I'm local S'porean... will try to explain the Kopi (Coffee) linguo...
Kopi O (Black Coffee) - Thick Coffee + Water + Sugar
Kopi O Gau (Black Coffee 'Strong') - Thick Coffee + less Water + Sugar
Kopi O Po (Black Coffee 'Weak') - less Thick Coffee + more Water + Sugar
Kopi (Coffee) - Thick Coffee + Water + Condense Milk
Kopi Gau (Coffee 'Strong') - Thick Coffee + less Water + Condense Milk
Kopi Po (Coffee 'Weak') - less Thick Coffee + more Water + Condense Milk
Kopi C (Coffee) - Thick Coffee + Water + EVAPORATED Milk
    Kopi/Kopi O Siew Dai - Coffee/Black Coffee less sweet
    Kopi/Kopi O Gah Dai - Coffee/Black Coffee more sweet
There is a few more linguo for Tea too... but this is just a few more common version of ordering Coffee in any of the local coffeeshop or store...

I’ve visited Singapore a few times, had a good friend working there for about 14 years. Street food is second to none for cleanliness, as they have very tight regulations in Singapore. Hawkers stalls are great to eat at. You should go to the harbour to eat Chilli Crab. Hope you enjoy your stay

Hi Luke and Sabrina! Loved this video. I turned into a foodie on my first trip to Vietnam in 2017, so now I travel for food :-). I was thinking that when I visit Malaysia, since it's so close, I also visit Singapore. But since I like old culture and architecture and Singapore is very modern, the food would be my focus.
From videos I've seen - it seems the food types and recipes in Singapore are very similar or the same as found in Malaysia for the most part. Is that correct?
If that were the case, then if that is my focus, I should eat only in Malaysia, and not spend the time or expense to visit Singapore and visit somewhere instead?

Pity they didn’t have the soft-boiled eggs to have with a bit of soy sauce and the kaya toast.
Traditional Malaysian/Singaporean coffee has its own history. Like Kayla, the locals couldn’t afford coffee, so they collected beans that dropped out of sacks of coffee that had small rips in them. Instead of roasting them, they were roasted in coconut oil in a wok, ground them down and made the coffee out of that. Due to a lack of refrigeration, sweetened condensed milk is used.
The result, as you found, is thick and sweet. And highly addictive, once you get used to it.
Kalimansi/calamondin is an intergeneric cross of a mandarin and a cumquat. I’d crawl on hands and knees over broken glass for it. Also great if you drop one of those salty Chinese plums in the glass.

Pandan to us is like Vanilla to the west. Pandan is a plant, flat and fragrant. South East Asian Cuisine uses a lot of Pandan in their food. Fold it into a bunch, put it in rice and sweet soup to bring out the fragrance and enhance the taste of the food. Extract the juices to add in cake mixture (both western and Asian delights). Use the leave as a wrapper for Nonya Rice Dumpling, or barbecue Thai Pandan Leave Chicken Pieces, or any other Asian dessert. Pandan is a multi-functional leave. If I were to list out all the uses of the Pandan leave, it will take more than a sheet of A4 paper.

Do try out the place call Pasir Panjang food court. Few stores selling seafood ranging from crabs to shellfish. Price is definitely reasonable compare to those tourists spot. It is just located beside Pasir Panjang MRT station! Do go at 5pm to avoid the dinner crowds.
Most of the store there are nice and the cooking styles for the dishes are the same as well. There’s even a stall selling draft beer as well.
