You could dance as I can see 🙂Nicely done. You always can tell the difference between just a photographer and a passionate photographer. You are the second type for sure. Thank you.
It help thanks I have a 7' wing parabolic umbrella bounce back and I have to do the event quarter length minister portrait shots and I was glad to see this video. Thanks!
Speedlights work great with large modifiers. All you have to do is experiment with them. I've gotten some great results with a cheap Amazon manual speedlight, a deep 51 inch umbrella and a reflector. The best speedlight set up for quick work is an old Vivitar 283 with a remote sensor cord in an umbrella. That old fashioned auto flash gives amazing results. No one ever says this but you can get great photos at ISO 400 so power output from a speedlight is not a problem for a large modifier.
Nice images! I just had to see how you handled a 70-inch umbrella. My largest umbrella has a 40-inch diameter. I sometimes illuminate it with two speedlights. When I need something larger, I shoot two speedlights through a 6-foot diffusion panel.
Amazing video. I have to shoot tomorrow night portrait in the city. Main light on repair. I have godox 90 cm parabolic octa and 160cm white umbrella with white diffuser. And only speedlight. How do you think can I manage some night city portraits with city light bokeh on the background? Full body shots.
I leave it at wide to cover more surface area of the umbrella. Come to think of it, I would love to test that. In theory, using the zoom in that size umbrella may have the effect of a parabolic.

I really do love what I do! Thank you.
Loved this video. Refreshing subject and great images!

Omg I use to love my 283! I used one for over 15 years and it just never died or missed.
love this video - fun stuff
Thanks for taking the time to watch!
Great input sir, as usual. Keep them coming.....Wonderful images.
Thank you Ken. That means a lot.
Thank you for a great video and it was very educational and inspiring to watch 👌👏🏻
You’re very welcome and thank you!

What a difference in the young girl's confidence...!
She did change really quick.
I have a 7ft umbrella with a diffusion sock and it's such a great light that takes up very little space compared to a softbox.
It really is a great option and much less expensive.

I find tethering to a computer for subjects (especially young ones) to see themselves works really great.
I do agree… but damn do I hate it. 😐
I'll try that next time
John. Does the zoom of the flash matter in an umbrella/softbox this size?

I'm going to shoot with my big umbrella on my next shoot and try this out.
Please let me know how it goes!
Can you talk about the large panel that you are using opposite the umbrella? I noticed you moved it around and switched from white to black
They are V-Flats and as important to me as a second light. I have a video on them that explains how I use them
71 inch white umbrella wipes out all shadows without creating hotspots
They do. And with a little adjusting can be very versatile.
