Nice straight forward review. Want to read a crazy psu story? I purchased a Cougar 1000w (U.S.) in anticipation of using it for a future build. This was in early 2019. The psu sat under my desk for about 8 months until I had all components to build my system. And build I did. It kinda' worked, I couldn't get it to run more that just 2 sticks of 8gb ram and only a single SSD which had the windows boot on it. I was flummoxed. I retraced my steps, thought about which of any of the components could be the culprit. I sleuthed to the psu. I removed the Cougar and installed my older Corsair 650w and installed all the ram and connected the 2 other SSD's. Powered up and old 650w started the system flawlessly. So, the defective Cougar. I was unable to return it to Newegg as I'd had it over 8 months. It did have a mfg warranty however. I tried to contact the mfg via email and after some frustrating dead ends (2-3 months) I finally got an RMA # to return the defective psu, shipping my cost. So I did. Hmm, hmm, h.... hey wait I hadn't heard anything. I tried to contact them. Crickets... chirp...no, no chirp. Anger mounted as time when by (3-6 months). I sent emails, angry! Said I would copy the email chain and post it on Reddit to show the failure of Cougar's customer service. Ho! I got a response. "Oh, so sorry, when did you send this to us?" WTF? I then provided the UPS tracking info and that it was confirmed received nearly 8 months or more ago. "Oh, that model of psu is out of production" I don't care, I said, send me a lessor, 850, 750, something. Crickets... oh no chirp. WTF? I then after about 2 months tried again with an angry email, copying the chain to demonstrate the failure. Strangely they replied that they would be sending me a replacement; a different model, a 1200w psu. Wow, that's a beast I thought, ok. I waited, snoozed, forgot... then, hey! What's up with the psu, where is it? 2 months later. Email... hmm... "Oh, we've sent the replacement, here's the tracking." Lo and behold it actually showed up last week, almost 18 months after I had discovered the original was defective and sought a warranty replacement. At least now I have a 1200w monster as a back up psu sitting here. That's my psu story, sorry to bore some, hopefully entertained you Mike and all. Keep on! :)
Have bought a few of the 'budget' Aerocool PSU's and found them to be great! The cabling on this looks even better than the supposedly better Integrator models.
I recently bought the 600W version because it had 2 x PCIe power connectors for my test bench. I swear by Aerocool's 600W 80+ Silver semi modular 'Integrator' model which i use for most builds, so if this one's as decent as i think it's going to be, might be a new option for the budget builds :)
This is the best video ever!! I'm getting my first pc what I have been saving up for and getting this psu and the ionz kz10 pc case what you have done a review on you just earned yourself a new subscriber 👍 Thank you
I think for a budget build this is spot on, like your placeholder build you showcased a little while ago. If I were to install a power hungry CPU or GPU or doing serious overclocking Id probably go with a more reliable brand but I dont want to take anything away from this PSU, it looks like it ticks a lot of boxes ! Thanks for yet another informative video Mike, always appreciated.
Thanks for the great review, Mike! Good to have some budget offerings these days. Glad to see that they went with nice black, flat cables. Usually in this price range they go with the ketchup and mustard stuff.
i know this is probably a dumb question, but would this psu or the aercool intergrator 500w psu fit into the Aerocool Cylon Mini case? This is my first PC that i am upgrading and I am doing it all alone and have no help and i want to make sure i buy all the right parts that fit and are compatiable with eachother. Im also on a budget. I have the Asrock B75M-GL B75 LGA 1155 Micro-ATX motherboard, i5 2500, and im going to be buying the msi gtx 1660. Please let me know if all of these will be compatiable and if it will fit in my Cylon mini case, thank you.
Good review. Not brand related but I am a proud owner of a Novatec black edition 600w PSU with 80+ bronze and Japanese capacitors. Going strong for 7 years but I am building a ryzen and rx5700x system this year. I have researched on PSU calc websites. 550w to 800w is recommended for my setup. Unfortunately Novatec discontinued that model. 😭
Hello Mike nice review, I wanted to tell you that I bought the 600 watts 80+ bronze version and I hat RMA it because of a whine coming from the fan after 2 months of use aprox, I'm waiting for the replacement unit.

Hi ive looked at your videos many times for help and once again have been amazing, im currently looking at the Aerocool Cylon 700W semi Modular Version of this and its on sale down to £37. Would you recommend this product or should i go for a more recognized brand i.e. Be Quiet! Or Corsair. Thanks in advance.
