Could you please tell me - what those manipulations with broccoli leaves were about? Why did she first cut those tiny pieces into three tinier pieces each, then threw them out? Did I miss something?
This was a cool meal Kay! I showed your channel to my friends and now we watch all your vidoes together! Your videos always make my day! Keep up the great videos!
Kay, I watch you cook while eating lunch. You’re so uplifting. When I was little, my late mom would tell me broccoli was “little trees”. This video made me smile. Be well, and keep on cooking!
We in Germany eat this all the time. You made it just Like my grandmother was used to cook this absolutely enjoyable meal for us, where i was a child.❤
That German meal looked just like the meals I had during the time I was sent to Germany. I actually went to to Tesco today and bought a new frying pan, Just like what you have and fried up some skate. Skate is a great fish but it make your house smell like urine. Fumbs up.
Hi Kay, thank you for this nice remembrance of my childhood, there are only some issues: my mother used to steam the Böckelkohl (broccoli), cut the Frankfurter, that they look like a starfish (cut them in half and then cut it quarters but letting the end hold them together), browning onions in butter separately afterwards in the same pan, and serving them with mash (potatoes, a bit of celeriac root and a small carrot, milk). Before this meal we has had a broccoli soup made out of the stem and the trimmings of the broccoli. Maybe I come from the eastern part of nowadays Germany, we has had always a soup before the main dish. After the dish we was allowed to drink. It was always said, don’t drink before you have eaten. As drink we mostly has had some kind of juice mixed with water. Then came the dessert: fruits from the season in spring and summer and Kompott (preserved fruits) in winter. Most fruits and vegetables came from the garden and in communist times it was always a challenge to get good seeds. The adults always spoke about to get good seeds and how to make the soil for gardening, which was more interesting at family gatherings than speaking about politics, because you can never know who is standing on which side. Keep on cooking and learning and sharing your cooking with us. My always tells us, you don’t need to overcook because we have refrigerators nowadays. Overcooking this is a cooking technique in the times as we hasn’t had refrigerators. She was so happy as we got our first refrigerators in our household and her food tasted better. She was overviewing all receipts of her foremothers to adapt it to the modern times.
I Kay starts cooking food from around the world it would end in disaster, and could trigger a world war.... the entire world trying to kill us British! Be careful what you ask for I beg you!
She did used to wear a t-shirt with kays good cooking written on it iron maiden style with flames on it too, check out her older vids from 6 odd years ago 😊
Kay, you can peel a broccoli stem and eat it or use it in your recipe. Try steaming your broccoli instead of boiling it. Smash steamed broccoli and add one egg, bread crumbs, spices, salt and mix until you can make balls . Put more oil in the pan for onion and sausages to cook properly until they are brown. It is called Maillard reaction. Then strain that oil and use it in your next recipe. Use it to fry broccoli balls. Enjoy
@@alaefarmestatesllc Try both and let me know which method did you like better. Then make your own method that we can try. thanks There is another sausage recipe for you: Put chopped onions, sausages, potatoes, carrot and garlic into deep baking pan. Mix with your favorite spices, salt and little bit of oil or even better butter. Pour a cup of water on the bottom. Cover with a lid or aluminum foil. Bake at 220 Celsius for 30 minutes. Uncover, mix and let it cook for 30-60 minutes stirring it every 10 minutes. Pull it out when you cant wait no more. :D Enjoy
@@TooTRUEtoBeG00D no offense here but I’m gonna have to go with Kay’s. What if everything we were taught was a lie? What if we’re the one doing things wrong or subpar?
Ok Kay as a Brit/German please dont claim this to be a german meal. First no german would ever add broccoli to Bockwurst or Frankfurters, second we dont add Gravy to anything resembling this. Frankfurters are for heating on hot water, bratwurst is for frying in a pan and we dont add onion. Good job though cooking Broccoli pretty well.
Amazing knife skills. The authentic German frankfurters were cut to perfection. I'm surprised you didn't cut them like that in your famous fish stick pie. Your awesome
I am German and you nailed that one :) Where I live we'd properly leave the sausages whole and have it with Ketchup instead of gravy, but that changes from region to region 😊
I’m German and I can say you definitely hit that one on the nose but in my region we wrap it in a lightly sweetened bread with a tomato ketchup. A popular side to have with it is a carbonated drink sweetened with corn syrup, herbs and spices.
You know Kay is an absolute G when she says she's going to put the brocoli leaves in with the brocoli because she understands the good in everything....less waste...more taste .. Great video as always Kay
Kay!! Thank you for the video. I'm hungry now, this had all my favorite things ( except the broccoli 😂) Anyway, my favorite part is always your company! Love you!
You don't need the tiny leafs, you can toss those out.. But you can use the stem of the broccoli, fully, just dice it up same size tham the other 'little trees' are.
This did look very yummy Kay..... is there a traditional recipe from your home, you know, like pasties from Cornwall, or Scouse from Liverpool? If there is, would you cook it for us? Thank you.... love and best wishes to you ❤❤❤
hi Kay :) I watch from South Australia and wonder if you can make a pavlova. Egg whites, sugar, vanilla, cornflour and vinegar. That's all the ingredients. I would love to see it thanks for your videos xo
I enjoy the comments almost as much as I enjoy Kay’s Cooking.
Wow! I can't believe it, I watched Kay cook broccoli at least twenty times, and this is the first time when it ended up green. It's incredible!

My son is 23 now and he used to call broccoli "little trees". Thanks for bringing that sweet memory back to mind! It made me smile. 💓
When I was very little we used to grow broccoli and we only ate the leaves...everything else was thrown away...no, I can't explain the craziness.
Kay, do you know you can eat the broccoli stem? It's got loads of nutrients, I always cook mine 😋 probably the most nutrients within the broccoli 🥦!
