet to figure out what we could eat and not cause us issue. Of course my docs told me keto/carnivore would cause my ldl to sky rocket and eventually kill me.
It’s now a little over two years later on Keto and intermittent fasting, I’ve lost another 100lbs, am no longer diabetic, have normal blood pressure and take zero big pharma poison. Two weeks ago I went for a 6 month check up. My hdl is 80, ldl is 60, triglycerides 61, bp averages 119/72, A1c is 5.4 and all other numbers are normal. Doc doesn’t believe what she is seeing and wants to do more tests. Sorry not happening.
I ride a recumbent bike a few miles every other day and alternate light dumbbell work outs. I have a lot of damage from carrying an extra 230lbs around for 30 years, lots of arthritis, bursitis in hips and shoulders, 3 bad discs in lower back 2 in neck, spinal stenosis, internal spinal bone spurs, diabetic nerve damage below the knees and nerve damage in chest neck and hands from bypass surgery as well as supposedly fibromyalgia. I think I’m doing pretty damn well at this point. Just have to be careful not to over do it with workouts. I have no health insurance and unfortunately have to rely on the VA.
All of this to say that it can be done if you want it bad enough.

Hey, Doc. I started "Keto": about 7 months ago I lost 15 lbs in a week and a half then stopped losing. I ran onto you channel and found what was wrong, I was not reading labels. Nov. 24 the day before Thanksgiving I hit 100 lbs loss. Monday I was still at 100 lbs. I have 34 more to go to hit my goal. All blood work in Aug. was within normal range and I was Pre-diabetic and my A1C was 5.0. Thank you!!!

I’m very old, so I can remember the beginnings of the Instant Cereals . When it began, the catch was mainly that the cereals came in tiny boxes (10 of them at a time) and mommy would cut into the little box and put the milk right into that tiny box! What a treat….. So different!….and that’s how they introduced us into some of their new flavors. That’s back in NewYork in the 1940’s . Then came Cream Of Wheat, and the parade had a band accompanying it so you never noticed the sneaky growth of nutritional deficiencies.

As yoga teacher, a student of mine came along to my class and said, “you look well, have you lost weight?” I told him about carnivore in about 5 mins. A couple of months later he came back to the class 12 kilos/27 pounds lighter and the chronic pain in his shoulder had gone. I said: “what did you do?” He replied, “what you told me”. Turns out he did no research at all, just ate meat and no carbs. It really is that simple.

I'm a cashier in a small grocery store and yesterday my customer comes up with her groceries...she proceeds to tell me she's on a no fat, no sugar diet .I asked why...oh, I'm diabetic and have pancreatitis...as I'm ringing up cans of peaches (22 grams of sugar and 22 grams extra sugar)...
Non fat cottage cheese (5 grams of sugar)... shelled peanuts...and other crap...
It took all my might to hold my tongue...I so wanted to tell her that what she's buying is not going to help her but hurt her even more, but I knew she would give some explanation about her doctor...blah blah blah....
I knew she wouldn't listen to me... I'm just a store clerk...what do I know?

Hi Doc, I know a young guy who just graduated with his degree in chemical engineering. I was shocked when he went to work for Kellogg. Not Dupont or one of the big oil companies. Kellogg employs a huge staff of very highly paid chemical engineers. The guy I know now travels all over the world for Kellogg and gets huge bonuses for "designing" new "foods". Yup all that junk is engineered to hook you, not to provide you ANY nourishment!

You had me singing every commercial! And ya, I remember Bruce Jenner on the Wheaties box. Michael Jordan was MUCH later for me! 1970 baby. Teen years were Doritos and the Pepsi generation. I was so thin and tiny in HS and college because I was naturally intermittent fasting. My mother always tried to push milk(it always made me feel sick), breakfast(I never wanted food before 11am)clearing your plate, eating all of the vegetables at dinner(starchy) for our ‘vitamins’. Fat free everything, bagels and yogurt were the big thing in college. I wish I knew all of this in my 30’s and 40s while I was raising my kids and working full time. I was so tired of feeling sick and tired for a really long time. Encouraged about the future because in just 4 months of ketovore I feel SO much better.

Rewatching and walking down memory lane. I know all those songs as well as the cute cartoon like characters. My favorite was Sugar Frosted Flakes with whole milk. I remember the Wheatley’s box with Bruce. One point I want to say is mom wouldn’t let us over eat. Mom always reminded us “one bowl was enough.” But, nightly we had milk, ice cream and mom would even make waffle ice cream sandwiches. But again, the theme was sharing the food with my 4 siblings and mom teaching us what a “serving” was. Another point was we were always outside riding our bike and walking the town. I still remember the taste of drinking water out of the hose (warm) tasted like plastic. 🤣
Great post Dr B! Thank you so much for the walk down memory lane. ❤️ I truly believe I had the best childhood! Taught me patience and endurance.

so very true--everything you said about big pharma, docs and big food. the pain, suffering and death this has caused is mind boggling. until big money is OUT of politics we are doomed to ill health and poverty wages.

We’re not doomed. When enough people demand food for a Proper Human Diet, the food industry will change accordingly. When all that junk sits on the shelf unsold, we’ll see change. Product is consumer driven.

One of the best things I found for carnivore and keto was a lemon slice in water or having acv in water. About an hour before or after meals

I am in late 60's, my wife and I have been on keto/if for 5 full months. We have both lost over 50 pounds. We "almost" always keep our carbs under 20g/day. Varied IF usually20/4, but, sometimes 18/6 with a 47/1 thrown in for good measure twice a month. I am breaking off and trying pure carnivore hopefully for 3 months and going to push a 22/02/21. Started on 12/2. Need to fix many problems. Just self diagnosed a inguinal hernia on upper left corner of pubic mound and going to see if all this helps some of them. Wish me luck, lol. p.s. Baken-Ets pork skins are fried in pork lard and the unflavored variety has no added ingredients except salt, I believe. The flavored ones all have MSG.

Ellie Bee , maybe eat more fuel (fat) and eat 3 meals per day? You might be one of those people who are genetically coded to be aerodynamic. If so, you are so lucky! You'll probably be good at bicycling and running competitions and be able to become a model.