I couldnt find any aero cool products in the US online sites. I was looking for an ITX case and they have a nice one. I never did find. I just ran a short, google search for a psu and nothing on it either
Can't hold up the voltages well under load on the 700w model. Major voltage sags. I'm also dubious about the flimsy thin flat cables being able to pump the amps without going pop in time. It's cheap and budget and with all things cheap and cheerful caveat emptor However there's much worse to be had out there. It all depends if you want to ride your luck with your components. Questionable power supplies can put more strain on your motherboards to smooth out the power and shorten their lifespan.
yeah and i should add if i didn't already, i would recommend trying to push it anywhere near the rated wattage, even 500w really as a constant load, this is really for either older systems or lower power modern ones
You knew I was going to comment on this one........ Hmmm by looks, the est power figures and cables and plugs that could well be an ATNG unit, possibly built on ATM platform, some Rosewill and coolmax units built on that platform and the CM GX Lite was the high end culmination of that platform. ATNG also make some Fractal and Gigabyte units with a connection to in win group I think. I have always totally overlooked these since they came out about 2 year or so ago not looked into them at all as for my experiences with the early integrator units (the theme from just cause 3 playing in my head right now) and quality of a few of their fans like the LED red and blue 120s has put me off looking too much into their cases. I would put a bit more trust into that unit could be OK for putting in a A/H i3 XXXX- R3 3100 series build with no overclocking and a low tbp GPU like a gtx 1650-1660 super or rx 570/5500 max kids fortnite machine. I know you said that already but re-enforcing your sound knowledge. I think I would still rather buy 80+ CIT ATV or a CWT GPT or CM MWE are my current go to basic units within a + or - £2-£3 price difference over one of them. As for cutting them up unplug try clear-discharge the caps first and try safely taping them up before putting them in a steel powder coated case. Don't turn up at hospital claiming Mike made you do it!!! My getting up front with PSUs a few month back comes to a head with my next build in the Cauron case my last one going in that. Got a Dell poweredge R610 full size 2u blade trying to turn into Ubuntu CSGO server for a local youngster to be working on during your next live stream. Hope I can still hear you with the fans going.
Seems like an okay unit. Obviously not for the mid or high end tier but for those on an extremely low budget with entry level kit it will do the job nicely
An ATNG PSU came w/son's first PC, a Cyberpower pre-built. It gave up the ghost after 3.5 yrs of use. Thankfully took nothing w/it, it just died one day while turning it on. It said it was 1000Watts, which was laughable. Replaced it with an EVGA 650W BQ in July (2020). What was immediately noticable was the drastic difference in weight between the units. I thought PSUs were hard to find at THAT time, holy smoke, the situation has gotten worse. Anyone know why? I thought Chinese factories were back up and running full speed. I do like flat cables over the more bulky mesh covered style.
@@PapaMav ATNG are hit and miss they make some real cheap units to spec that customers ask for, yet have made some real diamonds like Fractal Tesla and Newton units and Gigabytes Sumo Platinum 1000 monster. Hopefully they have not changed the quality of components in the units submitted to get the 80+ certification on the platform as Aerocool has been caught doing that before. the main 2 things causing the PSU situation are component shortages which can be often be made in Japan, Thailand or Indonesia same situation for motherboards right now. The other is PPE masks sanitiser etc getting preferable boat space with other products beyond just PC parts then fighting for container placement which is driving up the cost of shipping. Air shipping is too costly to ship heavy units and Aerospace sector is facing challenges its self. I was at a company last week that rebuilt jet engines throwing away servers etc for crushing and burning (sob) not wanting to recyc for sensitive data being recovered. As most of the staff being laid off. EVGA BQ units mostly made by company called Andyson or AIC with a few being made by HEC both use China factories with what is known as Korean quality control measures
@@buntudred6929 thank you for the info on ATNG. I had heard about the focus on PPE, but that was about 2 months or so ago watching one of Gamer's Nexus vids. And yes, was aware that some BQ units (higher wattage ones) are made by HEC and the lower wattage ones in the series, made by Andyson. Appreciate the info and insight.
@@PapaMav The PPE shipping thing has been going on as far back as beginning of Feb this year which is when I found out about it with one of my friends who works for a retailer fretting about his containers from Cooler Master being left on the docs. Took 3 months to find space and it was 1 at a time situation.
