Filipinos are the FIRST ASIANS to reach MEXICO and Latin America via Manila-Acapulco galleon trade in 1565, by the Spaniards. Filipinos brought the coconut tree, mangos to the Mexicans and showed them how to make the coconut wine (Tuba). Today, in the town of Colima, Mexico, you will see how Tuba became a popular drink there. The Mexicans mix Tuba with different kinds of fruit juices and selling them as refreshments. Filipinos also showed the Mexicans how to make the Bangka which the Mexican called the Panga.
Hi Pechay! Thank you for sharing this interesting information. Truly, Filipinos, Mexicans (and Latinos as a whole) are long lost cousins. It's inspiring to share a history with them, and also share a present and future through cultural exchanges through videos like this on TH-cam. By the way, I also heard that there are families in Ilocos, Philippines with Mexican lineage. That would be an interesting story to discover! :)
@@nomadstreet not just Ilocos but all over from Wikipedia "The Latin(Mexican) presence has been marked on the islands, Filipinos with varying percentage of Latin American heritage number a third of the population in the Islands of Luzon alone".
Filipinos 1st came to America On October 18 1587 through the Galleon Trade named: NUESTRA SENORA DE BUENA ESPERANZA. It sailed from Portuguese Macau, to Manila for supplies & countined on saling to California. The ship embarked at Morro Bay, California which is North West of San Francisco, CA. At that time, California, Portland OR., Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico & Texas was still part of New Spain (Mexico ). Fast forward to this age, in dowtown Morro Bay, California a plaque commemorating the history of 1st arrival of Filipinos to the Americas is being remembered. FYI: Morro Bay, CA. is 3 1/2 hours drive from San Francisco, CA.
