    I have a 2003 Tacoma 4 door Prerunner that I bought new. It developed a high speed shake. I had it aligned several times, tires balanced at two different tire shops, changed four tires and it still had the same shake. I then had the front struts replaced but that didn't help. I rotated the tires front to back and that cured the shakes, so had the rear tires balanced again then put back on the front. The shakes returned. Changed the front two tires again. Shakes continued. Replaced the front two wheels, still shaked. Replaced all four tires with a more expensive set and that cured the shakes! Two sets of brand new tires were the problem.

    I've mentioned in a prior video/comment that I had a recurring high speed vibration from the front of my 2005 Camry. Changed the brakes (due given the miles), and what the end result was the prior tires were the wrong size for the car that promoted the vibration. You just never know the source sometimes! It can evolve to multiple issues that have to be isolated away from the source. Wasn't balancing of the tires, wasn't the alignment, wasn't known to be the tires...until I replaced them to realize the wrong size was put on! No vibration since. Sometimes, in early year engines it would be loose engine mounts (GM). My issue was persistently looked into for vibration and it wasn't until I replaced the tires to find them the wrong size to be the issue. Goodbye Sears. Store closed, no more screwups. Love my Michelins despite the cost.

    My tacoma vibrates pretty bad at 55-60mph. Im thinking wheel balance, because it gets better or worse depending on how warm/cold it is outside (tire pressure). Possibly alignment, as the camber adjustment bolts are seized.
    Thoughts? Truck has had the wheels balanced a couple times, but I didn't let them use sticky weights (they keep flying off)... how hard is it to get a great balance with only the rim weights?

  • @SuperDancingdonkey

    The danger of the torque gun isnt that you won't torque the lug nuts tight enough, it's that you will torque them unevenly bending or warping the brake rotors. That's why even if you check with a torque wrench after the damage is already done. Who knows, maybe uneven torquing is what causes this problem over all these years.

    Re: Transmission. I hear a whirring in the lower gears. My truck has 127k miles and doesn't make that noise. My old 4runner with same transmission and 298k mi did NOT have the noise. Low/wrong oil in transmission I bet.

    So the loose spring is ok?! Was it the tire rotation that fixed it, or was it the taking off the wheels and putting back on that fixed it? You should put the tires back 8n their original position and see if it comes back. What exactly about the tires caused the Res more to this story.

    I changed one time with Maxlife on two different toyotas. 1MZFE and 2GRFE and both transmissions did not like it. Slow hard shifting when cold. Like not enough pressure. Automatic both. Do not do it. Alwats use Toyo recommended, Synthetic is not always better. Dexron III for older 90's, T-IV for semi old, newest is WS, mid 2000's+. Now on maybe second ws spill and fill after the Maxlife and just better now. Heard trans whine as well. More than usual for this Toyo vehicle.

    • @alexpage8965
      @alexpage8965 ปีที่แล้ว

      Huh, that’s interesting, I ran maxlife in a 1mzfe w/ A series trans and another with U-series trans both from around 160k miles and both cars made it to 300k using maxlife flushed a gallon of it through the trans oil cooler every 5th oil change or so and dumped a bottle of lubegard. Been doing the same thing in an 04 prerunner with 5vx and A series trans that calls for T-iv and it shifts brilliant. Most the the toyota cars after 2000 will not shift out of first until trans fluid gets to certain temp, around 135* I believe. Best to drive off slowly for a couple minutes until trans gets up to temp, but I’ve had nothing but good experiences running maxlife ATF as a replacement for T-IV and older Dex III applications. I also use it in a pair of honda automatic transmissions, gasp I know sacrilege, but it has been doing fine too!

    Your customer has a cracked windshield (California Vehicle Code 26710) and the CHP or local police will cite for equipment violations. It's much cheaper to fix the window than get a citation as you pay the fine and still be required to fix the windshield.

    i love your videos but please don't feel you have to film yourself driving, especially not looking into the camera. Drivers need to always keep their attention on the road.
    Again this was very educational for me. I started looking into replacement rear calipers for my Corolla because when I recently did new front rotors & pads, I inspected the rear and found the exposed part of the piston looks rusty. Not sure it's good to push that back in when I replace the rear pads soon. I read it may damage the dust/fluid seals. It didn't occur to me I wouldn't be ABLE to push them back in lol.