Appreciating the flat cables instead of the fat meshed ones. It's just like my TT Smart 650. How long is the CPU cable? Mine one was 55 cm, too tight. Thank you very much, Mike!
Hi Mike. I recently bought a Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 850W 80+ Gold Fully Modular with a 10 Yr Warranty for only $150. It's really nice. I don't mind molex connectors. They have one 5v line, and one 12v line, so you can cut the wires and use them for about anything you need.
Thank you again for your insight Oletta. Makes sense and I would imagine w/most caps, the less heat the better. Have you had good luck in the past with Thermaltake models? One thing I have learned over time, is it is less about brands and more about particular brand's models.
I bought this PSU for my first PC (RTX 2060, Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM) and it died literally 2 weeks after installing it, im still mad about it but maybe i got unlucky.
Interested to know you're opinion on this vs the aerocool integrator 500w considering the new model also has flat black cables Mike. Worth the extra £5ish? That being said this looks like a niice option for budget flipper PCs over the integrator!
the modern integrator is really the replacement for this so if you can still get one at a reduced price they are a bargain, otherwise for a little bit more the CiT pro or CWT 500w is worth a look also
I'd put this in a super budget build like an old Haswell budget PC. If you can afford DDR4/modern CPU setup then you can afford an 80+ Bronze Corsair/EVGA/Seasonic PSU. One of the biggest mistakes when building is going cheapo on your PSU. It looks like an ok PSU but I wouldn't put it in my main system. Edit: Having said that I actually put a Corsair CV550 into the last Haswell based PC I've built so.. better safe than sorry:)
like i said in the live stream, this is a budget PSU but it isn't a junk PSU i have been in the PC business since 1995 and i have seen some really poor PSUs and this isn't one of them :-)
From my experience with that PSU it's not great for a gaming pc. It died after 1 year, luckily I had a good PSU from my old pc so I fixed the problem. It's probably an OK PSU for low end pc. Be careful if u buy an already made gaming Pc with that PSU, it won't survive!
sir what do you think is better for ryzen 2600 and rx570, GIGABYTE P550B 550W 80 Plus Bronze or Cooler Master MWE 500 WHITE 230V - V2 or EVGA 500 BV 500watts 80plus Bronze or Corsair CV450 80 Plus Bronze PSU 450W?
This is maybe easier to fix or at least advise if we can ask more questions and get direct answers, so feel free to join our Discord chat and we can go over it in more detail discord.gg/gaeeDPw
my friend has recommended me to get this PSU for my upcoming Build since it fits in my budget of £850 especially since i got the Amazon Prime Discount and is rated for 700W, plus the cables are black and not yucky Kecthup and mustard, he said hes had it for 2 months and it hasnt given him problems since, also i see its rated at 80+ White, does this mean its still reliable and wont break all of a sudden compared to Bronze rated ones since im planning to get an upcoming 30 Series Card, and is its noise level loud or is it quite silent since most reviews are in Russian and this is the only one i found in english lol which your review is really helpful!
the 80 plus ratings are purely for power efficiency not a measure of quality although most people are blissfully unaware of that fact and go the highest rating, which only means that for the amount of power taken from the wall the more is used and not wasted in the conversion and transformed into heat. A white rated PSU is just as likely do break down as a titanium rated one, but the quality of components required to pass the higher levels of efficiency is higher than those at the lower end so better quality should mean longer lasting but there is so much more to it than that.
@@mikesunboxing Alright that sounds perfect, i just dont want a my first PSU to fail on me as soon as i buy it since i cant find rarely any review on it, also do you think this would work perfectly with the Upcoming Nividia 3060 Ti? and also knowing that the 30 series come with 12 pin adaptors it should work perfectly fine right?
1. IMHO You are wasting your time with just a 80+ or under. The sweet spot is 80+ Bronze and 80+ Gold. 2. Up to 85% efficiency is suspect.... expect 80 - 83% on the average. That saying I had AeroCool PSU's (80+gold)in the past and they gave me no issues. Quality build is pretty good and should last you 4 to 5 years. It's one of the PSU's I look for when I make a budget build.
you are totally allowed to have an opinion that is fine by me. I think my idea of budget is lower than some and again that is fine. The PC community has many various levels and mine is pretty low :-)
I have a 500w version of this. Every time I boot up my PC for the FIRST time of the day, the fans are loud. It goes away after like 30 seconds. It's weird and scary, but other than that, I haven't really had any problems. I just wonder why the hell it makes that sound.
