      #Askeck potential versus video so who you think would win:
      Halo: All occupants on the present lesser Ark such "The banished", "The UNSC spirit of fire", "Forerunner sentinel systems" and "Yapyaps grunt rebellion" vs Star wars: Grand admiral Thrawns 7th fleet.
      No flood in this because at this point its being contained.

      Hey, I was wondering if you or anyone else knows of any Star Wars maps of the galaxy that actually take account of the three dimensional nature of the galaxy. It would be cool to actually see a better visualisation on an x, y, z plane and figure out where exactly planets are, because a 2D map really just doesn't cut it for realistic purposes. For anyone that knows this game, I'm kind of thinking like an Elite Dangerous map of our own galaxy, one that shows the "bubble" of human existence

    In Asimov's Foundation series of novels, there is an Ecumenopolis planet called Trantor. To sustain a planet-wide city, twenty agricultural planets did nothing but ship food to Trantor via fleets of tens of thousands of freighters.

    • @Lexivor

    I've always been drawn to Taris and Nar Shaddaa, possibly due to how meaningful their history is in the Old Republic era. One for how tragic it was and the other for being a font of creativity with so many possibilities for original stories to flourish within.

    How about a starship versus? I would love to see the T-85 X-wing vs the E-wing. A breakdown of the battle of Fondor from the Legacy of the Force book series would also be cool. I'm pretty sure it takes place in the Star War Legacy of the Force: Revalation book.

    A couple corrections. Ecumen (οικθμενη) means world and polis (πολις) means city, not the other way around, and the proper plural would be ecumenopoles.

    0:54 the greek pendant in me just has to point out you got it backwards on the graphic. "Ecumen" is "world" and "polis" is "city". Like "Indianapolis" means "indiana city". Other than that great work and keep up the good content.

    And yes Nar Shaddaa... Which is basically the Chicago or Detroit of the Star Wars universe.

    Hey Eck, just so you know, you got the roots wrong for Ecumenopolis. Ecumenical comes from οἰκουμένη (the whole of the inhabited world), which in turn comes from οἶκος, the dwelling place/home. Polis means city. Literally broken down ecumenopolis means ‘all inhabitable land as one city’, but it’s better interpreted as ‘planetwide city’

    • @jacobj869
      @jacobj869 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also plural would be ecumenopoleis, ecumenopolises

  • @quinnbuffet3825

    The sea on Coruscant was actually, in fact, artificial; it was made for tourism naturally, I feel this was an oversight though. Ecumenopolis' would rationally use up huge amounts of water and food, having a sea-sized reservoir to feed and irrigate the peoples of the planet would be a good solution. But I guess that beachside real estate is more important..

    • @mancubwwa
      @mancubwwa 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Taris is only built over landmass. I am pretty sure some legends stuff mentioned massive food imports going to Coruscant, and the fact it can't even get close to feeding it's population. There is at least some form of water circulation, as we see clouds during RotS

    #askeck which type of deflector shielding is a more effective form of protection: a bubble-like field that’s constantly active or when the hull is struck, sensors in the armor trigger nearby generators that trigger a transient energy field localized in the area?

    Ecumenopolis (from Greek: οἰκουμένη oecumene, meaning "world", and πόλις polis "city", thus "a world city"; pl. ecumenopolises or ecumenopoleis) is the hypothetical concept of a planetwide city.

  • @sieyes9356
    @sieyes9356 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    In case anyone is interested: the plural of ecumenopolis is “ecumenopoles” or if you want to be more faithful to the Ancient Greek, “ecumenopoleis” (it’s pronounced the same anyway)
