Okay, after getting halfway thru Peacemaker, it really humanizes him way more than I expected. I straight up cried at one point during part of his backstory.

In the Peacemaker show they show that he is kind of conflicted by his own idealogy and he is starting to question his choices.. But the show is also over the top violent and hilarious.

Fun fact: the scene where Harley unlocks the cuffs with just her feet was actually Margot! Not a stunt double. Unfortunately the angle James Gunn shot it at didn’t capture her face.
Plus, it was all in one take.
Thats legitimately incredible, they definetly cut to help with the unlocking but just the core strength to get up there is superhuman

In all honesty, I think you should give Peacemaker a fair shot; James Gunn actually scripted the whole show and Directed the first 3 episodes, so it still has the same feel and flair! John Cena will definitely surprise you in it :)

Javelin is played by Flula Borg, who was the tall German guy from DSM in Pitch Perfect 2. He is absolutely hilarious in the bloopers, and I’m so glad he got a bit more of a death scene than the others! :)
In the Peacemaker show, there's actually a lot more depth to Peacemaker. And he starts learning and growing as a person. And you find out why he is the way he is. But I totally understand the not likable main character thing.
Yeah I agree. the show is funny and James Gunn's whacky nature really gets to shine in it. But they make it clear from the first episode that he's disconnected from the way the world works and how he came to be. He's a Jerk but he's an Archie Bunker Level jerk.

I concur with the other commenters in saying that you definitely should watch the Peacemaker show. It’s about halfway through the limited series run at this point, but there are already signs that he’s questioning his ideology, and there are deeper reasons why he became the character you see in the movie, starting with how he was raised to act and think. The show is also excellently written and acted, with really funny, colorful characters (Vigilante is a hilarious surprise). Give the show a try, and commit to watching every episode. It’s not a long series, but it takes 2 - 3 episodes to start building some character arcs.
I think it would've been much better if she found out what you just said to her on her own without revealing to her what she can expect.
I mean I wasn't excited about the show but watching the intro for episode one I was already hooked and fully committed by the end of the episode.

The actor that plays Calendar Man, the one that yelled at Polka Dot man( Sean Gunn) also did the motion capture for Weasel and is the directors brother.
I am amazed by how much they manage to make Peacemaker so much more likable in his show... You find out HOW he got to be the person he is now. And it has a lot of people from this show in it.

Looking forward to see what other directors do with these heroes. I’m excited for almost every major DC project in production right now. Too many great directors and talent creating the upcoming films to hang onto the past films.

The Peacemaker show on HBO Max is incredible. It brings so much light and depth to the Peacemaker character and really gets into why he is the way he is. I can’t speak enough about it.
And the opening credits are some of the best ever.

I think you should give the Peacemaker show a chance. The reason James Gunn decided to make the show (Gunn wrote all 8 episodes and directed 5 of them) was because he wanted to flesh the character out and make him someone audiences could care for, as that's the thing he felt he couldn't do in the movie. It's not all out yet, so I can't say definitively whether the project will be a success, but he's definitely a charismatic lead so far, and you do empathize and understand his ideals, even when you don't agree with them. Plus, it's all got that same sense of humor the film has. Definitely worth the watch imo.
Give Peacemaker a chance, there is character growth so your feelings about him might change. Also it's written and mostly directed by James Gunn, so of course it's going to be enjoyable.
Four episodes of Peacemaker have been released so far. James Gunn once again does a great job here with a main character most people disliked from this film. It is definitely worth viewing, and the first episode is hilarious!

I only just realised that when Waller goes to eliminate the crew for wanting to save Corto Maltese, you can see Peacemaker is still alive on their board.
I was skeptical about Peacemaker, in part for the same reason you gave. It’s a really fantastic show and he’s a pretty easy character to get behind as you get to know him.
And I love this movie, so much. Excellent cast. Hilarious, gloriously violent, silly, sweet. The James Gunn special.

Originally, I didn't think Cena could fill a part clearly written for Dave Bautista, but he did a good job. Peacemaker is also an excellent series so far.
Fun fact, in comic book lore, Peacemaker was used as the INSPIRATION for the character of the Comedian in Alan Moore's hit comic book 'Watchmen', because while he initially wanted to use Peacemaker, Question, Blue Beetle and the other characters from Charlton Comics that DC Comics acquired, he was told by the powers that be, to come up with new ones in case they wanted to use these latest acquisitions down the road. And now years later, here we are.
Peacemaker is so good and is basically a continuation of this, plus there are multiple characters in the show you can gravitate to

Seeing how John acts as peacemaker is so consistent with his show.
Granted its directed and written by James but all his mannerisms and character traits are seamless.
I think he's just as likeable as he is a reckless psychopath. He and Vigilante are my favourites 💜🦖🖤
Peacemaker show turned out to be the best thing of 2022, his character arch was great and it really hit home when you find out why he is the way he is and how he doesnt want to do it anymore after killing flag, it traumatized him.
Dad watched this movie last year. Both of us love Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Also, John Cena as Peacemaker, OMG! I wanna watch that series. The guy who is The Thinker was the twelfth Doctor in Doctor Who.
Who would've thought we'd get Arm-Fall-Off-Boy and Polka-Dot Man in a movie before a proper Green Lantern.
The show Peacemaker is really rather clever in that they are showing the reasons for his behaviour and serve it up with several layers of pathos to the point you feel sorry for him, but still keeping the show very funny.

I watched this movie many times! I loved it! Harley Quinn is my most favorite! In the scene where Harley picked up the key with her foot, the actress Margot Robbie actually did it by herself without using a stunt double. Gotta be impressed by her acting skills.