@@mikesunboxing Yeah, I was thinking about the same thing. But I don't remember my previous PSU making a sound like that at all when I would boot it up for the first time of each day.
@@mikesunboxing Lmao, I stumbled across this video again to see if this PSU has 12 pins for RTX 3060. I want to say that I don't think it is the PSU anymore, but rather my used GPU which I bought, and still use, which still has the same problem. But yeah, seriously don't think it's my PSU anymore.
So this is only compatible with acer, amd but I don't see intel. So I am using an amd gpu but intel cpu. Will this still be usable or does it need a compatible motherboard that supports amd also? If so is there any other cheap psu that can run with my specs and is 400w+
#15thPo!!, Nice review as always, however would have been nice to have gotten the weight of the unit. Also the RGB strobe on the keyboard is a tad annoying Po!!
Aah, 10:19 - it's 14cm. Finding that was like looking for hen's teeth. ... Well, at least this variant is. Did anyone even monitor the voltages under stress-test benchmarks?
Anyone know the dimensions of this? The one I have currently is 15cm width, 14cm depth and 8.5cm height. Looking to replace and the Aerocool Integrator 500 W 80 Plus seems to have identical dimensions but can't find the dimensions of the Aerocool Cylon 500w anywhere which I'd prefer.
If you do have little self respect just stay away from this psu, it happened as a gift to me and it stopped working just before i had time to replace is. The psu inside parts are made from most cheap materials it is a total crap, except for the shining leds. There is no point to go chintzy on psu especially when you put decent computer parts inside the case. Then on next night spend extra cash on drinks in the local club, this is just moronic. for few extra bugs get some normal psu with recognizable brand on it. The whole review should have been about this idea :)
@@mikesunboxing It is the same line and parts inside, i do watch and can not stay passive when that company is pretending for decent products. i am sure you are polite enough because you did not risk to put any expensive computer part hooked in it. :)

I've got the same one but 600w. £35 from ebuyer
Nice 👍
Appreciating the flat cables instead of the fat meshed ones. It's just like my TT Smart 650. How long is the CPU cable? Mine one was 55 cm, too tight. Thank you very much, Mike!
The cpu or eps cable was 18” I think so that is about 450mm I think
Oletta, does that model come with Japanese caps?
@@PapaMav Yep, 100 percentage high quality 105°C (221°F) Japanese capacitors. Would I buy anything less? No I would not.
That a girl. Thank you! Would you be hesitant to buy a unit that JUST had it's main cap Japanese? Any thoughts on Teapo caps? Thank you again Oletta.
@@PapaMav I hear they're okay if you keep them cool. They apparently don't like heat.
I have personally never any problems with these but it does happen sadly
Interested to know you're opinion on this vs the aerocool integrator 500w considering the new model also has flat black cables Mike. Worth the extra £5ish? That being said this looks like a niice option for budget flipper PCs over the integrator!
the modern integrator is really the replacement for this so if you can still get one at a reduced price they are a bargain, otherwise for a little bit more the CiT pro or CWT 500w is worth a look also
@@mikesunboxing Yeah those CIT PSUs are well priced youre right, cheers for the reply mike
Edit: Having said that I actually put a Corsair CV550 into the last Haswell based PC I've built so.. better safe than sorry:)
like i said in the live stream, this is a budget PSU but it isn't a junk PSU i have been in the PC business since 1995 and i have seen some really poor PSUs and this isn't one of them :-)
@@mikesunboxing I actually acquired an Integrator 500W unit recently. How would you compare the Integrator to the Cylon?
The new inter gator is the replacement for the cylon in most regions it seems
@@mikesunboxing Ok, I'll take your word for it and will... integrate it into my next budget build.
What do you think of the 700w version of this psu? and do you think it will work with an rx 5700 xt red devil by powercolour
Yes that will be great
@@mikesunboxing thanks a ton man
From my experience with that PSU it's not great for a gaming pc. It died after 1 year, luckily I had a good PSU from my old pc so I fixed the problem. It's probably an OK PSU for low end pc. Be careful if u buy an already made gaming Pc with that PSU, it won't survive!
sorry to hear about the psu dying
sir what do you think is better for ryzen 2600 and rx570, GIGABYTE P550B 550W 80 Plus Bronze or Cooler Master MWE 500 WHITE 230V - V2 or EVGA 500 BV 500watts 80plus Bronze or Corsair CV450 80 Plus Bronze PSU 450W?

