Hello Richard. I'm at the same "point" haha in my restoration of the same bike. Your videos have been a godsend. So thank you very much. I have a question about the points gap. Are you settling it to 0.3mm when the "F" on the rotator lines up with the mark on the case and the cam lobe on the cam shaft is at its high point. I'm presuming when the cam for the points reaches the low point it fully closes and then just begins to open again the next time the rotator comes round to "F". I've first set it to 0.3mm when lined up with "F" and the points cam lobe on the lowest point. However this means that the points gap is always present and never closes.
Hi Mitchell. I used a multimeter to see at when the points actual opened and used that moment to set the F point. That is to say when the F point reached the marker it confided with the points actually opening. Point gap was set at the moment the gaps were widest. However on the test ride, the performance was " lacking " so I retarded the setting a little and the whole bike picked up nicely. So to answer your question, I don't know 🤦♂️.It was at this point I purchased a strobe timing gun for £18 on eBay ... See my latest video .... And it still needed some adjustment to achieve spot on timing. Having spoken to a few people who do this professionally, they agreed that timing guns are essential.
Brilliant video Richard , thank you for sharing with us all. 👍🇬🇧
Brilliant job richard
Thanks Colin. Uploading the next video as we speak, it just takes hours to upload.

Hello Richard, I would like to know what is the valve setting for this engine..
I need to find my manual to check but from memory I think both were 0.1 mm
Richard, could I ask where you got that yellow handle tappet adjusting tool from?....
I have had it many years but if I remember correctly, it came from David silver spares.... Possibly
Hi Richard Why didn't you convert point to cdi?
Good morning. I'm trying to keep the bike as original as possible.
@@richardjweeks Good morning. OK Richard I like your Comment.👍
