It seems that the Simconnect output method causes MSFS to switch into a different mode which causes the shimmering if you have DLSS enabled and also needs the legacy control mode enabled. If you switch output to freetrack 2.0 enhanced it works much better, keep everything else as per this video

For some reason it keeps putting me in the back of the plane, behind the wing. I can't get it to put me into the cockpit. What am I doing wrong? And what do I need to adjust?
You can try to adjust the center position. I went over that in the video and said You may need to have a separate profile for each airplane. But some airplanes depending on the developer doesn't set up The camera position properly and even the adjustments aren't enough to get it where it needs to be and you would have to adjust the config file for the camera position.
Hi interesting tutorial. Just started and noticed that my OpenTrack doesn't have the Tracker option. Have seen it before but not at the moment, any clues??
Nice, what I don't understand is that my phone has 30fps, I downloaded iVCam and connected the cell phone to the PC with that, in that application it lets me set it to 120fps (at low resolution), the question I have is if those 120fps are real?.. (the neuralnet tracker tab effectively shows 120fps) and it should be noted that I left the "Frames per Second" section within the tracker in "Default". I also don't know if the low resolution that the application sends to opentrack to achieve 120 fps is detrimental to tracking (I don't know what the optimal resolution is, I'm not talking about the one mentioned here, which is the lowest possible within the tracker, but the one that the "camera" sends to the tracker. I also found that activating "Reative Translation" is incredibly important when turning many degrees. Nowhere is the "head-pose.onnx" files explained either, the "big" mode seems to be the most stable (it consumes around double the resources) but in my case it also has the most latency, and I have no idea what specific difference there is between the rest. And a lot of other questions that I don't specify here because of the extension. It definitely lacks a much more complete wiki, the one that exists is very poor unfortunately. Great video, one of the few on the entire internet that go into detail with this... incredible
i do everything as per your video but when i start the tracking it moves me infront of the plane like i am outside the plane , and there is no way of geting inside the cockoit ---dont know what to do , pls help

@@2020fsers thanks for the response, I got freetrack to work in msfs 2020 but its not smooth, also when I look up im looking above the wing not inside the cabin. any ideas thanks.
great tutorial, I am now subscribed - thank you
Your welcome thanks for the comment and the sub 😀
@@2020fsers i am having a weird problem and not sure where to look. If i use the msfs link whenever i try to toggle int/ext view it flashes as if it is going to change view and instantly reverts back. E.g. if i am in cockpit view and select external view it flashes the ext plane view then reverts back and visa versa.
If i use freetrack v2 everything works as it should.
@billfletcher9761 ok use what works best for you .

Oh boy, i will have a look at this. Thx for this video and all the explanation.
Your welcome I did a lot of testing for this . Hope it helps you 😊 thanks for the comment
@@2020fsers i follow your channel for a long time, since you posted hotfixes for graphic problems in MSFS. Was a great help which i still use today (intelligent standby list cleaner). Even if my PC is not the best one, i have no problems whatsoever with stuttering, everything runs smooth. That said, you helped me A LOT! Thx!
My friend... this one helped me sooo much.. Ty

Hi 2020fsers, love all of your videos on msfs, but I'm having trouble with this one.
I have done everything up until starting opentrack, once I press the start button the application just hangs, so I press stop and it says that the fsx/prepared3d is not responding.
Any ideas for this please?
Ok try the freetrack option .. some people this works for and others not like myself.
I know it's been a few months already but I just got a Logitech Brio Webcam to try this. I'm using Freetrack 2.0 as output but couldn't get Z axis to work. All other axis work fine and I've fine tuned all the curves in the settings to my preference. Just couldn't get the Z axis to register when I move my head closer to the guages. Don't know why. Anyway, just want to thank you for all your great videos and tutorials. Keep up the great work.
Thank you ... that is a strange problem. Does it show I the graphs ? When you move around does the slider on the graph move
@@2020fsers No movement at all. I'll try setting the Min Max range and try again. After rewatching your tutorial, I have to recheck a few other settings. Thanks for your response.
@TawichVirangkur also make sure you didn't check to disable any axis in the opentrack software .
@@2020fsers Just an update, I gave up with the Z axis. My workaround is to set up custom camera views instead to zoom in the gauges. On the Opentrack preview page, the raw data shows that Z axis movement is detected but no movement in the game data panel. Don't know what's going on. Thanks for all your suggestions.
Just discover Beam Eye Tracker but it's a payware. Just tried a demo on Steam, works exceptionally well for me.
When i turn it on my mi camera gets out of the plane, what can i do. HELP PLEASE
Either use the recenter page to adjust center or try the freetrack output option .
Strange followed the instructions but, I was outside of the airliner in MSFs ?
Yes I went over this issue and how to fix that . Check out 7:12 time mark
So, this is working really well except I have lost all mouse control in the cockpit. I can't control anything. Any ideas as to why?
make sure to use the legacy mouse setting not lock mode
For some reason it keeps putting me in the back of the plane, behind the wing. I can't get it to put me into the cockpit. What am I doing wrong? And what do I need to adjust?
You can try to adjust the center position.
I went over that in the video and said You may need to have a separate profile for each airplane. But some airplanes depending on the developer doesn't set up The camera position properly and even the adjustments aren't enough to get it where it needs to be and you would have to adjust the config file for the camera position.
Hola, gracias por el video.
como puedo quitar los avatar del piloto y del copiloto, gracias
Tienes este problema en todos los aviones?
Hi interesting tutorial. Just started and noticed that my OpenTrack doesn't have the Tracker option. Have seen it before but not at the moment, any clues??
What tracker option are you referring .
You can try free track option for output or you need to use the center position section to move the camera
How do I get my own image to show as you are using? Trying to follow your tutorial step by step as I have never understood how to configure OpenTrack.
The image is I the camera options
Hello: I down loaded the Opentrack 2023.3.0, but in the input it does not show the Neuralnet Tracker can you please tell me if I did some thing wrong or how to get it to work. John B.
I'm not sure maybe try to uninstall it and reinstall again I just checked mine and I'm using 3.0
Others have stated close program and start it again and the option appears. Ymmv.
Thanx alot! Your videos are always first class. I'm just wondering, what head tracking can actually be good for? (I most times fly in VR) If I move my head in front of the monitor, how can I keep an eye on the scene anyway?😅
Your welcome thanks for the comment . Head tracking is good for people not using vr . Allows you to move around without a mouse.
I get an error asking to install FSX/Prepar 3d Sim Connect SDK, I am unsure of what to do at this point?
Ok try the freetrack option