my friend has recommended me to get this PSU for my upcoming Build since it fits in my budget of £850 especially since i got the Amazon Prime Discount and is rated for 700W, plus the cables are black and not yucky Kecthup and mustard, he said hes had it for 2 months and it hasnt given him problems since, also i see its rated at 80+ White, does this mean its still reliable and wont break all of a sudden compared to Bronze rated ones since im planning to get an upcoming 30 Series Card, and is its noise level loud or is it quite silent since most reviews are in Russian and this is the only one i found in english lol which your review is really helpful!
the 80 plus ratings are purely for power efficiency not a measure of quality although most people are blissfully unaware of that fact and go the highest rating, which only means that for the amount of power taken from the wall the more is used and not wasted in the conversion and transformed into heat.
A white rated PSU is just as likely do break down as a titanium rated one, but the quality of components required to pass the higher levels of efficiency is higher than those at the lower end so better quality should mean longer lasting but there is so much more to it than that.
@@mikesunboxing
Alright that sounds perfect, i just dont want a my first PSU to fail on me as soon as i buy it since i cant find rarely any review on it, also do you think this would work perfectly with the Upcoming Nividia 3060 Ti? and also knowing that the 30 series come with 12 pin adaptors it should work perfectly fine right?
@@jebediahkerman4251 should be fine although until the cards are released and tested it is hard to give an accurate reply.
@@mikesunboxing
sounds alright, also whould this have enough pins for a 2070 Super by any chance?
Interesting I might get for my next build. (First)
Go for it!
So do you think Aerocool Cylon product is trustable? I am planning on buy a areocool Cylon 550W for 37 euro on amazon. Thanks for the video.
It is also 80 plus bronze certified
Yes 100%
@@mikesunboxing Thanks for the reply, but is this good enough for r5 3600 and 1660 super build?
I have a 500w version of this. Every time I boot up my PC for the FIRST time of the day, the fans are loud. It goes away after like 30 seconds. It's weird and scary, but other than that, I haven't really had any problems. I just wonder why the hell it makes that sound.
yes that is odd? Most power supplies will start up a little faster as a kind of self test thing
@@shuerzz5403 Thanks for updating us
What's the dimensions oc the psu? (not the whole package)
usual ATX form factor 150 x 86 x 155 by my eye
What type is it like bronze or white or gold
it is white
So this is only compatible with acer, amd but I don't see intel. So I am using an amd gpu but intel cpu. Will this still be usable or does it need a compatible motherboard that supports amd also? If so is there any other cheap psu that can run with my specs and is 400w+
this is totally fine for AMD or intel systems
#15thPo!!, Nice review as always, however would have been nice to have gotten the weight of the unit. Also the RGB strobe on the keyboard is a tad annoying Po!!
Sorry that keyboard is doing that a lot recently? The power supply weight will be added to the video description op!
I think my Motherboard does not have pins for the psu RGB, how can i still use it?
My mobo is a gigabyte H410m h
there is no rgb on this one sorry
Aah, 10:19 - it's 14cm. Finding that was like looking for hen's teeth. ... Well, at least this variant is. Did anyone even monitor the voltages under stress-test benchmarks?
i might do that in a follow up video if your are interested
I have this psu it’s ok but has a lot of coil whine
i find that on a lot of PSUs these days regardless of the brand
Does one 6+2 connector work with two 4+4?
no it won't

If you do have little self respect just stay away from this psu, it happened as a gift to me and it stopped working just before i had time to replace is.
The psu inside parts are made from most cheap materials it is a total crap, except for the shining leds. There is no point to go chintzy on psu especially when you put decent computer parts inside the case. Then on next night spend extra cash on drinks in the local club, this is just moronic.
for few extra bugs get some normal psu with recognizable brand on it. The whole review should have been about this idea :)
i think you have another PSU this one doesn't have any LEDs on it, but thanks for watching
@@mikesunboxing It is the same line and parts inside, i do watch and can not stay passive when that company is pretending for decent products. i am sure you are polite enough because you did not risk to put any expensive computer part hooked in it. :)