How do you get the simconnect ask to work? Everytime I press start is get a startup failure saying I need to “Install FSX/Prepare3D Simconnect SDK”. I enabled developer mode and downloaded the SDK but don’t know how to get msfs2020 and open track to see it. Help please!
Ok try the freetrack option .
Another great video, what a find this is. Unfortunately when OpenTrack is enabled in MSFS I cannot manipulate any of the knobs/switches with the mouse. Any ideas?
Maybe try legacy mode instead of lock mode .
In accessibility go to cockpit interaction and legacy .

I started the sim and did everything you said. It says I need to install some SDK simconnect and I can't link it with Msfs. headtracker works but not in msfs
Hello you can either try the freetrack output or you can download the sdk from here

I installed it and tried again. It's still not working... Is there any specific steps after installation? or is there anywhere specific I need to install SimConnect? I installed the SP1 since mine is the steam version. Idk what to do and I really want this to work!
Another thing as well. Freetrack can't detect my sim. It says unknown game when I start the tracking
After you downloaded the zip file, did you extract them and then run the installer?

Either recenter the camera on the center position page or try freetrack output option
@@2020fsers done, thanks a lot for the help, fixed it
When ever I choose Microsoft FSX SimConnect as the output, the POV starts like I'm sitting on the tail of the plane. If I choose Freetrack 2.0 Enhancrd its fine.
Then I would stick to using free track if that's working out better for you
Thanks but i found to many option factors involved. Thought this might be better than no tracker ir but its not. My web cams the same as yours might work for some but for me no tracker ir is much better
Track ir is the best . This is for people wanting to try head tracking at a low cost and still get good results. Not as good as track ir for sure
@@2020fsers iIts called no tracker ir and it works with a web cam just like this version. It used to be free its about 5 bucks now
Oh ok great option I haven't heard if that thanks for the info
So, after watching the entire video how do you connect it to MSFS?
I didn’t see that mentioned anywhere in the video.
When you select the output method it connects to msfs

just a question, does this work with the integrated camera in a laptop? or do you need a webcam?
It should be fine with you in built Webcam

@@2020fsers Hello there, I tried it and everything works with the exception that it doesn’t let me toggle between cockpit and external views, when I press start it sends me directly to an external view and it doesn’t let me toggle to the cockpit view
You have to adjust the default camera position in the open track application.
Does it work with another brand of webcam?
It should work with any Webcam
I am about to get a webcam but i need to know if it tracks better with 60fps vs 30 fps, or does it not make a difference in the quality of tracking?
Nah the cheaper the better . It will only run about 15 to 20 fps once the sim has started
A 30fps cam will be fine
Great video, gave it a go but it killed my frame rate. Removed OpenTrack and went back to TrackIR and all was fine again. Using a 12700K and RTX3080ti.
Oh if you have track ir use that instead that is the best I have used to date . But a mystery as to why you saw such a frame drop . Thanks for the comment
@@2020fsers The only reason why I was trying it was to see if I could stop wearing a hat with the track clip on. I agree that TrackIR is almost flawless.
@streettripler4751 the other thing you can get it the ir lights that clip on the headset that's what I use but then you have wires to you head lol.
@@streettripler4751Tobi doesn’t require any hat or headset clip to wear
Not having the expected result, i cant seem to get a stable image. not even if a crank the position and rotation way up. my image still keeps rocking back and forth ( a bit, but its anoying). Also i cant set my mapping like yours, i cant create the flat line at the end without adding an extra point. and my Z axis is messing up my position in the airplane. i often sit behind my seat or to close to PFD and it randomly changes. Now i bought a second hand Tobii 5 for 80 euros, i hope this will make it more stable. i will arrive in a few days. wish me luck.
hey so when i try to connect to the microsoft FSX simconnect and try to start it is just says "Install FSX/Prepar3D SimConnect SDK" is there anyway on how to fix this?
Try the freetrack output option
When using open tracker I find that I am sitting too low in the seat on the C172, can see over the dashboard, how can I increase my seat height
Use the position centering section in opentrack
Added a NexiGo N940P 2K Webcam which produces a good image. I followed your instructions on downloading an installing OpenTrack, but it won't open. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times, but I can't get it to open. any idea what's wrong?❓
Maybe it's anti-virus related 🤔 I'm not sure .
@@2020fsers Maybe so. I can't find the .exe file ANYWHERE. Perhaps Widows Defender prevented it from loading.

@@2020fsers I've been looking at various options to control the plane better in MSFS2024 while having a good control of the camera, and I'm thinking I might get the Airbus stick for my left hand and use my right hand on the mouse to look around, and maybe bind it to a button plus forward/back movement to control engine RPM. I'm just not sure I trust the hat on the stick to be very accurate. This would have solved that problem. I wonder if there are ones you can buy that work in the dark? Or maybe I should just get VR
